"Well, that's good for you." Shay took a step away from him as he stepped near her. She eyed his hands warily. "Don't do that. I don't want to be touched right now, Kenta."
Kentas smile quickly fell at her reaction. "Shay..?" She... Didn't answer him... Or was this... Was that promise not enough? Kenta didn't know what to do here. He just stood there, dumbfounded.
Shay sighed at the look he wore. Like she'd kicked a puppy. She looked away from him. "Yeah, then we'll be friends again, Kenta."
She shuffled a bit, trying not to look at him. Her voice and face held a careful neutrality, hiding any pain she might have felt. "Anyway, I should...get back to the movie before anyone realizes I'm gone."
"..." When she looked away, Kenta looked down. She... Agreed but... Kenta clenched his fist at his side, trying to regain the confidence he felt before. He brought his eyes back up to her and put up his same old smile, or as best he could. He nodded, holding back any tears, though the ones from before still stained his cheeks when they caught the light of the streetlamps.
"Alright..." He said as normally as he could. "I'll see you soon..."
She nodded slowly, barely glancing at him. "Before I go....tell me more about this other Kitsune. I want to know everything about her..."
And... back to confusion. She won't even look at him... But wants to know all about Nee-chan? "Um... Like what?" He asked, completely lost. "Nee-chan is... New to the island... Came from Japan, though I guess you assumed as much... Um..." What was he supposed to explain? Maybe... He should just introduce them after all this.
"Why is she all of a sudden helping you? When did you two meet? Why are you so close already?" At this point, Shay didn't feel like she was doing a good job of hiding her growing irritation.
Her anger should have been hot, like fire, but it wasn't. It rubbed her innards like salt and settled like cold ice in the pit of her stomach.
"Um..." She had gotten... intense. Why was she so curious about her? "She... Just wants to help. Nee-chan is nice and..." He stopped and shook his head. "Shay, whats gotten into you? You sound... bothered... Angry at... I don't understand. What did I do wrong now?"
Shay clenched her fists at her side, a few tears slipping down her cheek. Her voice was shrill when she snapped, "just answer me!" She had the desire to run off, find a few coins, and make a call. That could wait. It had to wait. She had to know the answers to her questions. She had to know. She didn't want to, but she had to.
"S-shay...." He let out a sigh. He wanted to hug her or... something. He felt she wouldn't let him though... He wouldn't yell back either... That ended badly last time. "We...
