It was a nice and warm afternoon. Akane skipped her last lesson for the day and left the school campus to meet with Kenta. She still wore her uniform, she didn't feel like going back to her room to change. Although there was still about an hour until they should meet at the appointed place, she headed straight to the woods feeling the urge to be alone for a while.

She was nervous of course, this was the first time she would cast dark illusion spell on a person who didn't attack her first, but the reason she was about to do that bothered her even more. She walked slowly following the path marked on the map Kenta gave her, thinking of the all possible outcomes of their trial. She was wondering if it will actually work and help him find the answers about his past, and if it does, what will happen once he had them. She was afraid that she might have promised him too much.

After a long walk she finally reached the edge of the woods and spotted the clear area Kenta told her about. He wasn't there yet and it gave her some more time to try to calm down. She opened her bag, took a blanket out of it and stretched it on the ground. She then sat down letting out a sigh.
'Enough! I'm the next Okami - if I can't help a kitsune, who can?' She shook her head and the worried expression disappeared from her face.
Instead of thinking about what could happen she decided to clear her mind - that was something she really needed if she intended to make her dark spell last longer. The greenery that surrounded her helped a lot with that, it reminded her of home...

Kenta was there soon after, a peach jelly juice pouch hanging from his mouth as he walked. He was trying hard to keep confidence. Nee-chan said she could help and she would. He had his fists clenched hard, trying not to psyche himself out of this.
Everything will be better after this. I know it will!

Akane was in some kind of meditative state when Kenta arrived. She was listening to the sounds of nature - the fluttering of birds' wings, the sound of leaves quivering on the wind, the buzzing sound of insects... It all helped her relax and she was completely immersed in it. If there wasn't for her inner sense which would be activated every time a kitsune was near, she probably wouldn't be aware of his presence.

She turned her head and looked over the shoulder towards the little kitsune boy who was approaching her. "Such a relief to see you! For a moment there I thought I got lost." She laughed and waved.

"Not a chance." He said with a teasing pout. "My map is perfect!" He ran up to her and sat down, taking another juice pouch from his sleeve. "Do you want one, Nee-chan?" He offered. He smiled at her, suppressing his nerves underneath it.

"Of course it's perfect! If I doubted your orientation skills I wouldn't choose you as my guide through the dormitory in the first place!" She winked and moved a little to make enough room for him on the blanket.

"You brought that for me?"
She was surprised when he offered her the juice pouch. "Thanks! I like them very much!" She accepted it, opened it quickly and took a sip.
"Umai~!" She exclaimed happily.

"Um... So how are you today? Are you ready for this?" She smiled but the tone of her questions was serious.

Kenta nodded and sat down with her. "I... I think I'm ready... I couldn't focus in class all day today, so I... Kinda bailed. I tried meditating for a while but..." He shook his head. "I really couldn't focus... I just really wanna do this. The anticipation is honestly killing me."

Akane sighed. "To tell you the truth, I felt the same. I skipped last class today, I couldn't stay at such a crowded place anymore. Especially not on math!" She tried to pull a joke.

"But you know what - it's gonna be alright! I can feel it. It's normal to be worried, but we'll find a way to deal with whatever comes out from this. Somehow I know everything is gonna be fine in the end." She said trying to encourage both him and herself.

Kenta nodded. "Right. Everything will..." He let out a sigh and his smile wavered a bit. His juice pouch fell into his lap. "Everything will be good." He finished, biting his lip. "I... Believe in Nee-chan. And..." Something was clearly troubling him, but... it was somehow distant from what he was saying. There was no doubt in his heart that Akane could do what she said she could, but... Something else weighed on him.

Akane has only noticed how troubled he was when he started acting strange.
"K... Kenta? What's wrong?" She turned to him and gave him a look of concern.
"Are you sure you want to do this today?"

He nodded, trying hard to sound confidant. "I'm ok, Nee-chan. I'm ready. Once we do this, I can figure out what comes next, right?"
