Name: Grey
Age: Unknown, Mentally/Physically about 6-8
Birthday: Unknown
Gender: AFAB Male
Species: Fae-touched Human
Category: Student
Class: Elementary
Grade: Grade 1
Appearance Description:
At 3'3", Grey is short even for his apparent age. He is an unusually small child who's always wearing a large, grey hooded coat, which makes it hard to discern anything about his figure or build. Since his arrival on the island, he also wears insulated gloves and boots. If he removes these, his hands and feet crackle with electricity. Normally he wears his hood up, and it's deep enough to hide his face, but if it's down, he appears to be a normal human child with short blond hair and wide green eyes.
Personality Description:
Grey is for all intents and purposes a typical little boy, although perhaps more rambunctious, uncontrolled, and naive because of his lack of adult influence. He has all the selfishness and innocent trust of a child, and is very much unable to comprehend adult concepts, in part because of no experience, but also because the magic in his coat stunts his mental growth. If asked, Grey would say he just wants to play and never grow up. He has frequent tantrums and other emotional outbursts, and is stubbornly independent while also becoming very attached to parental figures.
Active Abilities:
Fae Artifact, Magic Coat - Stops his physical aging somewhere around 6-8 years, rendering him effectively ageless, though not otherwise immortal. Also stunts his mental growth, leaving him unable to learn at a normal rate. If the coat was removed, he would age rapidly at about a year a day until it was put back on or he reached his natural age. However, most of the mental damage would remain. The coat doesn't grant any speedier healing, but does give him a slight resistance to disease - he is much less likely to get sick, and it tends to pass more quickly.
Another effect of the coat is dampening of his natural powers. Without the coat, the electricity he generates spreads throughout his body, uncontrolled and slowly killing him, as well as discharging potentially fatal bolts of electricity into the environment.
The coat never gets dirty, is tough as strong leather and tear-resistant, is non-flammable, and is largely self-repairing (if torn to shreds would repair in 24 hours). Iron would cut through the coat like butter, and would require fae magic to repair. The coat is sized to fit Grey, but would work for anyone who was small enough to wear it. If stolen, it will appear somewhere near Grey after about 2 days.
Passive Abilities:
Electricity is in my soul - Grey's body is constantly generating electricity. Even with the coat, touching his skin would deliver a painful electric shock, akin to a strong electric fence, into anyone who touched him. At the moment he cannot control this electricity, and is not immune to electric shock either. The school has provided him with insulated boots and gloves to prevent him from accidentally shocking anyone.
Weaknesses:
Iron weakness - just like a fae, being touched with iron will cause nasty, slow healing burns.
Citizen of Lost Boy's Court - His time in the Lost Boy's Court in Underhill has rendered him unable to retain most memories when he sleeps, but as he spends time away this capacity is returning, though memories already lost will not.
Biography:
As far as Grey is concerned, he's lived in Underhill his whole life, an idyllic childhood in the Lost Boy's Court, roaming free and playing with the other children. This is not exactly false, but not the whole story either. Though he doesn't know it, Grey was taken from his human family at birth by certain fae, and replaced with a changeling. These mysterious fae consider themselves guardians of children who would otherwise die. They give each stolen child a coat to prevent them growing up and bring them to the Lost Boy's Court, where the magic of Underhill prevents them from remembering any troubles.
Grey might have continued this way forever, living each day in eternal youth, provided for by unknown benefactors who were either hidden or forgotten. But not all fae are so kind. Some more powerful fae decided they didn't want to see children, especially human children, living off resources they could use. There was a war within the Lost Boy's Court. The invaders eventually took over, using the children as slaves or for trade. But they found that the memory magic effected them as well, so they began to travel back and forth using portals.
Scared, Grey managed to escape an inattentive captor and travel through an open portal. As long as he didn't sleep, he'd remember. Unfortunately, the child couldn't stay awake forever and soon forgot why he had wandered. Unable to make his way back, he was found by a friendlier fae. In a stroke of luck, this fae had no need for a slave, but also no desire for a child. They sent the boy through a portal to Manta Carlos, where hopefully his own people would deal with him.
Resources: Living at and under care of orphanage. Caretaker is Silhouette Patapon.
