Hal let out a small chuckle. A rather soft and carefree chuckle — something that was probably unexpected given how he had been acting rather egotistically in the past few minutes. There was a calm smile on his face, partly amused at how Wind fumbled for something to clean up her little mishap, and partly because of nostalgia.

"We have our own nervous ticks." He tells her coolly. "I mean really, someone could have had it worse. You can freeze the whole door and no one would exactly eat you up for it." His first days on the island weren't any better, he admitted to himself. Those days were mostly spent trying not to get caught — at one point, he had been so stressed from everything that nearly all the lighting in a nearby building just went out and almost all the electronics in sight stopped working. Thankfully, there weren't much people around when that happened and truthfully, he doesn't want anyone to know about that specific incident or it could spell trouble.

Hal knelt down next to her and lent her a hand with cleaning up the puddle as he continued: "To be honest, during the first day of classes for me, I literally collapsed. I found out my body went out of sync with my mind from over-thinking, so I pretty much passed out in front of the whole class."

Wind was starting to think she shouldn't overreact about her powers here. That was 2 people now who had basically said the same thing: having powers here is not a big deal.
"You passed out in front of the whole class? That must've been really embarrassing. I know I would've been, once I woke up and found out what happened."
She tossed the used paper towels in a nearby trashcan and then stood up, put the rest away in her backpack and looked in the door to see that the kids were still milling around.

"Humiliating, really.." Hal laughed as he stood up, tossing the few paper towels he had used up to the same trash bin. He was supposed to make a cool kid impression that time. He wanted a fresh new reputation in a new city but after that? He figured wasn't going to be cool kid material with that. "Probably what they call first day jitters, I guess. You'll get the hang of it soon enough."

Hal scanned the hallway. It was mostly empty, save for some students who still don't seem to have any serious business with their own classrooms. Some just stood by the doors probably waiting for a miracle, if not their own class instructors. His gaze went back to Wind's class and that was mostly the case, except that it seems most kids were already familiar with each other.

"Just keep it cool and you'll be fine."

She replied,
"I guess I'd better get inside. The teacher will probably be here any minute. Thanks for your help, Hal. Do you want to meet up again, like at lunch or something?"
She asked the question hesitantly, as if she wasn't sure what he would say. She loved that people were so friendly here. She hoped she wasn't being overly friendly.

Hal seemed to stare off into space when Wind dropped the question. Lunch with someone? That sure would be a change of pace. In the past few weeks, he's usually ate lunch alone. He usually spent his breaks alone.

At some point in the past, he had one or two for company who went and asked to share the table with him, but no one really asked to hang around him a second time. Maybe because he space out too often? It was a possibility. Or yeah maybe he should try actually being nice for a change. But old habits die hard.

Tucking his hands into his hoodie's pockets, he smiled, "Sure thing." He didn't mind eating with someone every once in a while. Since he couldn't even practice with anyone. This was okay.

"I'll see you at lunch then, Ann." he said turning around and began to walk off. "Meet you at the cafeteria." he said, waving his hand as he walked. He's going to bet he's already late for class but when was he not?

"Thanks so much, see you at lunch, too, Hal," she replied and stood there for a second, watching him walk away. Then she opened the door and entered her new classroom.

(OOC: Do you just want to go straight over to the cafeteria thread and do you want to start the new thread or should I? Please let me know! Thanks!)
