Marina Bellamy

Marina was officially running for Student Council president.

Arriving to the decision wasn't difficult. When the campaigns were announced, Marina was at the top of her social circles' list to become President. She called her parents in California about the situation, and her dad was absolutely thrilled his princess was going into politics. He mailed her a special credit card, a new outfit, a hundred balloons, a megaphone, stickers, flyers and pins saying "Bellamy 2015."

That day, Marina strutted into the cafeteria at lunch with her cheerleading uniform and a megaphone. A table was immediately cleared out and she climbed it, making sure everyone got a look of the beautiful Captain of the Cheerleader team.

"Attention, losers," she said through the megaphone. "Our lord and Saviour Katy Perry had a Teenage Dream and so do I, Marina Bellamy, Sophomore and Captain of the Cheer Squad. My Teenage Dream is to become your next Starlight Academy Student Council President. As president, I will focus on the important issues: A salon and hair parlor here in the campus. Free manicures. Pizza everyday in the cafeteria, and an actual live soda fountain everyone can use."

Everyone cheered.

Now here was the tricky part.

She also had a lot of actual, useful platforms in mind, but it was difficult to put them in a way that would interest people. Here goes. "Youth leadership programs. Accessible counselors. A more well-researched meal plan for non-humans. A state of the art, next generation archiving system for the library. And, you know, all that boring stuff. Vote smart. Vote cool. Vote Bellamy for your Next Starlight Academy Student Council President!"

She crouched down to hand someone her megaphone and replace it with her pom-poms. She readied herself for the cheer she wrote last night. "Who's the leader with your int'rests in mind? Vote, vote, vote, Bellamy~ Who's the leader pushing the opposition behind? Vote, vote, vote, Bellamy~" She shook her pompoms and threw them in the air. "Vote!"

The cafeteria had an uproar of cheers.

She jumped down, flipping her hair. Her lackeys started giving passersby buttons of Bellamy 2015. Marina, meanwhile, made her way through the crowd, picked up a tray and fell in line to get food.

Marina was talking to her friend Tiffany on the phone while in line. Tiffany was raving about how her friend, Beth, possessed her ex-boyfriend and made him have sex with the girl he cheated on her with's mother and it was like so totally scandalous —

until some hater threw her button at her feet and effectively smashed it.

"Tiffany, I'll call you back." Marina clicked her phone and the line went dead.

Marina was more than used to haters. Popularity came hand in hand with infamy, after all. There was suddenly a crowd gathered, with their fascinated ooohs and aaahs, but Marina raised a fist and immediately silenced them. The tension could be cut with a knife.

She had the upper advantage and favoritism of the crowd. After all, whoever started chaos is the instigator, and she was the victim. (When it was more like she was a force of nature and paid no attention to those who were swept in her currents.)

Marina placed a hand on her hip. "Yeah, it's called campaigning because of the upcoming elections, genius. Did you have a thesaurus for lunch or do you just naturally sound like a Renaissance fair?"

Something at the back of her mind twitched. She was unreasonably annoyed, and it made her mouth salivate. She hadn't eaten anything all day and she was starving.

"Oh? I don't stand a chance? If you're so keen on big words and intellectual dominance, let's use the scientific method. Your hypothesis: I don't have a chance with elections. How do people win elections?"

She pointed at a random girl. She jumped, and answered immediately, "By getting votes!"

"That's right, sweetheart!" Marina said sweetly at the girl. "Give the girl a button."

The girl practically fainted when she got her button. Marina continued. "Votes from real students all over the campus. Not your vote. All of the wonderful people here. Now, let's test if 'my pathetic display of antics'" — she said, with an incredibly sarcastic tone of voice — "won't garner votes, as you say. Which one of you cuties are voting for me?"

Almost the entire crowd gathered raised their hands. She looked at Carl and shrugged. "Checkmate, darling. Move along before you embarrass yourself further."

RE: [EVENT] ATTENTION, LOSERS (open)

“Hey Carl.”

He wouldn’t have much time to react before Chloe was behind him, arms around his neck, choking him, draining him. Even though he wouldn’t be able to breathe, he would feel weak, and oddly relaxed in Chloe’s arms. He would feel the way Loralei (probably) made him feel. Her tail wrapped around his arms, holding them tight against his sides.

