Wei was running.

He'd grown up in desert oasis, where water was the most important resource. If it got too hot or too cold, then the city of Turpan would issue warnings about it. They would tell the local residents to be careful of the amount of water they consumed. Really, the only people that were affected by it intensely were people like Wei's family, unable to get their hands on the precious, precious life-giving liquid.

Times like that were scary, but sometimes they had "mild" years, where the weather wouldn't quite hit freezing and the hottest it got was only like eighty degrees or so. When it was like that, they were alright.

But that being said, Wei was used to situations where there was not enough water. He couldn't say that he was very used to there being too much water. Or, even instances where the water was particularly malicious. Except if there was a poison warning.

He was running because there were too many people at the school, pushing and shoving to be put into the magical teleporters to the shelter. He'd tried to use it, but found that the area was packed full of big students who yelled and squirmed and thought they should get on next just because it would be bad if they died.

It would be bad if anyone died.

Which is why Wei was on foot. He was light and fast, and he traveled on the roofs instead of the streets and sidewalks, which were packed with people.

He kept a close eye out for anyone who needed help from this distance above the ground.

Kasai yipped at the large blue flying-bug she'd been chasing, tripping over her tail and rolling onto her belly. The little fox watched as the flying-bug drifted away. It was awfully lonely out here. All the other animals were gone. Kasai breifly wondered where they had gone but the thought didn't last long.
At least there was a lot of people still. People were fun to play with too and they always knew the best places to scratch at her ears. The little fox yapped and tried to get attention by darting out infront of them only to be kicked aside in the rush of feet. A little girl reached back to pet him and was roughly pulled along by her mother, leaving the little creature whining and lonely at the corner. Why wouldn't anyone play? She could go home but that had been emptied out too so there was no one there.

Wei was running along when he noticed a strange scene. There seemed to be some commotion. Although Wei tried to tell himself that he couldn't risk getting trampled on by going down there, he was too curious to not go down there and check it out.

Imagine his surprise when--upon his feet meeting solid ground--he saw a small fox yapping at passersby as they kicked and ignored it, too busy trying to get to their safe zone.

There were rumors of a killer on the loose, and they didn't have time to indulge a yapping fox.

But the monkey was certain that all animals were supposed to have been evacuated already.

"Hey, what are you doing here?" He asked, leaning down to pick up the fox. "Don't you know it's dangerous to be playing around right now?"
