This was his usual routine. Go into an unknown area of the forest that was on the island to hopefully find new herbs, plants or seeds to use. About 30% of the time he would find something new or slightly different, but most of the time he just stocked up on what he already had. "Stupid island." He muttered to himself, wishing that he could get together with someone that had powers to make new herbs for him. At this rate, he would rip out all of the natural plants off of the island, which would really screw him over. It wasn't his fault that he wanted all the good materials for his sustenance to himself. As he ruffled his hair with his light brown working gloves, he gazed at a pretty looking flower, something that certainly looked new. As he crawled to it on all fours, having his picking bag strapped around his boney shoulder, falling down his side, he sniffed it. "Smells like a mix of a tulip and an orchid." He commented to himself not that it mattered what he though it smelt like, he wasn't an expert on flower smells.

Slowly, the smell left his nostrils, which made him lean in and smell it again, before he unwrapped his bag and placed it beside the mixed smell. It was pretty for a flower, as if it was just for him, like a gift or present from a crush of his, or a lover. Not that he had one. Most people that interested him would walk up and say 'aw', rather than see him as an old being of greed and teabags. It pissed him off. Getting out his digging tools, he neatly placed them on the other side, wondering how long this flower would take to dig up. "You better not be a stubborn little bastard." He warned the plant as he shook his index finger at it.

"Oi!" A voice called out before he could dig up the flower. "That doesn't look like your flower, son." The same voice said. Eliana stood high on one of the trees. She was doing her two favorite activities. Climbing trees and lying, and one of those activities was a total fuckin' lie. Could you guess which?

"I don't like snot-nosed little brats coming into my forest and stealin' my fuckin' flowers. I eat twerps like you." Full disclosure. Not her flower, not her forest, and she didn't eat children. It just seemed fun to scare a kid picking flowers. She hadn't seen the boy up close and so wasn't aware he wasn't truly a child. Even then, she still would have tried the prank.

The night was cool. Eliana usually clubbed at night, but there were times she spent long hours in the forest trying to scare people. It was funny, ironic, even, that many islanders were spooked by demons. It was the stigma, and it was awesome.

He wanted to run away the minute he heard a girls' voice. One that was high up, in the trees, staring down on him like some god. As he pinpointed a radius that the voice could be coming from. Though the sentences and spewed out of the branches was not the most polite, he wasn't the faint of heart. Smirking up at the trees, he kept his position, hovered around the plant. "Why would I believe that any of that was true? If this whole place was yours, then why wouldn't you be down here, chopping off my hands?" That thought scared him minorly, as that would certainly mean his death. He needed his hands, for as long as he had to survive off of stupid thing that grew out of the ground.

Her first point was true though, the plant wasn't hers, but it wasn't like there were any flower police telling him he couldn't. "I eat this." He said in a monotone voice as the pointed his index finger again at the plant. "Plus, I'm not stealing it, I'm using it." He grunted up at her, not wanting someone else to think that they had power over him because he looked young. "Why don't you claim down?" Even though night was his favorite time, that, of course, didn't mean he wanted to be around others.

"Seems needlessly violent," she said in a much calmer voice when he asked why she hadn't chopped off his hands. "Also, I like eating people whole. Lot less messy. Doesn't mess up my clothes."

It was at this point that Eliana climbed down from her vantage point. She was wearing her usual punk gear, because night and awesomeness. Only reasons necessary. She stood with a roguish grin and her hands balled into first and placed on her hips.

"Using it without permission. Which is totally stealing. I have a hungry fuckin' family. If they don't get that, they might die. You don't know. Could you even live with yourself if other, poor children died?" She had to admit, the kid was ballsy. "Also, I'm perfectly calm." Not that she blamed him for not realizing that. The Irish were always loud, and some people construed loud as angry.

"Now, if you want me to chop off your hands. I can do that. I'm all right with that, even. I just don't feel like it would be convenient for the either of us."

He liked the way she talked. Every letter that came out was like a fire. Everything was so spontaneous and hot headed. It was nice for him to have met someone that wasn't so, dull. It was a thrill to talk to her, even though the thought of this unknown person eating up a person's whole was a bit, shocking.

