How Can I Afford This?

Malvoes would blush lightly, he's heard fear from his mother and appreciation from his uncle but nothing like how this girl spoke of his ability.

A look of surprise came across his face, "What are you talking about? Shapeshifting sounds amazing, being a bird or lion or cat at will. I'd love it. I'm sure you'd just need to practice. Took me a while to do anything more than this." As he says that he opens his hand and a blue rose appears in small light effects, and he offers it to the girl. "I'm still practicing myself to be honest."

"Thank you for the help though. Um, special being like us, me and you. I've never seen anyone with other special abilities, or horns or tails.." He said recalling what she said, this was true though, he didn't pay much attention to the people around campus, didn't notice anyone strange, this girl was the first person he had met to claim to have powers.

Maddie's mouth popped open as the blue rose came into his hand. Tentatively, Maddie reached out to pinch the rose between her forefinger and thumb. She brought it to her nose and sniffed it.

"It's beautiful," she whispered, looking at him over the flower. "C-Can I keep it? Will it disappear?" She sniffed it again, grinning down at it. "Blue is my favorite color. And you'll see the ones with tails the longer you stay here. It can be a little much to get used to, but it's pretty exciting. Erm," she looked between him and the rose. "If you want, I can give you my phone number and skype and stuff. Just in case, you need help with something."

Maddie reached a finger up to gently stroke the roses petals. "But, uh, don't feel pressured by that or anything! It's just polite for me to offer."

Bandit sneezed, growing bored of sitting beside Maddie. He stood, shook himself off and trotted loosely around the two of them to investigate anything interesting in the area, while keeping in earshot of his owner.

Malvoes would smiles softly, seeing the girl enjoy the lower warmed his heart, he frowned slightly though, "Sadly they don't stay unless I'm nearby, something about me to sustain them in the world. Blue rose is sorta my calling card I suppose, don't know when it started but whenever I dispel something I create, they dissolve into the petals and in turn the petals disappear." He absentmindedly said this, looking down at the rose, remembering several times the flourish of petals around him.

He'd smile again, "Yeah, that'd be nice, having someone to talk to, I'd like that." Look at him making friends while still being lost on his first day on an island paradise school for gifted beings of all sorts. Man that's a long winded and weird concept to get used to.

Maddie frowned down at the flower, twirling it a few times. "At least, it's beautiful while it lasts," she answered softly.

She shook herself out of her reverie and searched her person for something to write on, or at leas,t a pen, but came up empty. She gave him a nervous little smile. "If you don't have something for me to write my number on and something to write it with, I think we're going to have to find one or forget about it all together."

Utterly embarrassing, thought Maddie, you should have checked for a pen before you offered. Now you'll look like an idiot!

At the very least, Maddie assumed a pen and some paper shouldn't be hard to find in a school, but that didn't lessen the sting of her pride.

"Yeah, but that's the beauty of most things, the fact that they don't last forever makes them more precious." He said solemnly, he was back in his mind, thinking thoughts of the past.

"Is that all? Honestly, that's no problem for me, well at least in this situation." He smiled as he did a slight flourish with his right hand, materializing a pen and a small note pad like he did with the rose. Showmanship was one of his favorite lessons from his uncle, one he had used in multiple occasions. He'd hand the pen and paper to Maddie, it was a temporary item, but it'd last long enough, especially with him, that he'd be able to take care of the information/

Maddie stared at the flower. It was hard to follow his statement up with anything quite as powerful. The only thing Maddie could utter was, "That's beautiful."

She met his eyes and smiled softly as she took the pen and pad to write her information down on it. She gave him her skype and her phone number.

"I forgot about your cool power," she blushed. Her writing was messy with excitement, and she couldn't stop look at the pen like it was something she'd ever seen before.

"All right, there you go." She handed him back the pen and paper. "So, you know, if you ever need to get a hold of me. I'm almost always available."

He'd sigh softly, philosophy was a normal subject for him, considering he brought things into existence at least as far as other people were considered, in actuality the creations were all illusory creations. Which left him to often wonder about the reality of, well, reality and other common concepts which gave him intense headaches and left him with existential problems, which were rather fun in his off time.

He'd take the notepad, ripping the top page off, he'd toss the rest of the notepad off into the air it bursting into a cascade of blue rose petals, which in turn dissolve. He'd look at the paper, committing the information to memory within seconds, he'd still fold it up in his pocket. "I'll be sure to do that." He'd smile at Maddie, he was happy to have a friend in this strange place, especially since he was going to be going to school here.

Maddie watched in wonder as the pad of paper burst into rose petals. She reached a hand out to touch them as they drifted downward and dissolved just before they could reach the palm of her hand.

"Soooo coool," she whispered.

She shook her head and grinned. "If we're gonna be friends, we should probably know a little more about each other!" she tapped her index finger against her chin. "You know my name is Maddie and that I like the color blue. Um, I'm fifteen, shy as heck, hate crowds and parties, and..." her eyes roll to the side as she tries to think up something else interesting to say. "I enjoy reading, pretty much anything. Fiction or non-fiction. I don't care."

Maddie clapped her hands together once, "your turn!"

Oh, she was a bit younger than him, a slight surprise but nothing major, he's a friendly person and as long as someone can hold a conversation he's happy. "Well, you know I'm Malvoes, my favorite color is emerald green, I am 19 years old, I also enjoy reading, I enjoy writing as well, and I dabble in other arts, I get uncomfortable in public spaces and events but I can usually fake my way through it." He took a moment to gather more facts, "I was raised by my mother and uncle, grew up in a small town in Michigan, uh....I don't have much that comes to mind right away honestly."He'd chuckle slightly, scratching the back of his head."

"That was more than I gave you!" Maddie said with a smile. "I like reading too, but I'm not that great a writer. I've tried it, and it didn't work all that well. I grew up in the big city. San Francisco, to be specific. With my older sister and two parents. It was a pretty nice place, but I always wondered what it would be like to live in a small town. Does everyone know everyone there? That would be nice. Comforting."
