'Deciple of the Sun'. It sounded like a cult. Also, sun-related powers sounded very vague. She wondered what his abilities entailed: glowing? light blasts? photosynthesis? She highly doubted the last one but he had her curious. It certainly explained why his hair appeared to emit light.

Honua didn't really know the name of her power and trying to explain it made it sound crap. "It's easier if i just show you," she explained. Moving up her bed, she reached out and touched the wooden bedside table. Her hand suddenly became timber and spread rapidly over her body until she looked like a wood carving. She could still move freely but had the properties of whatever she became. "Ta da," she said half heartidly.

William was watching so intently that he very nearly jumped backed when Honua's skin seemed to turn into wood. He managed to keep his composure, but that didn't stop his mouth from hanging open slightly.

"Whoa...." he muttered. "So, you can turn your skin into whatever you touch. Or does that rule just apply to wood.?" He thought that being able to turn your skin into wood only would be quite disadvantageous, but he wasn't one to judge.

This thought brought upon another. He scooted further back onto his bed in a near panic and tucked his legs into his body. "Maybe you shouldn't get too close to me when you turn into wood," Will said. "You know, fire abilities and all." He demonstrated this ability by producing a small flame on his finger, but he put it out just as quickly.

"Not just wood, any solid material," she explained as the wood suddenly became flesh again. After first discovering her powers, Honua hated them. She saw them as something else that set her apart from everyone else but as time passed, she grew to like them more and more. It came in handy in certain circumstances but she had to be wary when she became some materials.

That was a point William made. Wood came with the fear of fire, metal could be melted and glass could be shattered. She didn't know what would happen to her if that happened and she didn't want to think about it. Her regeneration was extremely fast but Honua didn't want to test the limits of it. "You're right." She watched as the flame danced on his finger for only a second. The ability to control fire seemed like a cool power and appealed to Honua but she had to make do with what she had.

The room once again transformed into a state of silence, and William once again found himself extremely uncomfortable. There had to have been something to talk about. Even if there were many subjects he could bring up, he didn't want to talk about something random.

"So, is there anything else you want to know about me?" he asked. "I'm not usually one to talk about myself, but I feel like we should know about each other if we're gonna be sharing a room. If you have anything to ask, you can."

Oh great, a bonding session. She had little interest in him but there was one aspect she wanted to know more about. "How long have you been fighting for?" Small talk was never Honua's specialty, she liked to get straight to the point. It was good to know the experience he had, just in case.

"So, did you're cult thing teach you?" She asked a second time, gesturing to those tattoos again. If he wanted to show people that he was part of some group, she would have thought something like a necklace would have been more subtle but would have given the message that he wanted. The idea of two tattooes on the back of his hands seemed a little overkill.

Will thought hard about the answer to the first question. How long had he been fighting? He knew that it had definitely been a long time, but he couldn't come up with an exact answer immediately. It came to him after a few seconds. "I've been fighting since I was six years old," he said. "So that would make it eleven years now." His eyes widened at the realization. "Jeez. I guess I never realized how long I've been fighting."

The second question confused Will. He had never heard of a "cult" before, and it especially confused him when she gestured to his markings. "I'm not quite sure what a cult is," he said, "but other demigods that were like me taught me. Other Disciples of the Sun. Like I said, these markings show what kind of demigod you are. Everyone back in my world had some kind of marking on their hands."

Will realized he had been talking about his home world like it was normal. "Are you from some place here on Earth?" he asked.

That was quite a few years longer than she had been for but she wasn't going to tell him that. Despite starting in her early teens, she worked hard every day to be the best she could be - she had reason to. It also helped a lot with her anger. Since arriving on the island, she didn't let her daily tradition fade either. She spent most mornings in the gym or focusing her mana.

'My world'? Did that mean he wasn't from Earth? What he said about where he was from kind of interested Honua. "I take it you're not from this planet then?" she asked. Other questions arose in her mind too about him but she held back on them. "Yeah, I'm from the island of Hawai'i," she replied.

"No, I'm not from this planet," Will said, "but I'm not quite sure it would be appropriate to say that I'm from another planet, if that makes any sense. We didn't have a solar system. I think the right world would be 'realm'." He had never really thought about it when he was there, of course, but it was quite a confusing system when he did think about it.

Will smiled to himself. "It's strange, really. I think I might know more about Earth than I know about my home. That might sound weird, but I was deliberately learning as much as I could about Earth. Before I knew Earth existed, I was just kinda living life.

"For example, Hawaii was something I've known about for a while. A lot of demigods came back from Earth with stories about their experiences there. It's in the... Southern Hemisphere, correct? Is it as nice there as people say it is?"

She was a little confused when he tried to explain where he came from. Did that mean he was, like, from another dimension rather than a planet? The idea of knowing more about another planet than your own home confused her too.

"No. It's still north of the equator but it is a very beautiful island...." she trailed off, thinking of the home she left behind. She didn't want to leave her friends, her parents, the life she knew but it was her father that convinced her to 'take the opportunity'. However, she was glad to have an escape from some memories that still haunted her on that island. Honua kept an emotionless expression as he mind wandered with thoughts until she realised she was day dreaming. "Do you miss your home?" she finally said.

Will frowned after hearing that Hawaii is north of the equator. "Hm. Well, I guess I'll have to brush up on my geography knowledge." With this in mind, he began thinking of other places he had heard a lot about. New York was one of them, the most notable things being the absurd amount of people, the Empire State Building, and the Statue of Liberty. Paris held the famous Eiffel Tower.

Will could have gone like that for hours on end had Honua not asked her question. The answer to this question was easier. "I do, sometimes," he said. "It's usually when I'm just sitting around doing nothing that I found myself with some homesickness. I try not to think about it too much."

Will smiled to himself. "It's not too bad, though. I'm going to be returning home for a few days during summer break, so hopefully some of my homesickness will be cured." He turned to Honua. "What about you? Do you miss home?"
