Getting lost. OPEN!

You know, Kalix, you should really head back to the lounge and get your bearings before you get yourself lost again. He thought to himself as he meandered the hallways of the school, trying to find his dorm. His satchel bounced on his theigh in rythme with his step.

Footsteps echoed through the hallway as Kalix tred his way along with his eyes on his feet. Suddenly, he jolted to a halt and his eyes widened up at the colors beyond the white and black of his shoes. His eyes raised slowly, wide with a horrified face. His terrified scream was stiffled in a throat that wouldn't open, choaking himself with a fit of coughs and gags. Thoughts of being lost in this gaudy pink dungeon swam through his head and he fell backwards in disbelief, only to realize the way out was just behind him.

Clawing at the floor, scrambling to his feet, he ran. He flat-out sprinted down the hallway from which he came, ne'er looking back to the horror that was sure to haunt his dreams through a fortnight. Unfortunately, he wasn't looking infront of him as he dashed off....

Crowley wandered through the grounds of Starlight, getting used to everything, her little pointed tail bobbing along behind her. She had no idea where she was and Braille wasn’t exactly something common around this school. Crowley figured that all the blind kids probably had some power to help them see. So then in reality, they really weren’t blind. Stupid jerks only pretending to be blind… Crowley hated that, especially for someone like her who really was blind. It really made things more difficult for her.

She walked along the hallway of some building she’d found herself in, her hand sweeping across the wall, guiding her as she moved along. Though, before she knew it, she was flat on her back as someone crashed into her. Crowley let out a small groan as she rolled over to one side. Clearly, this wasn’t the first time some idiot had run into her. Did anyone in this stupid school look to see where they were going? Or did everyone just run around with their eyes closed trying to see how long they could run without running into some blind kid! Crowley sat up, grumbling, and wiped off her butt.

Upon the last second chance at evading some on-coming bystander, Kalix tripped himself, crashed into him or her, and went flying through the air. He landed with a sideways tumble and crashed again into the wall. A wall ornament over his head fell and landed on him with a thump. The object didn't break, but his head felt like it did.

He rolled onto his back with a groan, putting his arms out with a wince to help him get back to his feet. He yelled angerly to whatever it was that ran into him, but his face was to the ceiling, "Can't you see when a man is running for his life!? Move next time! I could have died!"

He sat up, panting with his head hunched over in his lap. Who in their right mind would paint a school pink and gold? Seriously, it's enough to give people with a sense of taste a heartattack! His eyes calmed down a bit as he attempted to collect his thoughts and make a desperate attempt at forgetting the scene. He thought that helping out the person he ran into would clear some of it out.

Standing, he walked over to what he thought was a girl and held out a hand. "You alright?" He was still shaking a bit and couldn't seem to even his breathing.

"Can't you see when a man is running for his life!? Move next time! I could have died!"

Crowley’s brows furrowed and grunted. She sat down on her butt again, crossing her arms trying to figure out a way not to completely tear this kid’s face off for running into her. “No, I can’t.” She sighed, tried to move her head where she believed his voice was coming from. She pointed to her cloth that covered her eyes, rubbed her forehead, and sighed. She rose to her feet after bending over, placing her fingers on the ground, and pushing herself up. It was a rather awkward position, but it was the way she’d gotten herself up from falling for years. It wasn’t like she could see how ridiculous she looked. “What’s your problem anyways? Why are you running for your life?” She didn’t sense any danger, or feel like she was in any peril.

"You alright?"

Crowley shook her head up and down, muttering a yes. “I’m fine. When you get knocked down at least twice a day, you form a real intimate relationship with the ground. Hey, can’t go any lower than that, right?” Crowley smirked and placed a hand on her hip in a matter-of-factly manner. She fumbled with a loose thread on one of her many scarves, facing in the direction of the voice. Though her head wandered, unsure of where she was supposed to look. Not like it really mattered anyways…

“No, I can’t.”

Kalix visibly frowned until he realized what she was talking about. Indeed, a cloth was wrapped around her head and covered her eyes. "And to what silly fancy do you wear a scarf over your eyes, hm? They cold?" He chuckled to himself, though he assumed she was actually blind. His own thoughts on blind people were that they should be tired of getting treated like babies and need to be josled around like the rest of humanity.

"You're one lucky character to be blind in a place like this." His eyes darted down the hallway he was just in. "I don't know who in their right mind built that hallway, but it scares the bajunk outa me."

“I’m fine. When you get knocked down at least twice a day, you form a real intimate relationship with the ground."

He looked at the floor and nodded with a shrug. "Unless you found some stairs, but I'm sure that's a nightmare that beats mine anyday." He couldn't help but grin as he looked back up at the woman. "What's your name, anyway? I'm Kalix."

"And to what silly fancy do you wear a scarf over your eyes, hm? They cold?"

Crowley scowled, and whipped her tail in irritation. She muttered a few things under her breath, folding her arms. “Well, it is October.” Like that was a justification for covering her scars, because in the springtime she was sure to flaunt them.

