Dani entered the music room. She loked around at the empty room. As far as she knew, the room was empty except for a multitude of instruments. And, as far as she knew, music was all she needed. She spotted a stool with a microphone in front of it. She stepped over to it and dusted off the seat, sat down, and unslung her guitar off her back. She flicked on the microphone and a horrible screeching filled the room as it adjusted to the speakers.

Dani groaned and covered her ears. It burnt her head badly. Then it cut off and she was ready to play. She set the guitar on her lap and hit a few notes. She smiled softly despite her aching head, and said a few words along with the notes.

"You said the way my blue eyes shine, put those Georgia stars to shame at night, I said that's a lie."

Thinking he could go somewhere quiet, Dev went up to the music room. But when he got to the door he saw someone was already accupying the room. He was about to turn and leave when she began playing. Transfixed, Dev leaned against the doorjamb and watched.

When she begn singing, a smile tugged at the corners of his mouth. She sounded like an angel. Well, Dev wasn't really sure. He'd never heard an angel sing, but he was sure that if he had, it would sound exactly like this girl.

As Dani entered the more complicated strums of the song, she felt a prickling on the back of her neck. Though she didn't mind peopel watching her, it was kind of akward. Dani shrugged it off and smiled as she started to sing the song again. Of course, her powers were off, and would stay off for know. She didn't want to change emotions, without permisssion, of course.

"He's just a boy in a Chevy truck, that has a tendancy of gettin' stuck on back roads at night... And I was right there beside him... All summer long. And then the time we woke up to find that summer gone.."

Dani stopped polaying and turned her head so that one eye could see him. She strapped her guitar to her back and turned the microphone.

"Naw, it's by Taylor Swift. She's actually a very nice singer. Better than me, but, hey, I'm not one to judge, right? I'm Dani. Dani California. And you are...?"

Dani got off the stool and started towards the boy. She held out a hand. She was smiling, and she looked overall friendly.

Dev smiled and took her small hand in his large callused one, shaking it. "Devlin Irons, but I go by Dev. Nice to meet you, Dani," he greeted, casually looking her up and down.

Dani raised an eyebrow. Taylor Swift was pretty new. Did he not listen to music or just not like girl singers. She shook her head softly and chuckled.

"You play?"

She asked, motioning towards some school instruments. She fiddled with the strap to her guitar as she waited for an answer.

Dev shook his head. "Not really. Used to, but I haven't played in years. How long have you played?"

"Since I was five. My mom says I had a natural talent. My dad says I practice so much he's surprised my fingers haven't fallen off. I guess practice makes perfect."

Dani laughed and shrugged. She didn't think very much of her playing. For her it was just another hobby.

Dev laughed. "Well, you're very good. I'm not a singer and I don't play instruments." He went and sat down.
