"Veronica this Chloe, a friend of mind," he took a drink of his water his blush fading, "Chloe this is Veronica, she just arrived and I'm showing her around, helping her get used to the supernatural."

"Chloe did that for me a bit, helped explain some of the supernatural stuff for me so I wouldnt look like a complete idiot," he chuckled, it was true though, those first few weeks he'd been afraid of offending everyone around him.

Chloe's grin widened. They were blushing so hard. She managed not to laugh at them, at least, but the amusement on her face was clear.

"Eh, I didn't have to help him too much. He was already on board with stuff like, 'demons aren't automatically evil' and that sort of thing." That was a very deliberate choice of example. "I think he might have even been worried about pointing out that werewolves look kinda like dogs. He thought it might be rude." She chuckled a little.

"Anyway, it's nice to meet you, Veronica. You settling in okay?" The girl came off as terminally shy. She might have even been intimidated by Chloe. "There's a lot of stuff to get used to, if you've spent most of your life only around humans."

Veronica felt like Chloe was enjoying this a tad too much for her comfort. Well, of course. It was never fun to be made fun of, but this girl was really pushing it with that grin of hers. But she supposed that it wasn't so bad. Now she replaced her rather uncomfortable, confusing, and embarrassing feeling with just anger. That was much easier for her to manage. She wasn't really that mad even, just mildly annoyed. But it was enough to distract the teen from other things she didn't really want to think about.

Veronica felt a chill run through her spine. "De-de-de-demmmmooonnn?" She'd hear about those things, but definitely NOT from fairy tales. Weren't they, like, the most evil beings in existence? Followers of the Evil One? Did they honestly exist here? Veronica tried to remain calm, honestly she did. The last thing she wanted to do was offend anyone. But this, this was something she couldn't just hear and rally from.

The whole werewolf thing went right over her head, but there was no way that could compare to this. "I'm sorry, Demons are students here?" Veronica was now praying her nerves would calm down just enough for her to shut herself up. But her initial shock caused her to just spew out incoherent babbling. Well, she'd rather look like an idiot than a jerk. Or worse, a jerk who's an idiot.

When Chloe asked how she was settling in, Veronica had to stare. How could anyone "settle in" in a place like this? The teen glared down at her knees for a moment, inwardly yelling at herself for acting so harshly. But, honestly, she couldn't help it! There was only so much of this bizarre place she could take at once, and this was insane. But what did she manage to say after she relaxed her facial features? "Mmmm.... It's a'ight, I guess..." Not even close...

Aedan gave a kind smile at Veronica, "hey...it's ok. Lots of different beings here. I know your shocked, but you'll get used to it." He smiled even bigger as her accent seemed to come up, he really did find it cute
He took a sip of his water finally calmed down from Chloe's teasing.

"We were just discussing the unique classes here, Dragon Biology, Vampire Bloodlines with Mr. Thurstan. So many cool things, the Fencing Club is even taught by a dragon," he took a bite of his salad.

"There's also a lot to see in the city Veronica, I love wandering through the market place," he sipped his water, "if you want we could go down there after we eat at Russos."

"Why... yes, Veronica," Chloe said with a calm, professional smile. "There are demons at this school, like me. We're not any more evil as a group than any other species, honestly. We just have an unfairly bad reputation. I'm actually in charge of the Demonic Student Union here; you should check out our bake sales. A lot of our profit goes to charity."

Bits of that statement had been rehearsed in front of a mirror before she'd ever met either of these kids. It had been a pleasant surprise, so far, that she had to explain this so rarely.

In any case, she was able to get her head out of designated-demonic-ambassador-mode long enough to realize that Veronica was quietly freaking out. She made a sort of cut-it-out motion by her neck when Aedan mentioned taking her down to the market place. The poor girl could barely handle the cafeteria! The market would kill her!

"Uh, are you sure you're alright, Veronica? You seem kind of...completely terrified. Or something. Maybe you should take it slow, getting used to your new home. There's, ah, counseling here if you think you might need it. I know all of this can be really overwhelming."

Veronica let out a few disoriented chuckles before letting out a sigh and seemingly waving away the concern the two had for her. "Psh! Naw!" She said, in her native accent. "Ah, uh... it's tot'lly fine. I'm just a human, y'know? So, uh... don' worr' abou' it." Veronica let out another sigh, this time greatly reducing her nerves for the sake that attention wouldn't be brought to it.