"You're one lucky character to be blind in a place like this." His eyes darted down the hallway he was just in. "I don't know who in their right mind built that hallway, but it scares the bajunk outa me."

Crowley raised an eyebrow. “Why? What’s it look li-…” She paused, “wait, I probably don’t want to know.” She laughed, “sometimes it’s good to be blind. I don’t have to deal with bad color coordination.” Crowley soon forgot about the crash and was much more interested to whom it was she was talking to.

"Unless you found some stairs, but I'm sure that's a nightmare that beats mine anyday."

A big grin spread across Crowley’s face. "Har, har, har." She spouted. Great, blind humor. She let out a few airy laughs and shrugged. “Yeah, I guess you’re right. Didn’t know we had a comedian in the house.” She scratched the back of her head, combing some of her hair with her fingers, though they were soon returned to fumbling with the loose threads of her scarves. “What is this place?”

"What's your name, anyway? I'm Kalix."

Crowley jutted out a hand in front of her and smiled. “My pleasure. Ava Crowley. Though, it's just Crowley.” She was tempted to reach out and touch Kalix’s face, but she wasn’t sure if he’d be comfortable with that quite yet. Despite his sense of humor, most people were weirded out when she ran her fingers along their faces. Who knows, maybe Kalix was a different breed of kid.

“What is this place?”

He winced at the same question he was going to ask... a blind woman. Good job, Kalix, he thought. "Well, I was hoping you could tell me. I mean, crap. I'm the one with eyes and here I'm the one that lost his way twice already." When she stuck out his hand, he had to do his best not to laugh as he shook it. "Though, I do have a question I'm sure you can answer. Has any stuck their hand out to meet you, expecting you to find it? He laughed at his own jest. "Crowley, huh? Why not Ava? Your first name seems less common than your last."

As he dropped the handshake, he put his hand on the back of her shoulder, physically telling her he was walking in the direction they had come from. "All I know is that we're on the second floor. I'm sure I could find my way back to the Lounge, but I'd prefer to step outside. You're welcome to join me."

"Well, I was hoping you could tell me. I mean, crap. I'm the one with eyes and here I'm the one that lost his way twice already."

Crowley grinned, and shrugged. “Well at least you know where all the walls are doors are.”

"Though, I do have a question I'm sure you can answer. Has any stuck their hand out to meet you, expecting you to find it?”

Blushing slightly, Crowley shook his hand and thought about the best way to answer his question. “Not exactly. Most of them place a ‘comforting hand’ on my back and lead me to the wall.” It was great fun, really, being blind. It was like blindness and retardation went hand in hand. “I hate it. Yeah the directional ‘to your left’ is helpful, but I don’t need all the walker crap.” She crossed her arms bitterly as she finished shaking Kalix’s hand.

"Crowley, huh? Why not Ava? Your first name seems less common than your last."

Crowley frowned, shaking her head. “Ava was a young child who could see. I’m not.” She directed her head towards the floor in thought. A grim smirk formed on her face as she shook her head, trying to rid the memories looming in her head. The last thing she ever saw… her father’s glowing, demonic face of fury.

She felt his hand on her shoulder and she flinched, him taking her out of her memories. She looked up at him, despite the fact that she saw nothing. She accepted his invitation, ready to follow him. Her tail whipped idly, causing Crowley to grin. “I’m sure you know the way better than I.”

“Well at least you know where all the walls are doors are.”

He couldn't help his next grin, laughter hidden in his words. "I'm sure you know where they are, too, just not as readily." He slapped his forhead with his palm to imitate the noise of thumping ones head.

“Ava was a young child who could see. I’m not.”

Kalix shrugged again, thinking to himself on what to say next. He had a smartass comment lined up, but instead of saying anything, he just walked with her. He decided to continue calling her Ava, even if that's not what she went by. He took her hand off her shoulder and glanced at her tail. "So... where'd the tail come from? I've always wanted one to help my balance..." He quickly muttered something under his breathe about the hallway insident that just occured, "... but I just couldn't bring myself to stitching one on. Sounds painful."

After hearing the smack, Crowley scrunched up her face, and stuck out her tongue at Kalix. Picking on a blind kid was a bad pastime that he needed to remedy. Perhaps picking on the slow kids would better his fancy. Crowley chuckled to herself, though to Kalix, for no obvious reason besides his previous mockery.

"So... where'd the tail come from? I've always wanted one to help my balance..."

Crowley frowned, “my father’s a demon.” She said, shuddering. She’d only seen him twice in her lifetime. With each visit, he stole something from her. Crowley bit her lip and tried not to think of what kind of connotation her father brought to her mind. She wasn’t really listening to Kalix anymore, but more so involved with her own thoughts. Would she be willing to share her past with someone like Kalix? It wasn’t any of his business, she concluded. Crowley scowled, looking in Kalix’s direction.“Do you know the way out of here?”
