Varvara stopped for the fifth time to adjust her shoes, which were leather sandals. They shined and looked brand new. They were not new, Varvara had owned them for a while now, but she never used shoes. She spent her time wandering in the woods or at other places where shoes were not needed. But in the city they were necessary.
Varvara knew where everything was, and where they had agreed to see each other, and she wasn't lost. But her journey had repeatedly been interrupted by various sights, smells, sounds and these wretched shoes. Varvara was not one to feel frustration or anger easily but she wanted to throw these shoes to someone's face. Varvara regretted thinking it the next second and decided that she didn't after all. Varvara pulled her hair, which was in a braid, over her shoulder and checked if the feather Tristan had gave her was still in place. It was.
Varvara could see people around her were dressed according to the weather, that was still chilly this time of the year. But Varvara was merely wearing a dark blue silk top with short sleeves and white silk pants. They fluttered in the wind and made Varvara smile. She didn't feel cold and wanted to take advantage of that. Even of some people looked at her strangely. Varvara didn't mind.
Varvara continued her journey and looked around her in awe. The city was bustling, there were many people, stores, street vendors and some things Varvara couldn't name. But she would just ask Tristan later, or they would find out together.
Varvara was looking forward to this outing with Tristan, the half-angel half-demon was such a pleasant person and he made Varvara feel warm. She skipped a little and wanted to spin but thought it may inconvenience some other people on the street. So Varvara just grinned.
Varvara could see that she was getting closer to her destination and she checked her cellular phone just in case. One of the people in the dorm had helped her set the navigator, a kind of path finder, on. The big red arrow was getting closer. Though Varvara couldn't see it.
But she saw something else. Something blue. Varvara smiled and snaked her way through the crowd to Tristan. The boy stood 5 inches shorter than Varvara and she smiled at him from her own 6 feet.
"Hello Tristan. It is sucj a delight to see you once more."

The blue skinned young man walked through the crowds, his red eyes zipping about at all the sites, his ears doing their best to hear all the sounds, his tail was coiled around his waist to keep people from stepping on it, he wore plain clothes, but he still stood out. There was so much, it was nearly overwhelming, he'd almost forgotten about the pastry on a stick he had, still hot and coated in cinnamon.

Then he heard a familiar voics, one he'd heard at the camping trip and some times after, Varavar the rain nymph. Turning he gave her a tiny smile, more emotion than most are able to make him show. "Hello Varavar," his head tilted to one side, the tip of his tail swaying a bit, "it's good to see you too."

Looking to his pastry on a stick, he handed it to her, "thank you for coming, I got this for you, the stand was closing for the day, I thought you'd like it." He'd never had a friend before, so it hadn't even crossed his mind that this could technically be a date.

Varvara smiled back at Tristan, incredibly happy that he was glad to see her too, and tilted her head slightly, for she had seen the pastry he was holding. And like he had read her thoughts he handed the churro to Varvara. Varvara, who had particular love towards churros, took the stick and looked at Tristan with big, grateful eyes.
"Are you quite certain? Oh, thank you so much Tristan! I simply adore these!"
Varvara briefly hugged Tristan, being careful not to drop the churro or touch Tristan with it. And when she pulled away Varvara started nibbling on the churro.
"I do now regret I didn't get you anything. I saw so many such wonderous sights on my way here. And just when I particularly brought money and everything."
Varvara lifted a little purse she was carrying, loaned to her by a friend. The only thing inside it was money, some pieces of metal and paper. What a peculiar use for trees and minerals.
Varvara took a bite from the churro, looked briefly over Tristan and gasped.
"Oh Tristan, look! What on earth might that possibly be?"
Varvara gestured towards a booth that was selling multicolored and -flavored corn. Varvara took Tristan's hand in hers and smiled at him excitedly.
"Shall we start this outing? I have been waiting for it with such anticipation Tristan. Thank you."

She made him happy, this odd, tall girl, who he'd just met made him feel happy, like he wasn't a freak anymore. "It's ok....school gave me money to spend...said seeing the city with a friend could be good for me," he looked over to the corn, his eyes curious, he'd seen such food served at the circus but had never been allowed to have any, "there's so much."

He looked back to her when he felt her hold her hand, his face blushing ever slightly, given his color it would look more purple than red, "yes, I've been excited too," he'd give her hand a gentle sqeeze before leading her over to the grouping of stands. "There's so much to try....," he bought them each one of the multicolored corn as well as an odd color changing drink.

Tristan would lead her down the sidewalk, walking slowly so that they could eat their food and talk, his tail holding what their hands was unable. "Thank you for coming....it's almost overwhelming....I never imagined there could be so much."

