Fighting like Children

They actually bought it. Carmin was relieved but also a little surprised that worked. It made him wonder how easily he could make random stuff about himself up and have others believe him. After all, he wasn’t some special species or anything, he was a human with a curse that nobody would know the true nature of. He’d have to keep that in mind the next time he dug himself into a hole.

Ebviony’s mention of dragons was a little frightening. He was aware actual dragons existed but had yet to meet one. His assumption was that they were giant fire breathing lizards with wings. And that assumption was terrifying to think of as an actual living creature. “D-dragons?” But then there was Ebviony who could apparently create these things. He started to fear them a little more.

Ilia’s explanation of their childhood was nice. It was surprisingly normal sounding in contrast with Ebviony explaining how ridiculously strong their powers were.

Carmin’s eyes trailed off, following a weird floating cat that had appeared just above Ebviony. He didn’t comment on it because he was fairly confident that it was just part of the aura. The cat caused him to sound distracted as he spoke. “That’s nice.”

Poof. The cat was gone, allowing Carmin to snap back to reality, paying closer attention to the conversation again. "Huh, no really, that sounds sweet." Carmin feared that his reply earlier might have come off as sarcastic due to the distraction and felt the need to clarify. "It's important to spend time with your parents." Carmin spoke with a surprising amount of sincerity. He missed his own parents and wished he'd have spent more time with them when he were younger.

It was relieving to then hear that the dragons couldn't actually hurt people. Though it made him wonder. "Do dragons go to this school? I know there's those human charms that usually work on people, but dragons are, well dragons?" He just couldn't picture a dragon sitting through a literature class.

He was starting to understand that a lot of the island's residents weren't as they appeared, but he had no idea that there were a bunch of dragons just roaming around everywhere. He was going to need to be more cautious around people with blue or red hair from now on. He probably would've been more bothered by this fact had he been acting normal.

Upon hearing Ília question whether the human shape charm worked on everyone or not, Carmin answered bluntly with "It doesn't." His voice rather cold as he spoke.
