"You don't have to be so mean..." Catherine said quietly, looking down. Was it really a crime that she wanted to be his friend? Was it so hard to be nice, especially when the kindness was being returned?

He didn't want it? But... why? Catherine still couldn't grasp his logic. Was it 'cool' or something to not accept help? That was stupid. "Are you sure?" the little girl asked. She was perfectly willing to help him, though that was obvious.
