Hikaru frowned. Hmm. That was supposed to be the anticlimax. The catharsis. The tension reliever and the point where she laughed. He'd met her before, hadn't he? In the community center? What was her name again...?

Hikaru felt the tug of a small hand on his shirt and heard the tinny voice of Sushi. Yeah. This was a problem. Maybe he'd gone too far? But he'd just said a few words and done a few tricks. All harmless, right? He turned on the lights then slowly and deliberately approached the girl still cowering in the corner. He didn't wanna shock her with any sudden movements. "Hey, it's...it's okay. You're safe. No one's gonna hurt you."

He gently crouched a small distance away from her, facing her head on as he balanced lightly on his toes. "I've got you. You're alright." He soothed, calling on his otome game experience. It was pretty weird, actually. This scene was playing out pretty similar to one of the date events he'd with another of the love interests. Not his character, no, but still. The resemblance was uncanny.

Katie

Katie just stayed where she was as the lights came up. She couldn't tell if this was just another trick or if it was actually safe.

Katie could hear someone approach her, and she tensed up, only for a reassuring voice to tell her everything was okay. Slowly opening her eyes, she recognized someone she'd seen in the community center a few times. His name escaped her at the moment, but most importantly, she was fairly certain he was no ghost.

In fact, looking around, it didn't look like there was a ghost anywhere. Still, Katie wasn't about to just take the word of the others in the dorm that there wasn't a ghost. She'd heard it, she knew she had. "But.. but.. Wh.. what about the ghost?" She asked, worry and fear in her voice. "I...if you're here, then yo.. you heard it too, right?"

Hikaru paused, then decided to be honest. At least, maybe a little honest? "The ghost was me. I'm the ghost." He left it like that, knowing it could be misleading but... He wasn't gonna admit that it was just a prank, bro. After all she seemed pretty badly scared by it all. Maybe she had trauma - he should've thoughta that. Crap. Right. People round here had all kinds of pasts and ya couldn't even imagine what someone coulda been through that brought em here.

"Guess I should say sorry. Wasn't cool of me. Was just trying ta make friends..." Which was true.

Very abruptly, the scuba diver just appeared in the hall right next to Hikaru. His helmet was pointed right at Katie and despite the fact that nobody could see it, his expression made it clear he was worried. He was glad that Hikaru had begun apologizing, but felt he should do the same.

"I'm sorry too. Like Hikaru was, I wanted to just make friends like him too."

Katie

"Seeeee!!" Katie yelled in shock and fear as Sushi appeared out of thin air. Sure, the guy in front of her may not be an actually ghost, but surely this new person was, right?

Except, the new person didn't look mean, or scary, or anything like a ghost. In fact, they just looked worried, and both they and Hikaru seemed to be apologizing and saying that they were the ghost all along. But that didn't make sense to Katie. they definitely didn't look like, or act like ghosts.

"But but.. What about the lights, the different voices?!" Katie asked, not believing that it had just been the two in front of her the entire time.

Hikaru scratched his cheek. Okay. This was getting awkward real fast. Like, even more awkward than the whole apology thing. This was so cringe worthy and he could feel the slap coming on: the kinda scene where the girl realises she's being pranked and storms off after giving the dude a whopper, then being mad at him for the rest of the week. Yikes.

"That, uh, that was also me." He flicked his finger in a circle and drew a smiley face in the air. "See?" He said, acting all cutesy and putting on the little kid voice. "I am a master of voices! Bwahahahahahaha!" He boomed as the smile wrapped around his shoulders as it turned into a dark cape, then poofed out of existence with a cartoon cloud. He shrank back to his normal self once more as he returned to using his regular voice.

"So I'm, uh, sorry. I just wanted to make friends." He bowed his head and gently pushed Sushi's down too so that they'd both be bowing.

Katie

Katie blinked a few times, everything starting to finally make sense. "So.. there's really not a ghost." Katie said, more as confirmation to herself then anything else.

And if there wasn't a ghost, then there really wasn't anything she had to be afraid, right? And since she didn't need to be scared anymore she could finally start to relax. Taking in several deep breaths, Katie sighed with relief. It was fine, everything was fine. There wasn't a ghost.

"It.. it was a really good prank." Katie said, still keeping her voice quiet. Hopefully the two in front of her didn't feel too bad for scaring her.

Hikaru nodded slightly, inclining his head further before looking up at her. She was still catching her breath; the sight made him wince. "Yeah...we're sorry. Again."

Eventually she seemed calm enough, but she definitely seemed calmer. And almost...a tiny bit happy? Just from the way she held her herself. Maybe he was just seeing things. "Thanks." He muttered, finally raising their heads and giving Sushi a small headpat. He even smiled and felt his cheeks go warm. "Was it, uh...was it fun? After the whole being scared bit. Which I'm still really sorry for." He let an anime sweatdrop slide from his forehead, wiping it away and letting it fade from existence.

When his head was pushed, Sushi looked to the side a little and noticed that Hikaru was bowing his head and urging him to do the same. He didn’t really get how doing that was going to help this girl feel better, but he trusted Hikaru’s methods and followed suit.

When Katie calmed down and understood the situation, Sushi also sighed with relief, happy that this had finally gone the way Hikaru told him it would. He should never have doubted him.

When Hikaru mentioned he was sorry still, Sushi simply nodded along.

Katie

Katie just stared at the two in front of her. "Fun? I.. I don't.. It wasn't.." Katie shook her head, clearly confused by what he meant. Had it been fun? She'd been really scared, and that wasn't fun. But at least there wasn't a ghost, that was good. Honestly, she was more relieved than anything.

"It was definitely scary." Katie said. That'd been the point of this right? To scare people. And these two had done a pretty good job of scaring Katie. Even if she wasn't exactly the hardest person to scare.

"Umm, what are your names? I'm Katie." Katie said, hoping she could at least get their names.