As the mysterious voice jumped down into his view, she wasn't what he expected her to be. She looked so, new, refreshing. Most people her he met were so plainly dressed; skirts with fancy shirts, jeans and t-shirts. It was the norm for this time but, it was still nice to see the unique ones. He got out of his little trance as she started up with the flower again. "Yeah." He said coldly to his remark on killing children. He felt no sympathy for this girls' family, whether it be fake, imaginary or living. "It's not like this stupid flower will allow them to live. Most people eat actual food, unlike me." It wasn't as if a complete stranger would understand his complex eating arrangement.

Now that he could see her, to fade at her movements and see what she was saying, she was calm. Maybe a bit too calm, as if she was so sure of everything she did. Confidence. "Oh, I'd rather not experience any extreme pain today, if I don't have to." He looked into her eyes, smirking wildly at her. He wasn't just some little boy, he was a greedy, tea drinking vampire.

"I dunno, kid, you're in Manta Carlos, 'most people' don't really apply here, does it?" Her grin, in turn to his, stretched wider. She walked leisurely over to him, swaying her hips to some unheard beat. "I like the cut of your jib; I think I'll let you keep your hands -- today."

When she had reached him, Eliana leaned down, so she was face to face with him, her nose almost brushing his. She had no concept of personal space when others might want it. Who wouldn't wish to be near her? She was awesome. She narrowed her eyes. He looked young, but he was tall. Wait, how tall were kids? Damn her lack of knowledge of children! She had noted the red eyes. So def not human, big surprise. A lot of creatures could have red eyes, though.

"I'm gonna need some ID for that flower, son." Best way to ask for someone's age. "While we're at it, I want something to call you other than kid, and don't make me come up with the name, you won't like it if I have to do that."

She liked his jib? The term seemed so old, which was saying something. As she got close to her, he couldn't help but get a bit red in the cheeks, as it had been a long time since someone wanted to be that close to him. "U-Uh." He muttered out, losing a bit of his cool, as this girl was more unpredictable then he expected. She was pretty, one of the finer girls that he had seen in his long lifespan.

"Oh, that shit." He said to her coldly, as of course, before his transformation, most 12 year olds didn't have IDs. That was also one of the ways he had kept a lowish profile. "Would my word count?" He backed his face up enough to get a good look at her, leaning his body weight on his arms, which were behind him now. "I'm 112." He said boldly, as most people didn't even believe that. "And you can call me Monochrome, what about you lady?" He liked it when he treated 'older' people with little to no respect, it made him feel a certain fire in his chest, a pride.

"Not a witch or anything then. Hrm. Werewolves tend to have yellow eyes. I'm going to assume you're a vampire or a demon." Eliana stood tall. She didn't mind the disrespect, but Eli didn't really consider herself an adult, so...

"I think I'll call you Chrome because it sounds way cooler than Monochrome. Like, what the fuck? Please tell me that ain't an original name. Did your parents hate you?" Then Eliana held out a hand, but not in position to be shaken. She held it, knuckles out like she expected him to kiss them. "I'm Eliana Ria. You new around here? I haven't seen you...then again, you are," her eyes swept over all of him, "probably not the type I'd see in any bars."

She'd place the toe of her boot on the flower. Retribution for being disrespected. Oh, she didn't care that he'd shown her disrespect, but she wouldn't let him get off free either. That wasn't fun in the least.

"Vampire." He chirped in after her. "Though not a normal one, hence the plants." It wasn't as if she cared, so he stopped saying peeps all things to her. If she wanted to know she would ask. "Yeah no, I hated my old name, I mean I don't remember it anymore." It was true, though there is a faint memory of it starting with A, or maybe G. The statement about his parents could also be debatable. They didn't hate him persay, but they weren't the most protecting or caring ones either. "But call me whatever."

Staring at her now weirdly extended hand, he crossed his arms and glared at it, unsure of what he was supposed to do. As he heard her name, it sounded a bit familiar, maybe because she was 'popular' with others, for reasons that Monochrome would not be able to experience quite as well. "I've heard of you." He nodded, then skipped onto the next question. "Newish. I keep to myself." He added on, then nodded to the comment of being in bars. He had been in a few, but most had kicked him out, claiming that even though he was well over the drinking age, his alcohol tolerance was still that of a twelve year old. That was find though, as it tasted bitter.

Noticing what she had done to his poor flower, a loud grunt came out of his mouth. She wasn't the nice type, that was for sure. She was treating him like a child, but it wasn't like she could change anything. "Your fault if I attack you for that." He smirked, as the girl still thought that he as a normal vampire.
