Danielel sped through the trees surrounding the lake, her wings flutting quickly. She laughed and twirled around the large trees. She looked around, then decided to come down to the lake and relax a little bit. SHe wanted a little time just to hang out. She lighted ont he ground gently, and caught her balance quickly. She started to walk to the sparkling water of the lake.

About halfway from where she had been and the lake she tripped on a rock which had been nestled in the grass. She fell foreward and caught herself with her hands. She took a deep breath, then took a seat. She looked around to make sure no one had seen her fall, then got back up and walked to the lake. She took off her shoes and set them down besides her, then she put her feet in the water. She splashed the water with her feet, the lay back in the grass and looked up at the bautiful clear blue sky.

At the same time, a young adult male wandered off out of the academy and towards his favorite place to be, the lake. A light breeze hit him in the face, blowing his long light brown hair on his head. On this occasion, he wore a white tank top and black jean shorts and carried a lightweight drawstring backpack. He opted to go for a little swim. In the backpack he carried his black basketball shorts he normally uses as swimming trunks. He hid behind a bush, changed into those shorts and pulled off the tank top, unveiling his athletic-like upper body and his black feathered wing tattoo on his back. He slowly approaced the shore and tested the water temperature with his toes. The water was fine, for him at least. He proceeded into the water and dipped his head in. After a few seconds he emerged with heavy drops of water crawling down his face. His hair looking like discolored seaweed, he stood there.

While he was in there he saw a girl, not much younger than him, nearby. While he looked at her briefly, he noticed her beauty. After a quick glance at the girl, he swam. On the surface of the water he stroked to advance himself around the surface, and there he stood on his own, doing what he enjoyed doing best.

Danielle looked up to see teh boy, who looked slightly older than herself. He was swimming. She suddenly felt embarassed that she herself had not brought her swimsuit. She looked down and shifted her wings uneasily. She looked up to the sky, then stood up, and propelled herself into the air. She flew around above the lake for a few mintues, before deciding she wanted to come back down. She looked to the ground, then dived. She stopped herself about 5 inches above the water.

She watched the boy for a few more moments, before floating over. She trailed her fingers behind her in the water until she reached him.
"Hi. I'm Danielle. " she said, introducing herself. She watched him and her eyes sparkled in the light.

The boy remained on the surface of the lake, flapping his arms inside the water to stay afloat. He looked over to the girl again and noticed the slight change in emotinal expressions. What could possibly be wrong? He watched the girl carefully as he now learned that the girl possessed a pair of pink wings. The boy knew that he wasn't the only one with wings in this school, but it was the first time he ever saw pink ones. That intrigued him. He could only look on as she had ascended into the air and flew above him and the lake. He took refuge as he noticed her approaching the surface of the lake quickly, but managing to stop herself just before she entered the water.

He stuck his head out of the water and there stood the girl, named Danielle, floating above the lake. The girl had introduced herself to him. He opened his mouth to respond before he noticed her eyes sparkling in the light. Wow, he thought. This boy was always one to follow his instincts; in this case his instincts were telling that this girl was interesting. He finally spoke. "Hi. My....my name is Cade."

She smiled when he replied, then she turned herself over so she was on her back and she floated about 2 inches above the water. She looked at him again and spoke.

"Nice to meet you Cade. " she said, not knowing quite what else to say. She watched a coupled birds fly overhead for a moment, then sighed. She could totally go faster than them. Part of her wanted to fly up and race a bird, but she knew she would look totally childish and decided against it.

"So, you go to the academy, right? " she asked, already knowing the answer because it wouldn't make much sense if he didn't go to the academy based on where they were, but she asked it anyways.

Although he didn't want to admit it, Cade was nervous. He became even more nervous when Danielle smiled at him. When that happened, he slowly dipped himself back into the water. He rose up again after a few seconds. His head and face all wet, Cade couldn't think of much to say. It seemed that Danielle wanted to get a conversation started. "Its..its...nice..to meet you...too..." he somehow managed to say with hesitation between each word. It was obvious that Cade attends the academy; otherwise, he wouldn't be here right now. "Yes...yes I do." he then said having focused his attention mainly on her wings. "Umm...nice wings."

"Thanks. " she said when he commented on her wings. She fluttered them slightly, then floated calmly again. She watched him go under the water and suddenly felt even more embarassed that she had not brought her own swimsuit. She looked at him for a moment, then continued.

"uhh.. Can you excuse me for a moment. " she said as she smiled, then shot off to the academy. She went straight to her room and grabbed her swimsuit.

When she returned a few minutes later, she had on her swimsuit, and she flew back to where she had been originally. She placed her foot in the water, then she lowered herself into the water aswell. Her wings folded up against her back as they were surrounded with water.

"Okay.. So... " she said, searching for something to say. She was a little unsure of herself now. She treaded water slightly to keep her head above the surface. Out of lack of anything else to do, she smiled again.

"You're welcome." Cade replied when the girl thanked him for the compliment. He dipped himself into the water again, then quickly rose up and moved some of his hair away from his face. He looked at her with his hazel eyes wondering what was so interesting about her.

Cade slowly nodded when the girl had asked to be excused for some unknonw reason. So there he stood, in the lake, alone awaiting her return. His body was now laying flat on the surface, alfoat. His instincts were bothering him again and they were saying that he should try to get to know the girl, but Cade was afraid, afraid that his instincts would be wrong.

"Do you have a power? I mean, If you go to The Academy, you have to have a power... " she said, realizing how dumb that had to have sounded. She took a deep breath, then dove under the water. She resurfaced, and watched him curiously.

"Sorry about earlier. I just had to go get my swimsuit. Flying is fun, but, well, swimming is just as fun. " she said, not knowing what else to say. She felt bad for leaving without a proper explanation.

Does he have a power, the girl asked him. Of course he does. If Cade didn't have a power, he wound't be here right now, he just wouldn't show it yet. He took refuge once again as she had now worn a swimsuit and plunged herself into the lake.

She apologized to Cade for leaving. Cade shook his head at this, for he was okay with it; he often preferred to be alone....but perhaps not in this case. "It's alright, really, and swimming is fun. I don't think there's anyone here who enjoys swimming more than I do."

As for his powers, he wanted to show her that he too can fly, and hopefully impress her. "Power? Why, yes I do have one. I think it would be better for me to just show you." And that he did. He dipped himself into the water then gathered himself and pushed himself upward. He was now above the surface of the lake with long black, feathered wings. "You're not the only one with wings around here." He began to glide around the lake with the tip of each wing gently caressing the surface. He stopped a few feet away from the girl and the wings faded away, allowing himself to drop back into the lake. He returned to the surface and looked at the girl to see what kind of reaction he would recieve.