Veronica felt herself force a rather strained smile at Aedan's suggestion, before she cleared her throat and just ignored it all together. "Right, so, just so there isn't any confusion, you are a demon." Veronica was trying to confirm this to herself than with anyone else. "And, you're not evil like I've been told. Got it." Well, maybe not. It would take a lot more than that to truly get Veronica on board the "Demons aren't evil" train, but at least she was trying.

And at the very least, Chloe didn't seem too bad. Sure, she made things slightly awkward for the fun of it, but, again, she couldn't really blame her. Veronica remembered her food and water, and began chugging her water down until she was finally calm enough to talk like a normal human being. Which took like... the whole bottle. Veronica shrugged that detail off. She'd find a place to refill it and it would be good as new.

"So Chloe," Veronica said, dropping her accent. "Are you a student here? What brought you to the cafeteria?" Uh, besides eating? Stupid?

Aedan smiled at Veronica, happy she was calming down, "sorry if I freaked you out any...one step at a time eh. We'll check out the market once you've adjusted."

He turned back to his food for a sec taking a bite of his sandwich, "it'll take time, just think of it like this, all the beings here are just like everyone else we've met, they have a choice on who they'll be." Aedan had seen the humanity could do, so it wasn't hard for him to accept the supernatural.

"If your ever having trouble Veronica just ask me or Chloe, or any of the teachers," he took a bite of his salad, when your body requires three times the amount of food the average human does, every meal became important.

Yes, Chloe was a demon. She nodded along as Veronica confirmed this, and the part about how being a demon didn't automatically make her evil.

"Yeah, I'm just starting college courses. And I'm in the cafeteria for the free food, like Aedan is."

Aedan proceeded to... volunteer Chloe to walk this girl through the whole being-new-to-the-school thing. Her eyebrows raised a little bit. "Uh, yeah. Sure. I'm basically this designated ambassador for demonkind, so. I'd be happy to help you out with that sort of thing. And Counseling services is always around to help with adjusting, too. A lot of people have had, like, crises of faith and stuff from seeing the stuff they see here. So they are pretty good about that."

Chloe had been mentioning counseling services a lot, lately. There were a lot of people here who needed it and weren't taking advantage of it, despite the school's best efforts. Plus she didn't like being the designated heavy-feelings-vent. She got enough of that from the DSU.

Veronica nodded at Aedan, now feeling like he was kind of a broken record. The girl understood that the boy was nervous, but she still nodded to try and encourage the idea that she understood. Ask someone for help if she needed anything. She thought his concern for her was sweet, but he seemed to forget that she wasn't a little girl. Perhaps the way she conducted herself didn't really help, but Chloe had to have noticed that he was kind of repeating himself, too.

The idea of going to counseling, though, caused her to calm down a bit. Yeah, she thought. Maybe counseling is what I need! It is pretty hard to contemplate half the things that are going on here, so maybe it would be for the best. And... it might not be the only thing I need counseling for. "I'll think about it." Veronica answered. And by think about it, I mean I'll probably start looking up info about it tonight.

Veronica struggled to try and come up with something else to talk about. They could just keep talking about the school, but it seemed like Chloe get enough of that on a regular basis. Besides, this was just a casual lunch. It wouldn't be relaxing if even while she's trying to have her lunch all they talk about was her work. But, like, she wasn't really the one who brought it up, right? Well, to be fair, what else would they talk about?

After all, they're all going to be at the same school together. And they barely knew each other at all. Honestly, what else would they talk about other than the school? "So, uh... What do you guys do with your free time?" Well... There's that. That's actually a good question. Obviously she already knew that Aedan played his violin sometimes, but what else did he do? And Chloe. Veronica didn't know what she did at all, which only made her particularly curious. What would a demon do in her spare time?

Aedan looked at Veronica the corner of his lip twitching, he could tell he made her uncomfortable, "listen I'm sorry if I said something wrong. I'm not good at talking to people. I tend to say one thing and mean something else." He gave her a apologetic smile, his PTSD had affected how he talked to people. "If I ever say anything stupid...just tell me."

He hated how horrible he was at talking, he genuinely liked being with people. And he was comfortable with Veronica. It was just difficult for him to converse. He had a few flashbacks in public and it freaked some people out, they wouldn't talk to him now.

"As for what I do during my free time....," in truth the list was pretty small, his lack of a social life had somewhat limited that. "Well you know about my violin," he wasn't sure if that counted as a hobby. "I like carving wooden statues, I'm pretty good at it to," he suppose that was a hobby. "I like walking through the market in town....," he shrugged, "besides that I practice my fencing and work on my cybernetics." He laughed, "most people think I'm boring."
