RE: dissolving at dawn [hara & sophia]

Oh. Oh. The touch of Hara's fingers against Sophia's skin was somehow simultaneously startling and incredibly natural. Her touch seemed to calm the fuzz of other thoughts, smoothing everything out.

Leaning in, meeting Hara's lips, that felt natural, too.

With just a touch of hesitation, Sophia rested one hand on Hara's shoulder. The other hung in midair, near Hara's hip, as if Sophia were about to lay it there.

Closing her eyes, she melted into the kiss and smiled.

Eyes closed, Hara moved her hands from Sophia's face to her sides, feeling a warm blush on her cheeks as she felt Sophia's hand rest on her shoulder. Her fingers drifted lightly down from Sophia's waist, brushing against the lace of the top. Feeling her shape, Hara's hands rested more firmly, more confidently, on the soft chiffon of her skirt, pulling her hips slightly closer to her own.

A small smile crossed her face as she felt the tip of Sophia's nose on her cheek. It wasn't a perfect, Hollywood kiss, but it felt natural. It felt good; Sophia's lips felt soft and warm, Hara's own pressing a little more firmly as the kiss lengthened and deepened. After a moment, and to her own regret, she pulled away.

"Well, uh," she began, hands still resting on Sophia's hips.

"That happened."

"Well, uh," Hara said, hands still resting on Sophia's hips. "That happened."

Sophia blinked, pulling back. She noticed belatedly that they were both still holding each other, and that one hand was still hovering over Hara's shoulder. Gingerly, with almost-felt trepidation, she let it fall to her shoulder.

Everything seemed to be just a little slower, a little smoother, the edges and the noise dulled down.

Sophia didn't know quite how to feel. On the one hand, the kiss had been good, and their close proximity felt natural and... in a word, wonderful. On the other, Hara was a stranger, and distance should be kept.

In the end, the logical side of Sophia won out. But not without reservation, which Hara could surely feel as Sophia let her hand slip down Hara's arm, almost closing around the wrist, before letting go.

She stepped back, dislodging both their hands on each other's hips.

Sophia cleared her throat. Touched the curve of her index finger to her lips.

"That... certainly did," she said. Putting one arm back onto the railing, she cleared her throat again."So, uh... you come here often?"

Sophia was the smoothest.

:Absolutely,: Thuya agreed, with the mental equivalent of rolling his eyes.

Sophia grinned.

"That... certainly did," she said. Putting one arm back onto the railing, she cleared her throat again. "So, uh... you come here often?"

With a slight and irrational sense of bereavement, Hara turned away slightly and rested both of her hands on the railing, arms stretched straight in front of her. You did just kiss a stranger, you know, she reminded herself, shaking her head slightly as if to shake off her slight embarrassment. Turning to face Sophia, she smiled lightly at the question. She's not a conversationalist, is she?

"Well, given I'm studying here, yes," she responded with a laugh. "Is it the accent that throws you, maybe?"

An eyebrow raised, she turned her head again to look at the stars and constellations. Hara, for all her bravado and extroverted enthusiasm, felt quietly worried that she had taken things too far, that she had made Sophia inordinately uncomfortable. Hoping Sophia would eventually tell her if she had gone too far, Hara exhaled slowly before speaking again.

"What about you? I mean, we talked before, but I've never really seen you around the Academy before. Have you been here a while?"
