It was late afternoon, and the sisters busied themselves with a new order of books that had just arrived to their store. Ava opened boxes while Nyx and Emi sorted the novels into piles by genre, and Mia and Rui went back and forth from the piles to the shelves, putting the books where they needed to be. It was a ritual that they had done many times. The girls shared a single mind, so it was easy for them to do this task without having to communicate verbally. They were in perfect sync with one another.

A small series of chimes sounded through the store as someone entered. All five girls looked up from their tasks and smiled warmly. "Welcome to Drake's Tail," they all called in perfect unison. "How can we help you today?"​

Mia had been the closest to the door, her hips swaying as she approached the girls while the other four women went back to work. "Human-looking demons," Mia echoed thoughtfully. An interesting request, but not far from the ordinary. "We've got a few books on demonology that may be what you are looking for. Please," her full lips turned upwards in a gentle smile as she led the way through the store to the section that held the books in question.

Emi bounced over from the back to peer over Mia's shoulder at the two girls with her curious hazel eyes. "What else are you looking for?" the strawberry-blonde asked, eager to be doing something other than sort out books. "We've just got a new shipment in, but if you're looking for something we don't have on the shelves, we're happy to special-order it for you." ​

The grumpy one certainly had an attitude on her. It baffled the girls a little that anyone could be grumpy in a book shop, of all places. Perhaps books just weren't her cup of tea. Mia gave a quiet shrug and headed over to attend the register while Emi bounced on her toes.

"Ooh, The Nine Enchantments, huh? I know exactly where that one is," Emi said cheerfully and led the way with a little skip in her step. "That's a really cute dress. Where'd you get it?" The girl hummed as she brushed a few book spines in passing. Emi was always good with the customers. Perhaps it was because she was the fair-haired one among them. Though they weren't sure if that had anything to do with it. The girls were fairly alike when it came to personality, Emi was perhaps a little bubblier, though.

Mia scanned the book at the register and glanced up at Grumpy McGrumperton. "Was there anything else you need today?"​

It was clear to the girls that Grumpy McGrumperton wanted to leave the store as quickly as possible. Mia took her time at the register. "We are Hydra," she replied, and they wondered briefly what had led the girl to that question, but didn't really have the time to ask. Mia looked down at the red card on top of the hundred-dollar bill. Some kind of...invitation? Mia hadn't even had time to give the girl her change before she left the store, but didn't even bother calling after her. Perhaps she didn't want change.

Emi gave the remaining girl a sympathetic smile as she pulled the right book from the shelf. They considered quietly for a moment before Emi shrugged in response and offered the girl the book, "It seems that your friend paid more than sufficiently for both of your books, I suppose that makes up for her attitude. Please enjoy," Emi tilted her head and gave a smile before slipping away to return to her duties, and the six women went back to work, moving in perfect sync just as they had been before the customers had entered.​
