He smiled and nodded at her request. Laetus walked over to the couch and sat down holding her, the blanket draping over them. On the other end of the couch, Zippo let out a yawn, just drifting off to sleep. The tv was still tuned to whatever cartoons Zippo was watching, and the remote was next to him.
At her comment, Laetus stuck his tongue out at her. " You told me it wasn't magic, didn't you?"

"It's not, I just expected you to keep calling it the magic box anyway."

Maddie wiggled about to get comfortable on him. She curled up and lay her head against his chest as she watched re-runs.

"Kiwi, why were you staring at the jelly earlier? Do you really like grape jelly?"

Laetus handed her the remote, and then brought his arms around her waist, squirming a bit before settling comfortably into the couch.
"Huh?... Oh. Well, I was just trying to be patient." He told her with a nervous laugh. "I... was... REALLLY hungry..." His stomach growled, as if on cue. 'Was' may not have been the right word.
The basket was right on the table in front of them, but it seemed Laetus was too comfortable here with her to do anything about it.

Upon hearing his stomach growl, Maddie grinned and tried to lean forward to grab the basket for him.

"I think you can eat even more than me."

Laetus laughed. "I am the endless void. All fear Laetus the World Eater!"
When she brought the basket to him, he took it and placed it next to them on the couch before pulling her back in to the warm comfy snuggly position. He kissed her cheek before laying claim to a waffle. Jelly was not worth moving from this position.

Maddie was fine with just snuggling into him and watching the tv.

She flipped the channel to crime investigation shows. At the moment, "fatal attraction" played.

She half closed her eyes and buried her face into him, relishing the warmth.

After swallowing the last bit of the waffle, he brought his other arm around her again, now around her upper body, holding her close. That single waffle would have to do the work of dozens, for he was not letting this moment go any time soon. His eyes closed, a big warm smile on his face. He would gently kiss the top of her head before beginning to drift off to sleep.

it would be hours later that Maddie woke up with a gasp. For a second, she didn't know where she was.

"Wha--" she turned to look at Laetus and shook his shoulder. "What time is it?"

She looked to the window. It looked dark. Had she been asleep for hours or something? That didn't make sense.

She looked at the TV, which was showing the storm warning alert and giving off a high pitched beep.

"Ung. Storm...?"

Laetus seemed dazed. It took him a while to shake off the much needed sleep and figure out what she was saying. All he caught was the last word. "Um... Storm? ..." He tilted his head, thinking for a moment. After a bit, he shrugged. "We get storms all the time." He told her, attempting to calm her. "Besides, we're like 12 floors up here..."

"It's a tsunami," Maddie said with a yawn. She stood up and stretched, looking around.

"Crap. How long do you think we were asleep?" She rubbed at her eyes.
