Katie

Katie waited at the cafe, occasionally taking a sip of her tea, and looking around to see if Sazz had arrived yet. Their meeting in the Community Center had been awkward to say the least. Especially since Katie was still having a hard time coming to terms with what was happening with Vespa, and without any idea on how to fix it.

Amber had suggested purging Vespa's demonic side, and If anyone would know how to go about doing that, it was Sazz. After all, he was the head of the Mage's Association and Katie was pretty sure she had heard him say something about purging his own demonic side.

Of course, to figure out how to purge Vespa's demon side, Katie had to talk to Sazz. So she continued to wait, wondering where he was.

Katie hopefully wasn't waiting too long for Sazz to arrive at their appointed meeting spot. He dropped in to check on a few articles for the school paper before zipping off to the cafe. He was undeniably interested in whatever it was Katie needed help with as it was undeniably magic related. Considering his overall knowledge on the subject and position as leader of the school's magic club, he was arguably one of the better choices among the student body for this sort of thing.

He entered the cafe and slid into the seat across from Katie. He set his bag down on the floor beside him, Gremmy floated and sat on the tabe, ready to pull up references if needed. Finally he ordered himself his usual tiramisu coffee drink with four brownies. It wasn't really much of a secret, but Sazz had an undeniable sweet tooth.

"So.... what's this thing you wanted to talk about?" he asked getting right to it.

Katie

Katie lit up the moment she saw Sazz enter. "Sazz! Hey, thanks for coming." Katie said, eyeing the brownies that he had, and mentally kicking herself for not ordering any.

She was a little surprised at how quickly Sazz seemed to want to get into things, but maybe that was for the best. "It.. It's about my girlfriend. Vespa." She said a bit hesitantly, before looking around the cafe, just to be safe.

"She's.. umm.. Well.. Shesgoingtodiesoon." Katie blurted out after squeezing her eyes closed. "She's a half demon half reaper.. So she should be immortal.. but.. Amber said it could be because of her demonic side." She took a deep breath, feeling more then a little relieved to just get it out there. "She also suggested maybe trying to take it out? But.. I don't know where to start."

Sazz was already in deduction mode as Katie started. It was about her girlfriend. That could mean any number of things, which were probably some level of serious. He thought about Wednesday as he considered the list of troubles. He popped a brownie into his mouth as she finally spit out the general gist of her troubles.

Vespa was going to die soon. Soon was a lot better than at random, or at least that's how he saw it. Did the school know about this? And if so, why wouldn't they do anything about it. As far as he figured they would more or less know the overall condition of students attending. He sighed and thought for a moment.

"Ah... that seems to be going around a lot. purging a part of a person's being isn't exactly.... easy. However, it's also not impossible either. I did something similar a while back but I think that could only work for me," he mused. At this point Sazz figured Katie was here because she remembered him mentioning this.

Katie nodded as Sazz spoke. She knew she had picked the right person when it came to the topic. And it was reassuring to hear that it could be done. But, If purging someone's demon side was side was easy they wouldn't be here.

"But.. There's still a way purge it, right? Even if we don't do it in the same way that you did it, there's a way right? Katie asked, almost desperately. No matter what it took, Katie was going to see this to the end.

"Well yeah, it's really about finding the right method to do so," he looked thoughtful for a moment as he popped a brownie into his mouth. It still bothered him that this was an issue, and that a student was taking it upon themselves to look into this problem.

"So I'm assuming since you're here, the school doesn't know? I feel like a condition like this would be uh... known at least among the faculty," he frowned. "At the very least her dorm parent...assuming she has one, and like people in administrations and nursing offices."

Katie

Katie just shifted in her seat. "They.. they know. But.. But..." She trailed off and took a deep breath. She wasn't going to cry in front Sazz, she wasn't. "They... theycantdoanything!" She blurted out squeezing her eyes shut.

"I just.. It feels like they don't want to help, even if they could. And I don't understand why." It almost felt wrong to say out loud. The school should care about it's students, but it almost felt like they didn't care if Vespa died or not.

She'd pull out a well used notebook, and would set it on the table. "I.. umm.. I have some notes if you think they could help find out which ritual might work."

"And then they get mad when people go off doing dangerous magic rituals to fix their shit..." Sazz grumbled. He had half a mind to write an editorial that was critical of that fact, but what would that accomplish? He was fairly certain some people cared if they went below administration levels of staffing.

"Notes always help, gimme notes, I like notes," he grinned and held his hand out. "I will say though if she's part reaper this should in theory be a relatively simple matter. It's only natural for a being of death to steer close to it. Being able to cross over and back in some way is no problem for most of them. Death is also a transformative aspect, in some ways similar to my own chaos magic. It might take a trial, but actually dying may help break the shackles of her demonic side..."

Katie nodded and slid the book over to Sazz. It had a few crude drawings throughout, but largely consisted of notes relating to different kinds of demons, with several pages dedicated to the Hellions, of which Vespa was a descendent. There were also several pages dedicated to reapers and death related beings, before finally coming to her research into rituals. There were also a few pages that were squibbed out.

"I thought about going to a deal making demon.. But I heard that's normally a really bad idea. So I took it out." She explained, hoping that Sazz understood.

She'd blink as Sazz spoke about possibly killing Vespa. Sure, Vespa might be half reaper, but the whole point of this was to save Vespa from dying. Not kill her! "Is.. are you sure.. That.. that will work?" Katie asked, fear starting to creep into her voice. "I.. I don't want to lose her.."

"Yeah no, don't even bother with one of those guys. Some of 'em aren't bad and generally do good work, but you've got enough people that you can do this with a magic ritual easy," he said in response to seeking out a deal making demon. "That said, as far as I know you're not particularly connected to any high ranking demons. If you want to deal with demons, having friends in high? Low? You want to be on friendly terms with high ranking devils."

He was going over the notes ,rituals, all the things Katie had compiled. He was honestly impressed, the girl was pretty damn thorough. "You kinda have a knack for this..." he commented at one point.

"And no, I am not sure that would work at all. It's a very well educated theory based on what I know about reapers. I know this is risky business and you're trying to save her. Like I understand that more than you realize, but there's always going to be a risk with any spell you cast," he explained. That probably wasn't what she wanted to hear, but it was the truth. He wasn't going to hold back anything. "I would recommend talking to a more... deathly sort and see what they thing. The leader of the Hereafter Club is some sort of soul reaping fae. Gravetenders I think they're called? Anyway, he may be able to help you. He's a real friendly sort, albeit a bit awkward."
