Katie really wanted to help Vespa, but she hadn't even begun to try to look into extending her girlfriends life when she hit her first wall. She knew next to nothing about demons. Sure, she knew that they came from hell, and that they were weak to holy magic, but other then that? She wasn't even sure what kind of demon Vespa was.

But, she knew she had to start somewhere, and so she headed to the library, hoping that maybe Vito would be there, or someone else who could help her find whatever she was looking for.

But it was no use, and after 15 minutes, Katie was about ready to give up. She hadn't found anything that looked useful, but she wanted to check one last bookshelf before she left. And who should she find there, but a familiar spider demon. "Amber!" Katie lit up. "Ohmygosh, you don't know how happy I am to see you! You know alot about demons right?"

Amber was resting on a beanbag chair super engrossed in this murder mystery novel when an excitable voice called from behind her.

"B-bhaahh?" eeped Amber as her book fumbled out of her hand and turned to find Katie.

"K-katie? Uhh hey?" it was relief to Amber that it was just Katie and not some homicidal maninic the crept up behind but she was still rather perplexed why Katie seemed so happy to see her.

"Good to see you too... but... this is a library soo... maybe tone down your excitement just a pinch?" sheepishly suggested Amber as she holds up her chitinous hand and presses her thumb and index finger ever so closely but not quite together.

"And uhh... yeah I guess I know a bit about demons being one myself. Do you have a question for me?" now that she can relax, she smiled to Katie and patiently waited for whatever it was Katie planned on asking.

Katie's hand quickly covered her mouth when Amber asked her to keep it down. Sometimes Katie forgot how loud she could be. "Ohhhh, whoops. Sorrryyy." Katie said in a quieter tone, before giving a sheepish look to the handful of people who were staring.

Katie grinned when Amber agreed to answer her questions. "Perfect! Thank you so so much." She said, pulling out a small notebook. "So, uhh.. I guess my first question is how long do demons normally live?"

Amber tilted her head, curious that that was the question Katie wanted to ask her of all things.

"Umm... well every demon is slightly different but most tend to be long lived or even immortal. I mean, its not uncommon for a demon to be hundreds of thousands of years old. But... those with partial demon... well its are to say but usually they have a longer lifespan due to their ancestry compared their peers but I guess it is not always the case." explained Amber, speaking more from her own personal experience with fellow demons rather than accumulated book knowledge.

"So... I hope that helps you with your first question. Sounds like you have quite few more questions for me though."

Katie nodded as Amber gave her explanation. She'd guessed Vespa only having a few years left to live was quite the outlier, but it felt better to have it confirmed, and if a shorter life wasn't normal, there had to be some explanation.

"Well.. If most demons are long lived, is there any reason their life might be shortened? Like to a few years?" Katie asked. "And.. How well does life magic work on demons?" She was hoping that maybe she could use some kind of life magic to extend Vespas life. It was in the name after all.

Amber squinted with all 6 of her eyes. Never had she heard of such a thing but there always seems to be exceptions abound. Given how specific Katie's question was, she figure that this question wasn't purely academic in nature.

"Uhhh... well..." it was tough for Amber to come up with anything such a predicament isn't normal for most demons "... gosh I really don't know what to tell you Katie. This isn't usually a problem for full blooded demons..."

Wait, what if the issue was because the person in question isn't pureblooded demon but half demon or something?

"... wait... unless the person in question is half demon." Amber then looked back to Katie with a serious expression on her face "Half demons sometimes have issues, especially if the other half conflicts the demon half. Like... my sister's divine half conflicted with her demon half which nearly killed her. Maybe your friend is like that? As for life magic... I dunno if it will help. Maybe it will prolong their life just a bit longer but its hard to say if it could stave off death."

Katie tried not to look too disappointed when Amber said she didn't know what to tell her. It was a long shot anyway that Amber would know what to do.

She blinked when Amber said asked if Vespa was half demon. "Well.. She is a half demon. Reaper, specifically. Do you think that could be it?" Katie asked. She didn't think there would be a conflict, but maybe.

"If it is shortening her life, there's a way to take it out. Or stop it, right?" She asked. If Dalia's divine half had nearly killed her, there had to have been someway they had fixed that. Maybe they could do the same to Vespa.

"Maybe... when it comes to half demons sometimes both sides aren't … agreeable with one another. So they are half Reaper? Well I guess that will make them a bit like my sister Ossa then..." said Amber with soft sigh when she spoke of Ossa. She hadn't seen her little Ossa in years and hoped that she was well.

"Well... the way my sister Dalia went about separating herself created... well... a whole lot of complications even she managed to survive by the end of it. The only other thing I can think of is getting in contact with a high demon lord. Not that I recommend that either as... well... they usually drive a hard bargain." explained Amber, wish she had a simple and easy answer for Katie.

Katie let out a sigh as Amber spoke. It was clear Amber didn't really know what to tell her, and Katie felt bad for putting her in that position. "Sorry, for asking you all these questions it's just.. Well.. It's my girlfriend we're talking about."

She blinked when Amber said she could talk to a Demon lord, since separating the two parts sounded like more trouble than it was worth."Right... I'm guessing I'd have to sell my soul, or something like that?" Katie asked.

"OH hey its okay! Its really sweet and generous of you for trying to look for ways to help your girlfriend. Like... she is lucky to have someone like watching out for her." assured Amber. When you love someone, you do anything for them.

As Katie inquired about consulting with Demon Lords over her soul, Amber could offer her only a grimace.

"Something like that... you don't have much bargaining power when it comes consulting with powerful demons. There are wishmakers and tricksters that you seek out. Though they tend to be more whimsical... know that whatever they grant not usually done out of the kindness of your heart. If you do consult with higher power... you are gonna to need to stack things in much of your favor as possible as whomever you are dealing with is gonna be holding all the cards." warned Amber