“Because I’m Loralei’s friend, I’m not going to break your spine.” Chloe knew that she needed to mention that first. If this didn’t work, she needed a reason for him not to kill her. Her grip tightened. “But I also don’t appreciate you ‘breaking’ people over this bullshit. Or attacking people indiscriminately in a room full of superpowered people, which is,” she laughed, "Pretty goddamn stupid."

Chloe didn’t know much about Carl other than the fact that he was Loralei’s boyfriend, and that he was openly attacking people in the dining hall. And, apparently, that he cast spells by muttering nonsense. That was why she was choking him – if he couldn’t breathe, he probably couldn’t cast spells. If only she knew how to do a blood choke and an air choke at the same time; she’d have to hold this choke for several minutes to actually make him unconscious.

“Also for the record, Marina, I think it’s cool that you actually want to do something with the position. Instead of just treating it like a popularity contest. That might have even given you my vote.” Chloe was still probably going to vote Kaya, but there was no harm in making Marina think otherwise.

Having haters was pretty commonplace. But this extended beyond haters. Carl just hurt her people, the net that made her feel safe, and when they were gone, so did the last of Marina's security. She froze for a moment, looking at the writhing bodies on the floor, on the wall, the ones that smashed through the window. He was so butthurt he got his ass slam dunked that he was resorting to violence, but that was the reason Marina had a tongue of barbed wire: to avoid violence.

It went against everything she knew. This wasn't fair. She would get hurt when she avoided sight. She would get hurt when she was in the limelight. What was all that effort for? The world had it out for her because she was a woman.

The frenzy shook and rattled and threatened to come out. Marina took deep breaths to make it stay down, but she was helpless and alone and the danger alarms rang in her head. Her eyes became blood red and her fangs started to come out —

Until this girl came out of nowhere and started draining Carl.

Her security came back, and she could feel the edges of frenzy melting away. She developed a newfound appreciation for whoever she was... she really wanted to know her name. "Who are you?"

The breath left Chloe’s body. Her back didn’t feel very good. In the few seconds she was still dazed from the impact, he had left her grasp. Not that it seemed to matter, as he could still cast spells without his breath.

She was just regaining her bearings when the foot connected with her ribs. At least one of them broke; she didn’t know if it was more than that. All she knew was that she felt a crunch, then searing, overwhelming pain.

She cried out in pain. Then, with the same breath, she began to laugh. The laugh ended in a sputtering cough. Her ribs weren’t the only thing that had snapped.

“Actually, the name I use here is Chloe,” she said. “But that’s not important right now. Please, continue as you were. The way that you’re using your incredible magical power to attack children over a mother fucking student body president campaign is surely something to be proud of.” She sat up, slowly, carefully, so she could look him in the eyes. “We will speak of this glorious moment in your history for generations to come. We will sing songs about that time you completely flipped shit and attacked children. Loralei will be proud to call herself yours.”

If she couldn’t attack him physically, she could at least try to make him feel shame, if such a thing was even possible. Idly, she wondered if her ‘father’ had any advice for dealing with insolent mortals like this one. The thought of possible future revenge kept her happy through the pain.

"Enough is enough, Carl! I won't allow you to hurt her further!"

Marina rushed to 'Chloe's' side. The look on her face was rather sinister, but it was obvious she was in pain. She acted in her defense, and now she was going to act on hers. She helped her stay up, keeping a hand on her arm, and gave Carl a sharp glare.

Most of the people in the cafeteria either ran out to escape or get help. There was something bubbling inside Marina — not hunger, exactly, but something far more ancient and true to her nature.

It was her voice.

Before the lunatic could take another step near her or Chloe, Marina screeched at his direction. It was a deafening force that shook both the ground and bones and pushed everything out of its direction. It shattered glass and light bulbs, and made several tables and chairs fly along with Carl.

She had never done something like that before. She always ran from her problems or hid under waves of people... She had never gotten the urge to fight back until she found that she wanted to defend someone.

