Hail to the King

After his conversation with Jude, Travis had to perform some tests. He'd texted Rory to meet him in their usual sparring spot. He'd also mention it was super important. He couldn't do this stuff a few days ago and now he just needed some practice. Nice thing about Rory was he knew for sure he could take the hits he'd dish out.

Shit was weird now, with the healing, the other shit. It was almost like his body knew what he wanted and just... did it. He could remember a few instances in Halcyon where that sort of happened. But those powers went away shortly after. Shit was weird now, everyone seemed to be changing differently and rapidly.

Travis half expected something like this from Rory. The nice thing about this, and their location meant he could test out the one new ability he'd gained that he couldn't test in Officer Genovese's yard. It would be a nice opener too. Let her know that she was dealing with a new and improved Kaiju.

"Yeet," he said flatly, and unleashed a shockwave to knock her off his back.

"I'm not the same little lizard, Rory Philips!"

Travis braced, like he normally would. At the point Rory was in striking range he'd side step her, and blast back with a kinetically enhanced open handed thrust. This was gonna be fun. Practical applications.

"But like, nah. I got buffs Rory. Buffs!"

Travis took the hit to his back, effectively absorbing the energy of the impact. Then he turned and fired a small beam at Rory, again small enough to knock her off balance. Travis had to think a bit more tactically when it came to using his energy since it could be used in so many ways. He actually jumped away from her, firing tiny shards of metal at her like bullets. That would stall an immediate pursuit at least.

"Is it half as cool as that shit though?"

"You asked for it, you cheeky fuck."

There was very little warning. Travis launched himself at Rory with a sudden burst of speed she wouldn't have seen from him in the past. He balled his hand into a fist and went for a gut punch.

"Remember that shit about channeling my kinetic energy? I think my body listened."
