Hiding from the giggles

Alexavier was sitting on the thick stone wall of one of the balconies, back slumped against the edge of the school for support. He had been in the ballroom, where it was nice and warm and pretty much everything that the ledge was not, but people - girls - kept coming in and dancing until someone noticed them. He'd been horribly confused for more then a bit, but then he'd remembered that the Fall thing was in less then two weeks, and he supposed it was the only thing they hadn't tried.

In truth, it reminded him a bit of birds, flapping their plumage to attract the attention a prospective mate. Although, usually, it was the males who did the dancing, and the admirer was actually present. Come to think of it, maybe that was why they kept looking at him... His head sprung up at this thought, and he wondered for a moment if he shouldn't go back in and apologize to the latest dancer for walking out on her mid-display. It wasn't at all that she wasn't perfectly wonderful at dancing, he was just trying to read, and her music was much too loud to ignore.

He craned his neck towards the huge doors, trying to spot the girl to determine the best course of action. There she was, talking to a tall-ish brown haired guy. So the dancing thing worked... Wow. He shook his head in disbelief, opening his thick book again and flipping through it to find his place. The females who'd streamed in were all more of a nusance then anything else, he had to admit. Pretty much all they did was giggle and do stretches in the tightest clothes they owned until they finally realized no one was watching and stormed out. If he heard another giggle, he swore he was going to kill someone.

He glanced back into the brightly lit ballroom, just catching the happy couple exiting the room, a giggle and a snatch of Mozart's Für Elise floating back on the air. He wasn't even sure if that was actually a song best suited for dancing, but he supposed it'd worked well enough for them. He shrugged, thinking about going back inside but deciding against it. The next girl'd probably be in in a few seconds, anyway. He sighed, turning back to his book yet again.

Dani frowned and bit her lip. "Okay. The only places I have NOT looked for Andrew are in here and the third floor. And the roof. I doubt he'd be up there though.. She went into the ballroom. No sign of Andrew.

"Fur Elise. Nice." She muttered. She was just about to leave when she saw a guy sitting in one of the balconies. She wasn't in a very sociable mood, but maybe he'd seen her brother.

She wandered over. "Hi." She said in a friendly tone, though it was almost forced.

He looked up at her, a bit confused. Why would someone pretend to be friendly, especially to him? She was even quite good at it - there was just a hint of irritation in her voice.

"Hi." He raised an eyebrow at her, flipping his book closed for the moment. "What, you've come out to dance in the moonlight? How positively romantic." He squinted up at her, realizing even as he said this that she wasn't the sort to do that. "Looking for someone?" He could feel her urgency, but the question was still a complete stab in the dark.

Dani bit her lip. Something about him unnerved her. And his previous comment bothered her, but she was the kind that could get ticked off quickly.

"Yeah, Actually, I am." She said calmly, although she didn't want to talk to him anymore." My twin brother. Have you seen him?"

He shrugged, green eyes still focused on the girl looming over him. "I might have. There was a tall brown-haired guy, a really short guy with lime green and black hair and a tall guy with black hair and a pitiful attempt at a beard; but seeing as how you're none of those things... More likely, no."

He glanced up at the sky, furrowing his brow at the clouds that had been inching their way towards the school for hours now - they were quite near, although he really couldn't tell in the moonlight. He stood up, giving the girl a pleasant nod and turning to the door.

It was locked. Horribly and irreversibly locked - he could see a bored-looking prefect slipping out the large doors to the hallway, and he swore quietly. How could she possibly not have seen two people standing on the balcony? It wasn't that dark outside - was it?

He sighed, giving the exquisite doorknob a final rattle and turning away, disgusted. This was not good - the girl seemed to be in quite a hurry, and he wasn't sure what would happen if he told her they were locked out.

"We're locked out." He rather wanted to find out, though.

"They lock the doors at eight, to guard against vampire attacks." He explained further, in case she was new, dropping back onto the railing and swearing again. "Please tell me you can fly or something." ...Not that it was likely she'd take him with her, anyway...

"For reals?" Dani said. No duh. He's just lying. She thought.

When he asked if she could fly, she laughed and shook her head. "Nope. Unfortunately I can't. She thought about what he had said about the vampire attacks. "Um...vampire attacks?" she asked, a little anxiously. She'd never met a vampire before, and she didn't really have any want to.

"For reals?"

Alexavier laughed humorlessly, nodding his head once. "Yep. Yet another reason to hate this place..." He rifled through his backpack, pulling out a jacket and tossing it to her wordlessly. It was annoyingly boyfriendish, but it was cold and he felt bad wearing his coat when she was dressed for the warm innards of the academy.

"Well, I've got illusions and telepathy. I could make a staircase, but ya'd fall straight through it." He ticked his powers off on two fingers, jokingly raising an eyebrow for her opinion on the staircase idea. "What about you? A cat burglar, by any chance?"

"Ah, nothing to actually worry about. The forbidden's full of idiots wandering in, just waiting to get..." He stabbed two fingers dramatically at his neck, grinning ever-so-faintly. "I've never heard of a vampire... Drinking anyone on campus."

[[ooc: I am SOO sorry. I got the colors backwards, therefor the charries. I'm all good now. ]]

Dani took the jacket and put it on. "Thanks." She said.

She raised her eyebrows when he mentioned making a staircase. "Nah, I think I'll pass on that. Thanks for the offer though."

"Nope, not a cat burglar." She paused. Telepathy, huh? That's kind of unnerving. I can control fire to some extent. Well, at least I can shoot it out of my hands. But that probably won't do us much good up here."

Dani jumped when he imitated a vampire. "Well, that's good...about the never heard of them drinking anyone, that is." She said shakily, which surprised her. It took alot for her to get scared.

"Telepathy, huh? That's kind of unnerving."

"Says the girl who shoots fire from her hands. Remind me not to get you mad..." He flashed her a grin, stretching his long legs out on the stone railing. "But you're right... Having someone read your thoughts - that goes beyond creepy." He shuddered at the idea, turning his attention back to her and suddenly shaking his head. "But mine? Not so much - I suck at it. Most I can do is sense emotions, and if they're strong enough for me to feel 'em, I'd probably be able to without powers anyway." He was downplaying it a bit - it was bad enough to be stuck out on a balcony with vampires in the woods and whatnot, but add a mindreader - however weak - you've only just met? Not fun.

He realized she was getting nervous, a twinge of guilt prickling him. "Really, it's nothing to worry about. Just Starlight being... Starlight." He didn't seem to be worried about their predicament; for the most part, he tended to ignore such problems until they either got much worse or went away on their own. But the girl - she was still quite worried at the prospect of vampires.

"You haven't been here very long, hmm?" He half-drawled, both to try and take her mind off the woods to their left and because he was slightly curious.

"Says the girl who shoots fire from her hands. Remind me not to get you mad..." He flashed a grin.. Dani laughed, and it was only a little forced. "Yeah, I wouldn't suggest it. Along with fire, I have a bad temper. And it can get pretty scary." She wasn't proud of her temper, but it wasn't really her fault it was so bad.

"You haven't been here very long, hmm?" Dani shook her head. "No, just a few days. How long have you been here?"
