Broen sat for a long time, chewing on his lip until he'd torn the skin and was bleeding a bit. He sucked on the wound, not letting Valli see the blood and using the harsh metallic taste to anchor himself in the moment. He had a lot that he wanted to stay still, but there was still a lot that he couldn't bring himself to admit.
Glancing at his shoes and then at Valli and then the wall behind Valli, Broen let his eyes lazily wander until he came to a conclusion. The things that Valli said made a certain kind of sense. He nodded slowly, leaning forward in his seat.
"Okay."
There was a pause and another nod. "I think I can do that, but... what do I do about my partner? She keeps putting me in challenges that I have no chance of winning. It's not..."
Broen's eyes opened wider briefly, like he'd only just realized something.
