Getting to Know Some Other Students

Jackie peered around from behind a tree. There was someone new standing right in front of her. What would she say? Oh! God! New people were not her favorite things to get aquainted with. They didn't do anything to acknowledge her except for stare at her big eyebrow. This girl looked different somehow, though. Jackie couldn't quite place it. Something told her that she was going to get along with her. Still, there was her unibrow to think about. She will laugh at it, I know it. Everyone always does she thought to herself, and then took a deep breath, and quietly said: "Hi, I'm Jackie", not knowing what was going to happen next.

In an attempt to hide her eyebrow, Jackie pulled her hat down farther as she sat down by Addie. Keeping her head down, she asked: "So, is this your first year here? It's my 3rd."

"Well, most of them are okay. My least favorite is Mr. Papercut. He's mean, easpecially to me." Jackie replied, looking up a little at Addie. "You'll like the headmistriss. She's fun."

Jackie looked in the direction that Addie was pointing. That was Mr. Papercut, alright. He had the same look on his face as he always did - mean. Turning to face Addie for the first time she said: "Yep, that's him. He is the one that is set on destroying and interrogating everything that doesn't agree with him. He's sent me to Mrs. Moor's office tons of times. She lets it go, though. I don't think she really cares much for what he thinks." Jackie scratched her forehead, and to her horror, her hat fell off, revealing the unibrow that lay underneath. "Shoot!" She yelled and got up. "I have to go. Laugh all you want. I'll just...go." She said to Addie.

"Just look!" Jackie yelled, pointing to her unibrow. How could Addie not see it? Why wasn't she laughing at it? Everyone else did. Maybe she was different then everyone else here. Maybe she was a friend.
