That was... actually kind of a good idea. Normally people running for council had been around a while. They were natives, or people who had been around enough to feel confident, but few people ran on an actual platform of I'm new and establishing myself, and so are a lot of people. It was a good point, and the idea sprung a lot of other ideas up as well.

"That... is actually a pretty good idea," Jude said after a moment. "I hadn't thought about that. I guess I'd gotten into the mindset that I was a young up and comer and I'd have a harder time competing against people who'd been here longer like Alma, but... it doesn't have to be that way. With how many people come to the island every year, there's a constant bunch of new people to appeal to who might want to intentionally see someone new on the council..."

Oh boy did he have ideas, and he grinned widely at Violeta, who no doubt would be able to feel his gratitude just coming off him in waves.

"Thanks a ton. Honestly, just this helped a lot. I can handle getting the posters up I think, but if I need any help, I'll definitely give you a call."

It wasn't just gratitude coming from Jude. The guy seemed pretty excited about the whole campaigning thing and, well, that was good for Violeta too. She hadn't really thought she was giving much in the way of advice. She had just remembered being new to the island. Though it actually wasn't the only time recently she had been giving advice to someone. Maybe that counselor thing in the VR wasn't that far of a stretch after all.

"Yeah, you can be the new voice keeping things relatable or something. I'm really glad I could help even this much. And I don't sleep so if i'm not doing something already i'm usually available," she said as she gave a thumbs up. A glance over towards the coffee reminded her that she had got it just because she felt like she should but it was going cold. Such a waste.

Looking back up towards Jude she had an idea. Well more of a fleeting thought she wanted to bounce off of someone and Jude seemed like a good choice for that. "Hey Jude, I know you're pretty new here but i'm sure they had counselors where you come from too. Do you think it would be wrong for me to try being a counselor even though I feed on bad emotions?"

Jude made a mental note that she didn't sleep, but at that point it was just noise to him. It wasn't important, because at that point he did sleep, and had no reason to assume that would change anytime soon.

"They had counselors," Jude confirmed, but after that he took a moment, pausing to consider. He was pretty sure he knew the answer to her question, but he wanted to ask anyway. To know for sure, because if she was going to go that way, she'd probably have to answer that very question a lot.

" I guess it would depend on why. If you want to do it to feed, then obviously that would be bad, but if you want to do it to help people, then I don't think you should let other people's wariness about your motives get in the way. Being a counselor is a good job, and as long as your feeding isn't going to get in the way, there's no reason you shouldn't be able to do it."

Violeta seemed like she was seriously thinking about her response. There were actually several minutes as she sat there staring up and away from Jude, almost like she was staring into space. "Um," she started sort of hesitantly, "I'm not sure. I know that I want to help people. I want to be the kind of person that I needed when I was little." She frowned a little as she thought about that.

"I guess I just can't say for sure that my hunger for people's emotions won't get in the way. It's pretty strong. I do have all the time I need to figure it out though. Not like i'm going to get too old to do the job any time soon," she finished with a grin though it seemed a little forced.

She excused herself for a moment and took the coffee to the bathroom to pour it out in the sink before returning. No reason to let the room-temperature coffee just sit there. "By the way," she said as she sat back down, "I don't know why no one else decided to join us. They missed out on a good time for sure."

Jude didn't mind the silence. It wasn't awkward. He'd spent time in silence, alone with his own thoughts, and it was hard to say he even was alone anymore. Not with Gill. There was always that presence there, that sense of another person being over his shoulder.

Whether good or bad.

"There's probably an opportunity for someone to do therapy with people who... can't physically be there? Like, remotely. Then it wouldn't be a concern you'd have to have." He wasn't sure how viable that was. Some people could use that, but not all, and maybe not enough for a full customer base.

He grinned up at Violeta as she returned.

"Got lost, probably," Jude said with a laugh. "But it was nice talking with you. I should probably get going, but this was... really nice. We should do this more often."

She was pretty sure doing some sort of remote therapy wouldn't work too well as a career choice but at least Jude had been kind enough to try to come up with a solution. Maybe if she really practiced she could learn to control that part of her that was always drawing her towards the most emotional people. Either way she needed to finish high school first.

She laughed too, "I don't know, if they got lost on the way here they may never make it to classes." It was amusing thinking about most of the 12th grade class just getting lost trying to go from classroom to classroom. "I'm glad I came. Maybe we can set something up like a regular after school meetup for 12th graders or something. That's a thing that makes sense for 'normal' highschoolers like us right?"

Violeta gave another smile and then began to get her cloak wrapped back around her properly so she could leave. The hateful sun was still out there, ready to burn her. But she would never have chosen to do night school instead. Night was her time to have fun.

"We should," Jude said. "Maybe after elections are over, we can make it a regular thing. Talk about homework and tests and all that... normal stuff."

He felt out of touch, but he wasn't that bad. It just felt very long ago.

But at the same time, it felt good. Normal.

"Thanks for hanging out with me, Violeta."

He left just before she did, heading off back to home.
