Aedes had just dumped the the two tablespoons of oil in the pan when one of the older looking students asked what was her beef with the teacher. For someone claiming not to be prying they were awfully nosy.

"Mhrrmm? Curious... but lacking in tact now aren't you? Why don't you go back to making sure your vegetables don't get overcooked... you know... before the teacher goes back to treating you like an infant." whispered Aedes back with a hint of hostility. She then proceeds to try to ignore Euphemia as she places in the onions and peppers, turns down the temperature, then stirs them for the 5 minutes as instructed.

Amber meanwhile doesn't let the rest of the classroom distract herself, following the teacher's instructions to a tee. However, she was unsure if she turned if she set the temperature too much or not enough.

"Miss Celeste? Is this low enough?" asked Amber as she raises her arm up high to get the teacher's attention.

Celeste looked over when she heard Amber's cheerful voice, and smiled. She was happy, relieved actually, to see that somebody needed her help. She knew home ec was not the first choice, or second or even third choice, for most of her students, but she hoped that her class and her advice, could be somewhat useful to those who attended it.

"Let's see," Celeste said as she approached Amber's cook top. Bending down a little to see the flame, she nodded, "Its fine, however, just in case, I'll turn it a little bit lower so it doesn't burn," she explained as she gave the knob a little half turn. "There you go, Amber. Do you need help with anything else?" Celeste asked her curiously as she glanced at her counter and ingredrients.

If Euphemia was at all offended by what Aedes said, it didn't register at all on her face. She simply tilted her head, not quite understanding.

"I apologise, I did not wish to cause any offense." She said, her voice as flat and monotonous as ever. "But I do not see what is so infantile about Ms Forestier's instructions? She holds knowledge that I lack, I do not understand how it would be anything but informative."

That said, she did think it was worth listening to what the younger girl said. She leaned back to her workspace and checked the pan, noticing some of the ingredients were beginning to brown. She had no idea if that was a problem, but she turned down the heat a little just to be on the safe side.

Elisa had added the onions as Ms Forestier wanted, so she had a bit of time until the countdown on her phone finished. In the meantime, she was watching the other students in her class.

If anyone was missing tact, though, it had to be the girl Euphemia was talking to. This was a cooking class, not a restaurant kitchen. She was tempted to tell the girl this, but she held back. It was likely to start an argument.

Sighing, she focussed on another conversation. She raised her hand. "Miss, what happens if we don't turn it down enough?"

"Good question, Elisa," Celeste said, glad another person was showing interest. "Too high of heat can make the food stick to the pan. Then it might burn. Or it doesn't cook all the way through even though it may look done," she explained as she went over to Elisa's pan and nodded. Everything looked good.

"If you want, you can start adding the rest of the vegetables, and if you like, add some salt, like a half teaspoon. It helps draw out the water from the vegetables and they cook better," she told Elisa.

"Alright, thank you Miss Celeste." thanked Amber, really appreciating the her double checking her station. One can never be too careful in the kitchen after all and when she is unsure, Amber always felt safer to ask! After all... one little mistake was all it took to burn her vegetables... or accidentally summon a greater demon from the abyssal plane. Hopefully her cooking will not turn out so horribly that it would cause a case of demonic intervention~

Aedes furrows her brow, there is something not quite all there with this Euphemia girl. She wondered if the girl was dropped on her head was slightly retarded but kept it to herself. Even if she did try to insult her she suspected that Euphemia was too dense to realize it anyway. For now, she just goes back to cooking, turning up the heat on the stove so that she can finish cooking faster. At least that was the sensible logic going on in her head though if she bothered to overheard the Teacher's explanation to Elisa, she would she would understand that to be a bad idea.

"No problem Amber, keep up the good work," Celeste said as she moved among the cooking stations again, checking each students' vegetables for doneness. Then when everyone's mixture seemed almost ready. Celeste went around and handed each person a jar of fresh tomato puree and a basil leaf.

"When the vegetables are almost done, like now, you add the jar of tomatoes and a basil leaf. Then you cook, stirring it every so often, for about 3 or 4 minutes," she told them.

Amber nods, taking the jar of tomato puree and basil leaves from her teacher. Amber sets the leaves by the counter as she unscrews the top of the jar. Once that satisfying "pop" was heard, Amber poured out the contents of the jar into the pot of vegetables, sprinkling in the basil as she as she stirs all of the ingredients together.

——————————————————————————————————————————————————

As the teacher made her rounds to Aedes, so too took her own jar of tomato paste and basil leaves. She inspects the contents of the jar, wrinkling her nose as she looked up to Celeste and asks, half in jest "Don't suppose we could use use human blood as substitute for the sauce right?"

Not that she really cared or anything, she really didn't plan on eating her creation even if blood was a perfectly okay substitute for the purposes of this dish. Aedes then attempts to pry open the jar but struggles to open unscrew the lid of the jar. In her frustration she bites a little hard on her lower lip, still unable to preform the seemingly simple task as to open a jar of mashed tomatoes...

Humming to herself, Elisa added the Jar of tomatoes. It wasn't hard to open the jar, and she was quickly caught up.

Stirring it, she looked over at Aedes counter. Knowing that blood had the wrong consistency, she chuckled to herself, then walked over. "Mind if I help to open the jar?"
