Devias had mostly taken advantage of logs and rocks as a place to sit his butt down while working, and also the aforementioned ability to create surfaces with his inherited void magic. She made sense though, and so he nodded in agreement. A comfortable place to sit was always a great thing to have.
Being given the go signal for helping to maintain the books, Devias closed his notes and stacked them neatly on the corner of the desk, before getting on one knee to inspect the books. "Some of these have been water damaged," he said as he picked one up and cracked it open. The wavy pages confirmed what he had suspected. Although they were dry now, the waviness made it thicker than it should be, which while it might not seem much, it does play into the problem of reduced storage space for other books.
This would be a good start as any. If it had any other major damage, he would simply put them on another pile for special treatment. "I'll start by fixing these." He picked out the books that had been damaged by water and put them on a pile on a separate desk. He couldn't pile them high or else they would just topple. At least not all of them had been damaged in that way, however, in addition to water damage, he did find a few with loose pages, something he'd have to take care of a little later.
"I will need to get my tools. I won't take long," he'd tell Aswan, and if she had nothing else to tell him, then he would open up a portal right there to his dorm and disappear into it. She could peer through, but wouldn't see anything interesting, except for maybe a stuffed black dragon on one of the beds.
