Gathering Mushrooms

"Thanks," Azucena said as she flashed Azure a grateful look. It was nice to hear his words of encouragement.

"I have tried all types of magic... water, fire, earth... and nothing. I think I will just need to be special in other ways," she told him with a smile as she tried to make light of this.

"So, do you have any family here on the island?" Azucena asked Azure, deliberately changing subjects as she didn't want to harp too much on her lack of magical abilities.

“I do.” Azucena said with a tiny nod, smiling at his observation about her. “Desna and Juniper adopted four of us, so I have a younger brother and two sisters,” she told Azure.

“My oldest sister, Rani, I mean Aranea, is a scout and Tanzi, my other sister, she works at the radio station,” Azu explained as she happily told Azure about her sisters and her brother Clement, the youngest who was mentally challenged.

“What about you?” she asked curiously. She knew that the Home Ec teacher had adopted a couple of children when she came to the island, but Azucena didn't know much more than that.

"That's really nice. Miss Forestier seems like a great person," Azucena said as she thought about Azure's family. She did know who Shale was, but she wasn't really too sure who Ebviony was.

"Maybe we can hang out sometime?" Azucena offered as she got to her feet. "I need to get home soon," she explained, realising that it was getting late and she still had some homework to do.
