Name: 'Hriss'
Age: 2 months
Birthday: May 10, 2016
Gender: ?
Species: Unidentified alien parasite
Occupation: Creepy forest animal

Appearance Description:
Hriss is an odd little beast, being a jet-black creature of human-like proportions measuring about 6'8 when standing up, at the forehead. The creature, which exhibits both a marvelously durable, matte black exoskeleton and a slender but effective inner skeleton, seems slightly sunken in around the abdomen and due to the shape of her plates she gives the illusion of showing ribs, actually bulges in her outer plates whereas the true, and in fact much less defined ribs sit comfortably under a coating of muscle. Hriss's very elongated braincase makes her head nearly as big as her body, not counting limbs or spikes, and the additional space is put to good use for her senses of smell, taste, touch and hearing.

The creature's back bears four spikes, two long over where the blade of each shoulder would show on a man, two short near where human kidneys aught to be, perhaps slightly above. These spikes curve down at the very ends, and are about as long as Hriss's head. The creature has a shorter, thinner pair of spikes on it's elbows, extensions of the plates on the lower portion of each arm. The arms terminate in four-fingered hands, with two central fingers of similar length and two outer 'thumbs' which can join or oppose them. Hriss's feet are digitigrade and have four toes and a spur, similar to her hands and elbow spikes, but the actual 'foot' is very small, giving her legs also a very human-like appearance. Out behind her extends a muscular tail of about 9 feet in length with tall chitin spikes running across the top, terminating in a slight bulge and an one-sided, slightly curved blade which faces downwards.

When confronted by something of animal origin one generally looks at it's face, and what a face Hriss has. The outside of it seems to be comprised of nothing more than a sunken-looking, barracuda-like jaw held partially closed by a few strands of tissue, a greyish lip that doesn't quite cover bearlike teeth and the smooth, slightly shiny plate that covers almost all of the being's head. Where flesh is exposed it is greyish, with a slight cream cast where it is uncovered and the skin is thin, and within the mouth, which drips a thick, slightly yellow-tinted substance much of the time, is an inner pharyngeal jaw which can extend itself on a tough, rectangular stalk. Hriss exhibits no visible eyes, nostrils, ears, or anything of the sort, and though she has a sense of smell and hearing, she is without sight beyond knowing whether she is standing in harsh light or not, and that is merely from the plate on her head being very slightly photosensitive.

Hriss has a bit of greyish mottling across the back of it's neck, underside of it's braincase and down the right shoulder, from which one of her chitin plates is slightly jagged, clearly having been crushed- or bitten - at some time in the past.
Personality Description: Hriss hasn't had much time to make an individual of herself, but circumstances have changed her rather rapidly. Hriss is a very quiet, secretive being who keeps to herself most of the time. She generally doesn't cause trouble, content to simply sit around most of the time, and sometimes it is difficult to get her to react. Hriss seems to have a good enough sense of her surroundings, but her attention span is rather narrow and limited. She tends to react slow to things she doesn't expect, and violently to unwanted touch. Hriss is curious, though fearful, and likes to explore though only when it is convenient. Hriss is rather low energy, alternating short bursts of intense activity with long periods of rest or milling about. It understands a very small amount of English, via experience.

Powers:
Toxic internal composition:
A. Acid blood, capable of melting through many substances but only viable for a minute or so even if only exposed to air.
B. Temporary, mild paralytic venom in the tail spike. This generally takes several minutes to an hour to actually take effect and on a human can last up to a day, depending on things such as body weight and natural resistances.
C. Slightly numbing saliva. Doesn't really do much else.

Enhanced senses
A.B. and C. Hriss can perceive minute vibrations in air, water, and through land with ease, giving her a very good idea of what's going on around her, even if she can't perceive things visually. This functions similarly to a dolphin's sonar or a bat's echolocation, allowing her to perceive shape and distance with relative accuracy, although a lot of repeated noise can sometimes confuse this sense. This functions with similar accuracy to human sight at close range, beginning to diminish at about 20-or-so feet away, or through obstructions, and basically useless after more than about 150 feet on flat, open ground, or about half that under water.

Species Abilities:
Hriss's species has incredibly acidic blood- so much so as to be able to melt through most organic substances and many non-organic substances with ease. Acid-resistant materials are generally exempt. This acid is only active for a rather short period of time after it has been bled.
Her species additionally is able to close and seal open wounds quickly, and can regenerate much in the same fashion some lizards can.

Biography: Hriss into a different world from the belly of a man, awaking to the sounds of screams and disinterested mumbles, the feeling of warm sun, and the chemical stink of a well-kept research facility. Confused, scared, and hungry, Hriss was scooped up quickly and placed squirming into a clean room onto a little blanket, and fed a gel-like, protein rich substance for the first few days of it's life. Soft, squishy, fragile hands picked her up and weighed her every couple of minutes, little needles grazed the surface of her chitin, careful not to go too far into the opening wounds and be corroded away into Hriss's bloodstream, which likely would have been lethal to the fast-growing larva, and liquids that made it feel sleepy and sick were poured onto it and it's food. Hriss didn't mind, the hands were gentle, the cuts didn't hurt very much and the liquids smelled nice to her, and as they got onto the owners of said hands and said knives, they smelled good to her as well. She liked it there, and though something was nagging at her, telling her that this wasn't what she was born to be doing, she begun thinking of those who were feeding and prodding her as hivemates. They wore smelly wristbands that made her want to protect them, and the first time she met one of her own species, at a wave from one of the men who she had come to grow used to from the lab, she drove her tail through it's head, killing it.

Things weren't always perfect, of course. When she was two days old there were agitated-sounding whispers about, and she felt especially ill, and weeks later she collapsed and was unable to move for a time, but for the first month of Hriss's life, she was content and happy. That was when the 'others' came.

Strange, loud men began invading the 'man nest' as she'd come to think of the facility, shouting and toting devices that hurt her and her allies when they were pointed at them and made lots of noise, and Hriss tried to stop the incoming threat at first, but being shot several times by what she would later learn to think of as a gun, she was made to retreat, to run away and take refuge in the nearby woods, polluted and sparse though they were.

Hriss had never been alone before, and was beginning to have strange thoughts, thoughts that never occurred to her before but seemed entirely rational to her out on her own. She begun preying on the local wildlife as if she'd been hunting all her life, taking what she needed and vanishing into the shadows like a good little hunter, but when she one day came across a human woman walking with her child, Hriss hesitated. She had every intention of killing them so she could eat and- as she was beginning to feel the need to do so- to recycle leftovers into a casing so she could make friends for herself, others of her kind. In stead, she took the mother, and let the child, yet too young to walk, be carried on her own back. She tried to look after it, with no knowledge of human aging, but it died within days, and Hriss found, surprising to herself, that she didn't really care one way or the other.

With how focused her own mind had been on reproduction, she would have thought the child's death would have upset her more than it did, but nonetheless it was on the pile for the remains. Hriss spent a long time- well, a long time to a creature for which two months was the sum of all her experiences- guarding this, tending her eggs, trying to find suitable hosts for her children. She left them before their parasitic stage was complete, some strange mishap of space, time or magic opening up a rift and dumping her confusedly into a different realm entirely. And so the story of Hriss begins...

Additional Information: Hriss may occasionally spasm, forget things, and/or react oddly during threads. This is intentional, as her nervous-system was somewhat damaged when she was little.
