Zora came up from the whirlpool almost immediately. Water, after all, was her element and besides, she was a strong swimmer. Resurfacing she saw, almost immediately, what happened to Broen.

"Reverse the spell if you can," she called out in a rush, almost panicking. She didn't want Broen hurt by her magic. She had no idea if he had the same immunity to the spells that her body did. Her own magic - even if it froze or did something wacky it didn't affect her like those she directed it at.

"Maldita sea..." she swore angrily as she now half swam to him, it was faster, appalled by what happened, "I was hoping it was just me, not the magic..." she said with concern as she glided up next to Broen, very worried that her magic had hurt him.

Broen did as he was told and climbed up out of the pool as soon as he was at the edge. "Fuckin'... you've got something going on in here." He brushed himself off and his hand touched the buckle of his belt. Immediately he pulled the entire belt off, throwing it onto the deck in a panic. "Whatthefuckwhatthefuckwhatthefuck..."

Okay. Jude was right. The belt was definitely evil.

"Okay... I'm not exactly sure what's going on with your shit," Broen admitted once Zora was up on the deck with him. "Why don't you tell me when this started. And what was going on around that time."

Zora watched Broen, frowning, as he removed his belt, swearing suddenly as if it had zapped him or something, adding to her fear that her magic was doing something to him. Now feeling very upset and worried that she had somehow caused that too, she climbed out of the water quickly, not caring if she dripped water everywhere.

Zora sat down next to Broen, and then took his hand in hers, she needed to be sure that her magic had not hurt him, once she was satisfied, she let go of his hand, patted his thigh and simply said, "I needed to make sure you were okay. Party magic is no laughing matter," she said with a faint smile.

When Broen asked her when the erraticness started, Zora was quiet for a moment, staring at the water, and found herself thinking about the first time ever that it had done something weird. Nodding, she came to realise that the first time was a couple of years ago, but she had brushed it off as a glitch or being tired.

"The first time was a few years ago, perhaps... but it was a small thing, just a spell not working properly. " she confessed, "And that was shortly after I became immortal.. " she told Broen quietly. She hadn't ever told anybody what happened that day and the memory still haunted her. There were magics one should never attempt unless they were strong enough, and she had overestimated her abilities.

Broen pulled away from Zora, flinching ever so slightly at her touch and hoping she didn't notice it. Fuck... "Don't you coddle me. If your powers were so bad I couldn't handle them, I'd just get rid of them." He pulled back and looked at his hands, flexing his fingers individually.

"So near as I can figure... whatever you did that made you immortal. Quite frankly? You fucked it up. But it's not unfixable."

"Coddle you?" Zora said as she narrowed her eyes at the comment, she heard or perceived a snarkiness behind it. "I'm NOT coddling you for christ sakes... " she said irritated somewhat at this. She had been worried he had hurt himself, and then he acts like she's treating him like a child. Asshole.

Zora just stared at Broen when he said she fucked up the spell, her irritation dissipating quickly replaced by the irony of the comment itself. "Well, considering I was doing a healing spell, yeah, I'd say making myself immortal was a major fuck up of the spell." she said deadpan.

When Broen said it wasn't unfixable, Zora just stared at him somewhat hopefully. "What, how...?"

Broen stepped away from Zora, glaring at nothing in particular. He refused to shudder again, keeping it in instead. "I don't need sympathy or worry. I'm fine... Anyway."

He started to run his fingers through his hair, then stopped. And put his hands by his side. And looked back at Zora, trying to shoot a grin in her direction rather than glaring. It was surprisingly harder than he thought, but he managed."I mean, I don't exactly know. But I could maybe figure it out. But what's in it for me?"

Zora watched Broen silently as he stood up and moved away from her, silently and mentally rolling her eyes at his behaviour. She could only guess what she had done to offend him, and had a feeling he'd just snap at her if he asked. Therefore, she just let the subject drop. It was not worth it in her mind.

"What do you want?" Zora volleyed back with a grin eyeing him curiously. She knew that he'd expect something in return. The question was what? So far, she had no problems giving Broen what he wanted, but she never quite knew what he'd ask for either.

"I dunno," he said, getting back some of his usual swagger. Rolling the tension out of his shoulders. He showed some teeth with his grin this time. "Your magic being on the fritz means you rely on me more. I tell you how to fix it, you don't need me as much as you do right now."

Broen scratched his cheek, looking up at the sky for a moment, as if considering. His eyes flicked back to Zora. "What's it worth to you? Money is nice, but eh? You pay me plenty well, so it ain't my first choice. So it really all depends on you, I guess."

Zora didn't quite know how to answer that. She'd never considered that part of getting her powers back. And truthfully, even though she'd not admit it - and especially not to Broen, she liked having him around and had come to enjoy his company. She relied on him a lot - and not just protection, but for advice and counsel too.

"I think, perhaps, you have some assumptions about me - and your position - that are not quite right. I'm not a party witch that pulls out her magic to use whenever she can. I am not good offensively, and I ... " here she sighed, "I am not used to having to defend myself either..." Zora said as she pulled her legs out of the water and turned around to face him as she talked.

"I just feel incomplete not having them. That's why I want to fix them. It's like a part of me is missing," she tried to explain. "Not because I think I can defend myself better than you can, god no, that's not it at all..." she said with a shake of her head. Broen had gotten her out of situations - like Sevina - that even if she had her magic, may have gone terribly for her. She was very aware of her limits.

"If that's your concern, then be rest assured that I'm not going to ask you to not be around, or be around less or think that your dispensible. You offer me way more than protection, you also are great at giving advice and counsel which I greatly value," she told him being very frank with him.

"As I told you when you came for the job... " she said as she got to her feet and walked over to him, "My life is very important to me. My powers are part of me, my life, so I'd like to fix them, yes - if possible. However, I am extremely aware that what is happening might be irreversible and I will be left without them." she said looking up at Broen very seriously.

"I honestly do not know what to offer you in exchange - provided you can get them back even," she admitted, hating the fact that she had no clue what to offer him that wouldn't sound insulting.

Broen relaxed further, his grin falling into more of a faint smile. "That's what I like to hear," he said after a pause long enough to make most people nervous. "Alright. I'll help you. I gotta ask the biggest geek I know though to figure all this magic shit out. After all,"

Broen took another minute to rid himself of Zora's powers. He wiped the sweat away from his forehead, shaking a little. That was an awful feeling. Why couldn't his powers have changed to not have that annoying little quirk? Snatching his belt off the deck, he put it back around his waist.

He teleported over to Zora so that he was right up in her face again. "If push comes to shove and I can't get to you, I need to make sure you're strong enough to hold the bitches back until I can get there."
