Honua sat on her bed reading a novel that she borrowed from the library that morning. She was never good at reading many books but she decided she'd give it a go. It seemed as though any fictional book could be real based on what she had seen on the island so far. She didn't quite understand why people liked the idea of reading about a made up character's life when they could go and lead their own lives instead. After three chapters, she gave up, closed the book and tossed it to the end of her bed.

She looked around her dorm, a dorm that was pretty bare. That wasn't going to last long. She was supposed to be getting a new roommate. Great. Honua would rather be left alone in that empty room than have to put up with another person. A oerson she didn't even know and didn't want to know. The academy seemed like a massive place; surely there was room for the person elsewhere.

William was ashamed to admit that he was thoroughly lost. He thought that it would be fairly simple to find the room, but it had been the complete opposite of that. Will wasn't sure if his sense of direction was simply failing him, or dorm rooms had really been that hard to find. He assumed the former.

He was supposed to be transferring to a new room, one with an actual person in it. The room he had previously been in felt too empty without the company of another person, so he had applied for a roommate. Fortunately, he had yet to become accustomed to his old room, so it wasn't hard to say goodbye.

Eventually, he found the door he was looking for. The number on the door and the number on the paper he was given matched up. However, he found himself rooted to the spot. What was he was supposed to do? Surely he couldn't just walk in there, but maybe it wasn't necessary to knock. This unnecessary nervousness annoyed him greatly, so he simply settled for knocking.

"Hello?" he said loudly. "Anyone home?"

After knocking and the sound of a guy behind the door, Honua sighed, arose from the bed and walked over to the door. She was expecting a girl but the voice sounded masculine. Opening the door, there stood a boy around her age with bright white hair. She couldn't decide whether his hair was glowing or if light was reflecting off of it. Looking him up and down, she noticed the tattoos on the back of his hands.

"I guess you're the new roommate?" she asked, moving to the side to allow him in. After he had entered the room, she closed the door behind him and sat cross legged on her bed. It was probably best she stayed out of his way whilst he brought his stuff in. She just watched, trying to decide what kind of person he was.

Once the door was opened, Will was greeted by a girl with long, purple hair and golden eyes not much dimmer than his own. He waited patiently as she looked him over, and then slowly walked in. He noted that the room was quite bare. It wouldn't be too much different once he finished unpacking.

"Yes, I am," he answered, sitting on the other bed in the room. He set down his two rolling suitcases in front of him. After sitting in silence for a few seconds, deciding on what to say next, he settled for the simplest statement: "It's nice to meet you. My name is William." He held out his hand for her to shake in almost instinctive courtesy. "What's yours?"

"Honua. Honua Kapule," she answered. William seemed nice enough but was still trying to determine if it was a facade. She had met many people who pretended to be nice and they are a very different person on the inside. Somehow, she got the feeling this boy was not like that.

After another few seconds of silence, she asked, "How come you're moving in here? Are you new?" She had never come across the boy before, which wasn't surprising considering she avoided people. His hair was definitely glowing, Honua decided, but she didn't want to ask about it. She wouldn't want someone asking her a load of questions so she thought she would leave it for later. The light better not keep her awake at night.

William slowly rubbed the back of his head, forming the words in his head carefully. He didn't want to give off the wrong impression. Honua seemed like a person that got right to the point, which wasn't necessarily a bad thing, but he didn't want to end up saying the wrong thing.

"I guess I'm kind of new," he said. "I've been here for two weeks. I didn't want to be a bother to anyone, so I thought I'd be fine with living alone. It quickly became excruciatingly boring, considering the only thing I really had to keep me company was my books. And that's saying something, considering I have quite a lot." He tapped one of the suitcases to emphasize that point.

"So, I decided that I wanted a roommate," he continued. "Since I have very little possessions, it was easier for me to move instead of having someone else move. And, uh, that's why I'm here now."

Honua just watched him as he spoke. It seemed like her room would be filled with the very thing that she found boring and pointless - books. To her, it was like some sort of joke: she threw down a book and a whole case of them appeared. No doubt the room will smell of old paper. They might all have to accidentally disappear when her new roommate was out.

"Well, don't touch my stuff and we'll be fine," she lied. There were numerous ways that this boy would probably get on her nerves but telling someone that you are going against them would put their guard up (and probably isn't best for a first impression). She didn't tell him that she would keep out of his stuff, though. She would totally go through his stuff when he wasn't around to see if he was hiding anything that could affect her in any way.

"I won't," Will said. "Promise."

Once Will had finished placing his books onto a nearby bookshelf, he sat back down onto the bed. Almost immediately, things were too quiet for his liking, so he looked around for some sort of topic of conversation. He quickly found that there wasn't really much to talk about in the immediate area.

He looked down at his hands, at the markings specifically. At this point, he was just searching for something to focus on while he thought.

"So, uh... what do you like to do?" he asked. "I, myself, like reading, but I guess you knew that already. I also like fighting--well, not like serious fights, or anything. More like sparring. What about you?"

Honua was fine with the silence, hoping that her new roommate would be one of those quiet types. She looked at all the books - it was pretty obvious he liked to read. Only now that he mentioned fighting did she realise that he was quite muscular. Too much muscle meant too much weight and too much weight meant the person would be slower. She reckoned she could take him.

"Fighting too, actually." She didn't want to give much away of her fighting style or her experience, just in case the time ever came where she would be against him. Sparring was okay but it did nothing to help her. When she fought, she didn't hold back much. Her main style taught her to manipulate the limbs of her opponant, be it moving them into uncomfortable positions or simply breaking the bones. She wouldn't fight, say, William like that, unless he posed a threat towards her, which she highly doubted. That was when it would get really fun.

"What's with the tattoos?" she finally asked, gesturing to his hands. She imagined he was in some kind of cult or something. She did not wan any of that shit going on in her room.

Although Will's face remained expressionless, he could already feel the excitement growing inside of him after hearing Honua liked to spar. He had found a potential sparring partner, the first he had found since he came here. However, he didn't get his hopes up.

When Honua asked about the tattoos, he held up both hands for her to see. "These markings signify that I'm a Disciple of the Sun," he said. "Simply put, they mean I'm a demigod with Sun-related powers." He allowed the markings to flash briefly.

"If you don't mind me asking, what kind of powers do you have? If any, of course. I probably shouldn't assume."