When her throat began to ache, she stopped screeching and attended to Chloe again. "Chloe... is it? I'm sorry you had to get hurt. I..." She glanced at the hurt people around the cafeteria. "...I'm sorry they had to get hurt, too."

Kimiko saw some people fly off the cafeteria's windows and she immediately had to check it out.

The sight that greeted her was absolutely horrifying.

The entire cafeteria was a ghost town, and there were literally people writhing in pain. She looked at the source of all this chaos and... it was a man going stir crazy. Of course. It was always men hurting girls, and it was always left to Kimiko to save them.

She watched the head cheerleader, with new fangs and claws, drag a demon girl away but the meteor was big and fast and headed to their direction. She looked at the guy pointedly. "Are you nuts!? Those girls are going to die!"

Kimiko was incredibly athletic. She jumped through the rubble and headed to the two girls, a plan forming in her head and certainty in her heart. She looked at the head cheerleader intently. "You're the head cheerleader, right? Love your work, you should throw me at that meteor!"

"What!? I can't do that! You'll die!" Marina was shaking, in the verge of tears. This was exactly the sort of thing Kimiko wanted to prevent. Girls crying. Kimiko touched her hand gently and gave her a reassuring smile.

That was all Marina needed.

She gave Kimiko ten digits and, in her frenzied state, threw her at the meteor at high speeds. Kimiko's shield materialized in her left hand and her sword in her right and, with the blessing of her Prince, a new plate armor surrounded her entire body. She sliced the meteor in half, splitting into two parts, and she landed a few feet away from Carl. With a wave of her hand, her sword, shield and armor dissolved into rose petals and she stormed up to Carl, grabbing him by the shirt.

"You're in school grounds! You can't do that stuff! Why the FUCK are you hurting innocent girls!? Did you hurt all these people too!? What the fuck is wrong with you!?"

In the background, Marina had her phone to her ear. The person in the other line finally picked up. "Hiiiiiiiii~ Loralei, sweetheart, it's me, Marina, your Squad Captain? How are you~? Listen, your husband is in the cafeteria wrecking property and injuring students and he totally attempted to murder me and this girl, Chloe? I don't know if you care about that sort of thing, but please restrain him before he hurts anymore people. Love you, darling~"

RE: [EVENT] ATTENTION, LOSERS (open)

Bored out of her mind. That was the best way to describe exactly how the genie felt in this moment of time. Her pencil was tapped absent-mindedly against her desk as the teacher elaborated extensively upon his failure with woman, rather than the Ancient History Loralei had chose to take. So instead of receiving the class she paid good money for, she paid for open venting to a captive audience. And Loralei looked like she couldn’t take it much more.

Her head slumped against the desk for maybe if she took a nap like the rest of the class the professor would get the memo and teach already. But before she could put her lazy plan into action, her body jolted with the sound of her cellphone going off in her pocket. The teacher as well as the entire class turned their heads to look at her disapprovingly. Oh wait, she didn’t care. Acting as if they weren’t present she reached into her pocket, expecting it to be from Carl for meeting up for lunch. A bit early, but it would save her from this maddening, monotonous hell. But that wasn’t the case. It was that girl Marina, who she put down in her contacts for that cheerleading team she totally wasn’t going to quit within a week. Was she interrupting her class time for practice? Raising a brow she lifted the phone to her ear. "Yo-" Was all she could fit in before her ear was filled with the deafening sounds of screams and explosions, as well as that posh yet frantic voice of the cheerleading captain. What was she….

Husband.

Well, that was all she needed to hear.

"Ah for fuck’s sake..."
She shut off her phone and tucked it into her pocket. She didn’t need to hear anymore. Her husband was up to old tricks. Well, tricks as in ruthlessly tearing through people to assert his superiority. A heavy sigh came from her lips as she looked to the professor. "I’ll uh… Be back. I gotta go to the little girl’s room." She smirked shakily, before casting a cloud of fog over her. She had no time to waste, and this would be the fastest way to get there. In a secon’d notice she poofed out, so that she may relocate immediately to the cafeteria entrance.

From there, it would only get a hell of a lot worse.

