Hanging out in an empty, dirty room

October sighed inwardly. She was running out of things to say... well, sort of. She could talk a lot sometimes, after all. A slight frown tugged at the corners of her mouth at his silence, though she didn't allow it to actually make its way there. She turned away from him, looking out the window again. She'd try talking to him again... but not at the moment.

October continued to look out the window. She did wonder why the boy refused to talk to her. Perhaps it was because he couldn't talk or hear, or maybe there was another reason. Bad past, perhaps? She didn't know for sure, but she did know that bad pasts usually could cause people to change. Her sister, for example. But she wasn't even sure if he had had a bad past... so she wasn't going to start assuming things. She remained silent, still looking out the window and just thinking.

The silence was getting to her. Even if she ended up just talking and he didn't answer, she'd be fine. The girl turned around again, looking at him for a while. He looked to be the same age as her now that she was actually paying attention. She bit the inside of her lip, still doubting he would say anything. But who knew, maybe talking to him would end up being worth it.

"So..." she started. "Have you been coming to the academy long?" He was in the building, after all. She was assuming he was a student here.

October's bright smile returned when he shook his head. An answer!!! He had answered her!!! Even if he hadn't spoke, he'd at least acknowledged the fact that she was there and talking to him other than blinking! She was sure now that he wasn't deaf, since he had done that. However, she still wasn't sure whether or not he could still actually talk. Maybe all she had to do was ask yes or no questions...

She thought for a while. Asking for powers wasn't yes or no, name wasn't yes or no, age wasn't yes or no... none of the interesting stuff was yes or no. Ah, well, she'd still be able to come up with some stuff, she was sure of it.

She came up with at least something, though was still thinking of more subjects. "Do you like it here so far?" she asked.

October was about to ask him why, but realized it wasn't a yes or no question before she did so. She nodded, though, still glad that he had answered her. "Have you met anyone else here?" she asked. It was hard to keep a conversation going with only yes or no questions.... but she would do it, even if it meant coming up with the most random questions imaginable.