Varvara took note of Tristan's ever so slight blushing, it was purple on his skin, how nice, and it made her smile. She squeezed Tristan's hand a bit back and let him lead her to the booths lined along the street. Tristan's hand felt very warm against Varvara's cool skin and Varvara sneaked a peak at their adjoined hands. It was a nice combination, her nearly white skin and his calming blue. Varvara's smile widened little.
At the booth Varvara took the corn Tristan offered and stared at it.
"Thank you. I do almost feel bad eating this. It looks simply enchanting."
Nevertheless Varvara took a bite, and sighed from pleasure.
"So delicious... Shoes or not, I do not regret anything."
She sipped the drink next, noting that it changed color constantly, and sipped when it was pink colored. Varvara stopped for a second and then made a quick spin. This was such a wonderful day, and her face was simply glowing.
Varvara and Tristan walked along the street and were gathering all kinds of foods. Varvara had already eaten both the churro and corn and on her hands she now had multicolored popcorn and a cotton candy that changed shape according to mood. It was now shaped, colored and glowed like the sun.
"There truly is so much, nearly too much to choose from. But I guess we have time to come later as well."
Varvara smiled at Tristan, and at the same time adored his tail. So handy indeed, and beautiful as well.
Varvara listened to Tristan's thanks and nodded.
"I felt it was a bit overwhelming at first as well, in fact, and still do sometimes. But I do believe you will get used to it, and I am here to help you. I am glad to help you, enjoy it quite a lot, actually. After all, I get to spend time with you, and eat new things."
Varvara grinned at Tristan and ripped a piece from the cotton candy. Then she offered some to Tristan.

He accepted the cotton candy with a small grateful smile, "thank you Varvara," he ate it, enjoying it's sweetness and the way it seemed to dissolve in his mouth. "I like spending time with you," he said, his cheeks flushing purple as they continued to walk, "I..I like seeing you smile."

Tristan took a bite of one of the snacks he held, it was a fruit filled mini pie, "I'm happy that....I can try new things now...see new things," he talked a bit slowly as always, he wasn't used to having real conversations, but he was adjusting and liking it. "Here....," he'd offer her some some of the mini pie, "have some."

The young man stopped as they passed a stand selling toys, stuffed animals of all sorts, he tilted his head and looked over if all. "Let's look," leading her over to the stand, his eyes looked them over, picking up a stuffed walrus wearing a raincoat, he bought it and handed it to her, "for you."

Varvara chuckled as Tristan blushed and she wanted to kiss his cheek. But she decided to do that later and just concentrated on this outing, no, date for now.
"You are very welcome darling, thank you to you too."
Varvara popped some popcorn into her mouth, these were apple and strawberry flavoured. Or at least she thought so. She listened to Tristan's words and her smile only widened.
"I'm happy to see you smile as well. See you blush, see your tail swing, see you experience and try these new things. There is nowhere else I would rather be than right here, with you."
Varvara smiled and tasted a bit of the mini pie and moaned a bit from how delicious it was.
"Besides, this is all new to me too. I'm enjoying this date immensely."

Varvara noticed the stuffed toy stand as well and oggled at all the cute and strange looking toys. She was a bit surprised when Tristan stopped and even more surprised when he bought her a stuffed walrus with a raincoat. She let out a surprised, pleasant surprised laugh when she took in in her arms.
"Oh, thank you Tristan."
Now Varvara kissed his cheek and beamed at him. Then she noticed a stuffed animal, it was a gentle dog with angel wings and a tail that looked just like Tristan's. She picked it up and bought it as well. Then she gave it to Tristan and smiled gently.
"Here you go. This walrus is going to make me think of you every time I see it. I hope that dog makes you think of me."

He'd blush at the kiss and then very gently take the stuffed animal she offered, it was the first gift he'd ever been offered, ever been able to accept. Tristan would look at it a moment, this little stuffed animal, a smile appeared on his face, happy but with just a hint of sadness thrown in, "thank you Varvara," he'd hug it to him, his tail swaying behind him.

Tristan looked to her, gratitude in his eyes, quite possibly the most emotion he'd ever shown anyone in his life, "thank you." He couldn't quite find the words to explain the feeling of warmth in him, it was new and unfamiliar, but very good, so instead of speaking, he'd lean up and gently kiss her cheek.

It seemed unlikely that his purple blush was going to fade any time soon, stepping a little closer, he'd reach down and take her hand in his, gently squeezing it. "This date....perfect, a perfect date," he'd give her a smile, "thank you for coming with me."

Varvara watched happily how Tristan hugged the dog, it really did look like him. Varvara smiled at Tristan gently, she hadn't missed the little hint of sadness. And yet his tail was swaying.
"You're welcome Tristan."
Varvara answered Tristan grateful gaze with as much gratefulness, she owed him as more as he did her, maybe even more. And when he kissed her cheek she felt immense warmth inside of her, so great she thought she'd never be without it.
As Tristan took Varvara's hand and said their date was perfect Varvara squeezed Tristan's hand back and grinned.
"I think so too, but it's not over yet, is it? I, at least, want to spend more time with you."

Tristan shook his head, "no, not over yet," he'd give her hand another gentle squeeze before continuing on, his tail swinging around to gently wrap around her waist just a little. "Do you like it all?...The food and the toy?" he asked, hoping she liked everything he'd picked up for her.

The young man's blush remained, but it lessen a little as they walked, him eating his food and holding his stuffed animal close, "this city.....this island.....there is so much...more than I expected," he looked over all the buildings and stands, at the people coming and going, before looking back to her.

"Thank you for coming....it might be too much...if you weren't here," he'd give her another smile, his tail still around her in a hug of sorts, "we can do this often if you want.....exploring, trying things....more dates." It was all new to him, so he wanted to try it all with someone he liked being around.
