Work had really been slow. It was good that Hah'en now had a plan, showcasing her abilities in the arena was sure to draw some attention to her. She didn't want it to become her frequent source of income, though. Hah'en very much didn't like putting herself under the spotlight at such a public setting, she wanted to keep the depth and details of her abilities to herself. Hah'en had never liked when people knew too much about her, it was too risky.

And this private security work paid well enough. All Hah'en needed was proof of her abilities, and then she'd surely get hired more. At the moment she was low on funds, but Hah'en was confident that it wouldn't be so in the future. She was in a whole new environment, in a whole new occupation, but she was determined to make it all work. No, she would make it work. No matter what.

Hah'en stood in a corner shrouded in shadows, blocked from view by two bookshelves. She had blanketed herself in a thin veil of her own mist, thin enough to be barely visible, and she had did the same around the whole entrance area to the library and the surrounding areas. This way Hah'en could hide her scent, sounds, presence and partly visibility, and she could keep tabs on if anyone moved within the area. She was in a manor of a wealthy man, who had heard rumours that a thief was planning on raiding his residence for the artifact that Hah'en was now guarding. Hah'en didn't know about the credibility of these rumours, but it wasn't her job to suspect their credibility. It was her job to guard the artifact, whether her employer was just paranoid or not.
All Hah'en had to do now was wait tonight and next few nights from now on, and then her contract would be over and she'd be paid. And that was just fine with her.

Jobs were just that. Jobs. He took them very seriously. Sometimes, however, he enjoyed going out on his own and acquiring items that he could then resell. Especially if the item was in possession of someone who had not hired him to get it. Adryan liked to think of it as teaching a lesson.

That was what this night was about. Not being a job, Adryan didn't stake the place out. If things got hairy he should just leave. He also didn't see anything wrong in stealing an item that had been stolen. Granted he didn't see anything wrong in stealing anything.

"I don't like this. Something didn't feel right," Nux relayed to his vessel. The pair stood just outside the manor wall as Adryan listened intently for anything.

"If something goes south we will leave."

His voice was whispered, almost imperceptible under his breath. Eventually Adryan stepped forward phasing through the wall and into a room next to the library. Moving to the wall the seperated them, Adryan stepped into it. When he was coming out the other side there was some resistance that made it harder to get through.

He stopped with just his head sticking through, and looked around. Sure enough the artifact was there, but there was something else. An almost imperceptible mist spread through the room, almost like a fog. Luckily his trained thieves eyes were used to spotting any irregularity in a room and this was definitely one.

"This is different..."

Someone was here.
Hah'en snapped to attention when she felt movement within her mist, and her head spun to look towards where the movement had happened. By a wall on the Western side of the library. Hah'en had a visual of the target from where she was and she saw...a head?
Hah'en frowned slightly, and completely silently moved closer, staying in the shadows of the bookshelves. The intruder probably had a phasing ability of some kind. They hadn't moved completely into the room, they'd probably seen the mist Hah'en had conjured. Good, if the thief knew what was best for him he would get scared off by the irregularity.

Hah'en momentarily considered summoning her scythe and severing the man's head. But she wasn't an assassin anymore and Hah'en wanted to avoid killing as much as possible. Besides, this thief was neither a hit nor trying to steal from Hah'en, and she was done killing people just for money.
So, Hah'en looked on in the shadows, waiting to see what the thief would decide to do.

Glancing around, he didn't see a source of the mist. No machine. No window open. Nothing. He thought he saw some movement in a shadow, but dismissed it as the mist shifting around. Adryan narrowed his eyes and started to pull his head back, taking note it was harder and slower than normal.

"You got an idea?"

"you're in my head, you know I do," Adryan thought to Nux. He needed to know more about this mist before he moved through it to his target. Slipping over to the door he laid a hand on it. After a few seconds the lock gave way. He opened the door and moved down the hallway to a different wall.

Slipping just his head through again, he watched what happened with the mist, hoping with the door opened the mist would slip out of the room.

The head moved back after a while, but Hah'en didn't relax. Instead she soundlessly climbed one of the bookshelves, not stirring or knocking over a single book, and perched herself on top of it. She was light enough that the shelf didn't quake or move an inch. Hah'en made sure that she was still in the shadows and partially covered by a column and a chandalier, and she waited.

The door opened and Hah'en's hunch was proven right. The thief was still here. Soon after the door opened the head popped out of the wall again. Ah, Hah'en saw what he was doing, he wanted to see how her mist would act. Hah'en smiled a little under the dark grey mask she was wearing, that covered everything on her face but her eyes. So the little thief was cautious, that was smart of him.
Hah'en, to make the thief feel at ease, slowly made her mist waft out of the open door, like a regular mist would do. Though the moment it disappeared into the hallway out of the thief's sight Hah'en made is dissipate, and she still kept some of her mist floating around in parts of the library that the thief couldn't see. Would the thief be brave enough to enter the room now?