There was fire, students lining the floors, ice, shards of glass and two familiar figures in front of the only man she ever wanted to marry. One figure facing him off directly, the other… On the ground. As if she was thrown there. He… Had hurt her friends. Not just other people, but people she cared about too. That’s it. She couldn’t stand by while he destroyed things any longer. These were lives he was injuring. Regardless of how meaningless they were to him. She couldn’t enable this.

So if he was going to be drastic, she was too.

Her hands reached in front of her to crack her knuckles, before summoning another smoke cloud. She had been practicing for awhile, so if there was any time to use this magic it would be now. The cloud filled the space in front of her husband, and the people attempting to stop him. Those people would gain another ally… Er, monster. For as he was inevitably going to cast a spell, a new obstacle stood in front of him in the form of a giant, silver scaled, pissed off dragon.

If that didn’t get his attention, she didn’t know what would.

Her wings raised to shield the students behind her, her tail just before her fallen friend, Chloe. If he wasn’t going to listen to the protests of her peers, he may as well listen to the nagging of his spouse. And nag she would.

"Oh, so you don’t care about these students huh? Well, honey, if you haven’t noticed I’m one too. Does that make me an insect to you? Hm? Well now, I’m the biggest insect of them all." The dragon’s voice growled, though was underlined with a bit of hurt. She knew he was like this. But… To go and hurt her own friends… To ruin harmless activities that should have meant nothing to him? What… What was he thinking?! "So if that’s the case if there’s anyone you should fight, it’s me. Your wife. Would you do it, Carl? Would you hurt the woman that loves you the most?"

It was his call. She would be right here. But what appeared to be chastising was not quite as such. She was trying to save him. From himself.

She could only see how well it would work out for both of them.

RE: [EVENT] ATTENTION, LOSERS (open)

"She's just being difficult right now. You know how teenagers are, you were one just a few years ago."

It wasn't often that Aurora got to see family, but at Starlight Academy, family came to her more often than not in the form of Terrene, Aurora's second daughter. Specifically an elementary school teacher, Terrene was something of a firecracker on occasion, not knowing what to do with some of her students if they were older than the age of twelve. It was about that time that kids got a little bit...weird.

"She's barely fourteen, heck, if not younger. And a second boyfriend already? This is why I stick to little kids. Their greatest problem is over the color of their skittles. I don't know how you do it."

Both mother and daughter shared a laugh.

"Decades of experience, and I still don't have a clue."

Aurora sighed at the notion. A lifespan of nearly one millennium, and she would probably never be able to quite grasp the complexities of the teenage human, both in male, and female forms.

"Well, give it a couple years, she'll grow out--"

"Do you hear that?"

Terrene had stopped in her tracks, eyes squinting slightly. Aurora looked up, now curious as to what her daughter was listening to. After a few seconds, the mage started to hear the echoes down the hallway. Screaming, shouting. Fire.

"I smell smoke."

That was the last straw. The pair made a beeline, heading right into what could only be described as hell opening up on Earth. Students knew it as the cafeteria. Terrene was the first there, already dressed for the occasion. Aurora, who was in a dress, was only seconds behind. Both however, got the full face of a cafeteria that was for all intents and purposes, utterly destroyed.

And the perpetrators were still arguing, yelling, screaming, and in one case, still casting spells.

"Terrene."

Aurora's daughter instinctively knew what to do, placing her hand with her mothers. Her body disappeared, and was replaced with a staff that was slightly taller than she, with a golden tinge not unlike the gear piece she wore in her hair.

The director was not a happy being.

As the student with the fireball hadn't yet made a move while she was there, Aurora fired bolt of entropic energy at the fireball, hopefully quelling the situation before things got out of hand.

Not that they already had. Thankfully, Aurora's spells now worked perfectly without paradox backlash due to the amount of magic already in the area, although she detested having to use them in front of students, or on them for that matter. It was a first since she had started.

"Back away from each other. And put down your spells before I put them down for you."

For anyone that knew Aurora, the anger was something that had to be provoked in a major way. Destroying a campus building and harming students was a great way of doing that. Although only one person had an active spell, they were all guilty of fighting at this point.

"If you know what's good for you, you'll all line up against the wall. Again, before I make you do so."
