Laetus hopped up and stretched as well. "I dunno. Best I've ever slept though." He said with a yawn before the first part clicked. "...Oh. THAT storm... Yeah, that... How close is it? Can I still catch it?" He asked, picking up a surfboard. It was red with a yellow lightning bolt on it. Where the hell did he grab that from?

"Aren't you afraid of getting hurt?" she asked, giving a pointed look to his surfboard. "Where did you — Never mind."

She shook her head. "It's not that close yet." She was staring at the screen, frowning and nibbling her thumb nervously.

Laetus shrugged. "Not really... Nearly drowned last time though..."
Seeing her nervousness about the whole thing, he put the board down and hugged her. "Don't worry, Cherry-chan. Everything will be alright."

"You don't think it'll hit the school, do you?"

She laid her hand on his. Part of her wanted to ask if she could stay with him, but she thought better of it.

"It might..." He told her. "It shouldn't cause much damage though. It's an island school, so we're used to it..." He thought for a moment, then held her a bit tighter. "You're new here though... You could always stay here during the storm if you'd like. We're pretty high up, so it might make you feel safer..." She didn't have to ask. He wanted to make sure she felt safe... Make sure she WAS safe.

Maddie nodded, glad he had offered so she didn't have to ask (or think about asking, since she hadn't actually planned to ask).

He might feel some of the tension leave her shoulders at his offer. "I'd like that..."

Laetus smiled. "It'll be nice. We can have some hot chocolate, curl up on the couch again..." This wave didn't come often. A shame he was going to miss it, but at least she felt better. That was all that mattered... Might have avoided drowning this way anyway.

Maddie looked over her shoulder with a sad smile.

"Y-You don't have to...stay here if you don't wanna," she realized how silly that must have come out sounding because her voice faltered as she said it. Wouldn't that kind of ruin the whole point of her staying here?

"Hm?" Laetus mumbled. He would sigh and pat her head, giving her a warm smile. "Nonsense... Sure, I'd love to go surfing." He admitted. "But I'd rather be with you then anywhere else." He was outright with what he was thinking. She seemed to know when he lied or danced around something most of the time anyway. Still, his smile was genuine and his words were from the heart. He really would be happy just being here with her.
"Now, you go ahead and get comfortable, alright?" He told her, nudging her back to the couch. He would release her once he got her to sit, and lean down after, giving her a brief, soft kiss. "I'll get us that hot chocolate." He told her, a light blush on his cheeks. He would then turn and head into his kitchen.

Maddie leaned forward as he was breaking the kiss. Unlike their first kiss, she participated in this one. It wasn't confident, or great, but she was new to literally all of it.

She was blushing too, and when he left to get them their hot chocolate, she grabbed the blanket she'd had on before and tugged it over her head.