"Looks clear." Nux remarked as the mist reacted as expected and slowly dissipated from the room. There was just something off though. Something that didn't sit just right with Adryan. He waited a moment longer while looking around the room.

"But what was a random mist doing just hanging out in here?" Adryan thought back to Nux. He couldn't place his finger on it but he felt uneasy all of a sudden. Almost as if he was being watched, but all good thieves felt that way, kept them on their toes.

Deciding to go ahead, Adryan phased the rest of the way through the wall. It was decidedly easier to get through this time, which made him all the more cautious. The only thing that changed was the mist in the room.

Hazel green eyes peered upon the prize as he circled it, looking for any other devices or alarms.

The predator in Hah'en was all but purring, as she watched her alleged "prey" act as she predicted. Still cautiously, of course, he wasn't stupid. But now Hah'en faced a little dilemma. Should she play with her prey a little, enjoy the fun of the chase and bring some enjoyment to this thus far dull night, or should she just do her job? Hah'en rarely enjoyed combat, she was a sneaker by nature. She hunted in the shadows and enjoyed the lurking more than the actual takedown.
But Hah'en reminded herself that even though she was a dragon she was civilized (and poor) and would not risk a possible paycheck for a moment's fun.

But Hah'en indulged a little bit by letting the thief get in semi-close proximity of the artifact before she, within a fraction of a second, entirely covered the thief and the area around him in her thickest mist, so the thief could barely be able to see his own legs. Hah'en, without missing a beat, dove into the mist herself and knew exactly where to aim. She aimed a swift but hard kick to the thief's abdomen, and if he went down Hah'en would press him down with a foot on his chest and summon her scythe, keeping it against his jugular lightly. Once she was certain she had him pinned, Hah'en would make the mist dissipate.
"It's in your best interest not to do that."
Hah'en said with a low voice, that sounded like it could be either female or male voice. Hah'en liked to make sure her victims didn't know what or who she was, so she had learned to modify her demeanour, stance, voice and words to fool them. Currently Hah'en tried to be as ambiguous as possible, her voice and body movements monotone and simple.

"Move," Nux exclaimed to Adryan. With Zero hesitation, he began to try to back peddle. Unfortunately, Nux had never granted him enhanced speed or reactions. The kick landed squarely on his abdomen and sent a wave of pain over his body, making him almost want to puke.

Acting on instinct, the thief went invisible as he staggered backwards from the blow. Luckily for him, the warning from Nux was enough to soften the blow to not send him sprawling to the floor. No sound came from his wheezed attempts to catch his breath while he was invisible.

Hazel green eyes immediately found his attacker and the weapon she was brandishing. Quickly turning back visible he threw his hands up in front of him.

"Whoa whoa. It's not what it looks like. Im just admiring the art. I'm a collector myself and couldn't pass up the opportunity to see a Tang Dynasty statuette myself."

It wasn't a lie. Just not the whole truth, and with his ability he figured it would be more than enough to be believable.

Hah'en clicked her tongue, when the thief didn't go down, but her mist was still floating around and she had her weapon in hand. Hah'en had the upper hand, and she was between the thief and the artifact.
The thief turned invisible (such petty tricks), but it didn't work on Hah'en. Although she couldn't see or smell him she could feel him move inside her mist. He couldn't hide from her.

And turns out that he didn't bother, since he quickly turned back visible. The thief turned back visible, and spoke. And his words were...Hah'en frowned slightly. She could feel herself be...conflicted. Like she wanted to believe him, but also didn't, and her mind was fighting against it.
Oh, so that was what was going on...
"Your abilities are befitting of a thief."
Hah'en said, guessing that the man had the ability to make people believe him in some way, and Hah'en's mist was weakening said ability. And before the thief could say anything more Hah'en made her mist yet again cloak her and the surroundings. As the mist obscured the man's vision Hah'en soundlessly and quickly circled to his side, made her weapon disappear and kicked him to the back of his knees. If Hah'en succeeded in making the man falter she'd restrict his hands behind his back with one hand and grab the back of his neck into her other hand, forcing him to kneel and look down.

"Wait wait no no..."

"Oh they're good..." Nux chuckled. "This is gonna hurt."

Adryan knew he was beat for the moment. He just needed to bide his time and wait for an opening to make his escape. With the mist clouding his vision and the attacker not making a sound, he assumed it was an ability they had.

He made no attempt to counter the next barrage as it happened. The blow to his knee forced him to drop to it, and as quick as he could grimace, his hands were restrained behind his back. His neck was held, with his vision being forced down to the floor.
"All these years of this and you're giving up now?" "Shut it," the two chided each other back and forth.

"I'll give you breaking and entering. But I have yet to steal anything. I am a collector. I was admiring, and I couldn't pass up the chance to see it. I have yet to lie to you and I am not resisting."

Adryan left out his key phrase to activate his ability, as they could obviously tell he was using something. He wanted it to be as truthful as possible as he spoke.
