Caitlin sat on the floor in the corner of the tower room. It was a quiet night, but for once she didn't mind too much. In her hand was a pint size container of Ben and Jerry's Ice Cream. She didn't think ice cream was allowed up here, but shedidn't really care. Its not like she could go to her dorm room and eat it. She didn't have one. And the cafeteria was closed. "Oh gosh I hope Rayana finishes the cave soon..." She said allowed, speaking of the cave Rayana the vampire was making for herself and Caitlin and Allie. Allie! Caitlin had been apart from her friend/stepsister for awhile and had now for the first time seen her again. But Allie had no recollection of her or Rayana. It made Caitlin want to cry, she had suddenly lost her best friend. She missed Lirit too, but she didn't have the same emotional ties with her as she did with Allie. She was feeling depressed, to say the least. This past year, she had lost a lot. Including her family and her boyfriend. She suddenly stared down at the ice cream in her hand with disgust. "I always swore to myself I wouldn't be the kind of girl who sits around and says she found two new "boyfriends."" She rolled her eyes and set the ice cream aside.

((is that okay Addie?))

Soft footsteps sounded in the halls as the young girl walked. Fingers traced lines of dust on the stone walls as she walked, humming quietly to herself. It was almost inaudible, and it would have been completely had it not echoed around. She moved her head to the slide to flip her black hair behind her shoulder, and removed her hand from the wall, wiping the dust on the right leg of her pants. She glanced around, and spotted the steps that led to the towers.

She loved it up here, for some reason. Although, it did scare her a bit up here; the fact that the walls were stone, everything echoed, and the dust all just made it somewhat spooky in the twelve-year-old's opinion.

She started up the stairs of the tower, arms swinging somewhat at her sides. She took the door knob within her small hand and turned it, opening the door and stepping inside the room. She looked around, thinking it was empty before she spotted the other female that was sitting in a corner, holding ice cream. She didn't look very happy, and she frowned a bit as she watched her, wondering whether or not she should speak.

She decided to, even if it was only a greeting. "Hello," October said.

Caitlin glanced up in surprise to see a girl of about 12 standing in the doorway. "Hi." She said, returning her greeting. She smiled slightly at her and pushed up to her feet. She walked across to her. She wanted to say something, but had no idea what. So she decided to just start with what most conversations with people you've never met do. And introduction. "I'm Caitlin." She said. She tipped her head to the side slightly and avoided the girls eyes. She hoped it was not evident that she had previously been crying.

She looked around the tower, her eyes finally landing on the single window. The place wasn't good for much, other than hiding out whenyou are depressed and have no place better to go. She said as much to the other, younger girl. "What are you doing up here? Its not exactly the type of place kids come to hang out."

October smiled somewhat, though barely noticeable, when the girl said hello. She watched as she stood up and walked over to her, and took a few steps inside the room so that she wasn't just in the door way. She closed the door somewhat, though still leaving it open about a foot or two. She nodded as the other female said her name. "I'm October," she said. "It's nice to meet you, Caitlin." She smiled a bit more, though a look of concern came into her violet eyes when she girl avoided her eyes. She could tell that there was probably something wrong, though she couldn't tell the girl had been crying.

She was about to ask if she was alright when the girl asked her why she was there. She shrugged her shoulders somewhat as half of a reply. "I don't really know," she said quietly. "I came up here before, and I like the view... although it is a little bit spooky, with the stone walls and dust and all." She stopped herself before she started rambling, and decided that now was the perfect time to ask if she was alright.

"Caitlin, are you alright? You seem upset..." the girl said quietly.

Caitlin smiled a little. "Yes, I am a bit upset, but I'll be okay. Some disappointing things happened lately. I won't go into detail and tell you my story, unless of course you wanted me too, but I honestly don't think you do..." She frowned at herself. Cait, this girl probably thinks you are soooo strange! Caitlin shook the thought from her head. She looked back up. "Sorry. Just was thinking about something... Yeah, the view up here can be pretty nice. It makes for a good place to hide out. No one cares much about some spooky tower." She turned around and looked out the window for a minute, then turned back around. "You probably find me a bit weird..." Caitlin said, giving voice to her earlier thought.

October was silent as Caitlin spoke, but started speaking when she paused. "Well, you can tell me if you want to," she said softly. "Sometimes it helps if you tell people what's going on, but I'll understand if you don't want to. We just met a moment ago, after all." She smiled just a little bit, but like before, it was barely noticeable. She watched as the girl frowned, but was patient for her to start speaking again. "Yeah, I suppose it can be a good hide out."

She shrugged her shoulders somewhat again at what she had said, but shook her head when the girl said something about being wierd. "No, not at all," she said. "Everyone is a little bit on the odd side at times, especially the people here. You're not weird." She smiled, then went silent.

Caitlin smiled. "There are some interesting and weird people here, huh. I guess that makes me feel a little better. Mostly the reason I'm upset right now is because my best friend, Allie, doesn't remember me. Something weird happened to her. We were like sisters, we were 'adopted' by the same person. But Allie doesn't remember her either..." Caitlin paused to collect herself, then continued. " We planned a family reunion, and by chance, the 'new' Allie showed up. Well, you don;t need to hear the rest of my problems. I'll have mercy on ya. So, what are your powers?"

October frowned visibly when the other female said her best friend didn't remember her. She nodded somewhat, even though she didn't completely understand the feeling of someone so close completely forgetting who she was. She knew she would be heartbroken, though, especially if it was someone as close to her as someone like a sister. "I'm sorry," she said quietly. "I'm sure she'll remember you in time, though. Sometimes weird things happen to people. Maybe she lost her memory or something." She didn't know if what she just said would make Caitlin feel better, but she hoped that it would.

She placed her index finger on the stone wall when asked what her powers were. She moved it along a few inches, a small trail of ice following it. She then removed her hand from the wall and the ice began to melt, and she looked at the other girl. "I'm an ice elementalist," she said. "What about you?"

"Nothing quite so interesting as yours." Caitlin said, putting the matter of Allie away for now. "I can go through solids, though not in extreme cold. That power kinda freezes out, and won't work. I found that out when in this stupid little fight with some girl. Her powers were ice, like yours. So I hope I don't get in an argument with you. Another one that I just recentally discovered is that if I get mad enough, I can shoot this flamey things... Kinda strange." She demonstrated the going through walls part.

"I can go through solids, though not in extreme cold...."

October's face lit up for a moment. "Really? That's so cool!" she said. It really was; she had never met anyone that had that power before! But then again, the only people that she had known that had powers were her family. But still... she found it amazing. She watched as Caitlin demonstrated, blinking for a moment. "Wow! What's going through solids and stuff like? Is it fun?"

".... Her powers were ice, like yours. So I hope I don't get in an argument with you..."

The girl smiled for a moment. She was usually able to keep her temper under control, though getting arguments wasn't impossible for her. "I hope so too," she said. "You're nice." She nodded as Caitlin spoke about the 'flamey things'. "Oh, that's not true. You're powers are as interesting as mine! I mean, at least you can do more than one thing, right?" October asked, responding to the girl's first statement.
