They were clearly mutually causing embarrassment for each other by sharing these compliments, and Huilu hid a small amused smile behind her hand as well when Irso laughed. She knew it wasn't to insult her, but Huilu was also very genuine with her compliment. Huilu did not praise anyone if she did not think they deserved it. As for the blushing, Huilu thought nothing of it. She knew that she was attractive by the standards of many people, and thus Irso's reaction wasn't anything new.

As Irso bowed Huilu began to warn him about the cat, but it had already fallen at that point. With her supernatural speed Huilu went to catch the cat, but she could also see that the cat would be able to land on its feet. So in the end stopped mid-motion, and indeed the cat did land on its feet. The way it turned to seek recognition and praise from Irso was very lovable to Huilu's opinion, and it made her chuckle.
"Very well done, small one."
Huilu said, even if the cat did not care for her praise, and gave the cat the smallest applause with the tips of her fingers. There was a faint clacking sound, as Huilu's ice fingers hit each other.

Irso in turn gave Huilu a compliment back, and although it did touch her it also left her slightly sad, thinking that perhaps she would never find the right person to have children with. Huilu was an openminded individual, but the morals she had were stuck tight. And only having children with someone she truly loved was among those.
"In the end their intelligence matters to me not. My only wish is for them to be happy."
Those were perhaps the words you could hear from most parents' mouths, but they rang true. All a parent ever hoped was for their child to be happy, and Huilu was no different.
"Thank you for your words, Irso. I must say you have given me a lot to ponder tonight, and have bettered my night. I didn't imagine I'd be able to discuss topics such as these tonight."

Huliu's response didn't come at much of a surprise. Lovable mother was written all over her face as she talked about children and a future with them. A parent who could care for their child no matter what they were like was the ideal for many children. Irso had high hopes for Huliu in the future as both an artist and a mother. She would be blessed with more children one day and her soulmate was sure to find her. He knew not what greater power may have formed her people but he was sure that they had grand plans for the gentle soul.

Huliu had given not only stimulating conversation but even a souvenir for him to take with him. To say that his evening was lit up by her presence would be an understatement. He shook his head and began to shrug before his blue companion warned him with a roar that he was still present. "I did not expect to meet such a fine lady like yourself when I came here but it seems good art and good people go together."

He rubbed the back of his head and chuckled

"You are a great company to pass the time. Your views on art are thought-provoking, to say the least. Plus coming here by myself made me feel as if I'd be starving for a good speaking companion. If you are ever doing an exhibit of your work again I will be sure to visit."

He had said that already right? Maybe? He couldn't outright ask for her contact information, could he? He just wanted to pass the rest of the day looking at art with her but that would be impossible here. His mind began racing on what to do until he settled on something.

"Actually, if you are ever free and wanted to tour some art pieces with me I'd adore the opportunity. So few of my co-workers find art interesting enough."

His tone was as plain and friendly as it was before. He wasn't scared of a no, rejection was a part of life and he was too old to draw on it too much. He just genuinely relished the thought of speaking with someone so different from him but cordial and graceful in manner. Huliu was a rarity amongst the people he had met so he wished to engage with it as much as possible.

The in-between with Irso and his creation on his shoulder made Huilu laugh, it was simply so lovable. It felt good to laugh, invigorating even, especially in the company of a new acquaintance. Huilu could appreciate intelligent conversation, that still had enough humour to make her laugh.
"I guess you are right. After all, I did meet you here."
Huilu returned the compliment, with a joyful smile on her face. She still had a long evening ahead of her, but thanks to Irso it was going to feel much shorter than before.

"I would be overjoyed to see you in another exhibit, perhaps we can find time to view art together then."
It had been Huilu's intention to ask for Irso's contact information after this conversation, or at least offer her own. Huilu wasn't afraid of taking the initiative. But as she could see Irso was perhaps trying to approach the subject first she listened to him with a small smile on her face, waiting for him to finish what he had to say. He found the right words, and Huilu's smile widened slightly.
"I'd be more than delighted to accompany you. Please wait a moment."
With that Huilu reached for a pocket on her blouse and pulled out a business card, that was dark blue and decorated appropriately in ice theme, since it was Huilu's greatest "selling point", as her patron put it. The card had the web address for a site where it could be seen where her art would be exhibited next time, and her professional email address. But before Huilu handed it to Irso she touched one of her ice fingers to the card, and dragged it along it. And as she did she formed a line of numbers, her personal phone number, that could be seen clearly against the dark blue.
"I will be awaiting for your call, or any other preferred way of contact. Personally I am partial to smoke signals."
Huilu chuckled, trying to joke a bit, and handed the little special business card to Irso. Well, smoke signals had a seed of truth behind them. When she had been a child Huilu's mother and her had had a habit of sending each other small messages in smoke signals, that only the two of them could understand. Those were nostalgic times.

Irso watched closely as Huliu worked her magic over the card. The curiosity over the motioned completely suppressed the joy his heart felt in gaining a new companion to chat with on the island. Not only was she smart but funny too prompting Irso to laugh at her joke of sending smoke signals to hail her. He had half a mind to do so as well though he was oblivious to the signals used by her people.

Irso had spent some time in his fair share of tribal communities to realize that smoke signals were almost as unique as the sounds of language. Maybe in their spare time, Huliu could teach him just what signals her people used. It was irrelevant in the grand scheme of their relationship but he couldn't pass up the chance to learn something new.

His mind was only pulled away from the thought when she handed him the card. He enjoyed the theme as he looked it over for a second, admiring the design. He looked back to her and gave a thankful smile before a second kitten crawled onto his free shoulder to take the card for him. Its coat was a bright purple and its eyes were as black as the sky. He even managed to make stars appear in them.

The blue kitten quickly opened its eyes and shot them over to his new neighbor. Before Irso could read the situation the kitten roared angrily at the violet kitten and in response the other hissed back at him as if it were a snake. The two went back and forth for a few seconds before Irso gave a small parental clap and the two stood neatly on his shoulders.

The pains of showing off. He hated to give commands to his creations, instead choosing to give them natures he found pleasing, but sometimes a heavy hand was needed.

"Sorry about that" his smile widen "I'll be sure to signal you early in the morning so just look at the sky from wherever you live. Here I may as well give you my number." Irso dug into his pocket and pulled out a business card of his own. It was his personal card for the Academy. It included his desk number and his personal cellphone number. He gave it to his students on occasion in the chance that they had an important question to ask him.

Handing Huliu the card he spoke " I'm usually busy during weekdays but if you call around 9 pm I'm most likely watching Law and Order so that'd be a good time to pull me away. Though feel free to text whenever."

Irso wasn't the only one showing off, Huilu had a small pen in her pocket as well but she indulged her ego and instead gave Irso a slightly more memorable business card.
Yet another cat appeared on Irso's shoulder, this one with a different colour scheme, and it took over the duty of guarding Huilu's business card. This made Huilu laugh, as she wondered if Irso was purely in need of carrying assistance or if he just wanted to show off like Huilu had.
The brief squabble between the two cats on Irso's shoulders attracted attention from the other symposium visitors, but there was not a scene as Irso was able to break up the fight quickly.

"No worries, conflict is natural between siblings."
Huilu chuckled at that, but the cats did look like siblings, and they were both created by Irso so that in a way made them related.
Irso went along with Huilu's little smoke signal joke, and proceeded to in turn give Huilu his business card. Huilu received it and saw, that Irso was a teacher. That was quite the coincidence, Huilu seemed to be encountering many teachers these days.
"I imagine your number is good insurance in case I happen to not see your signals."
There was no harm in continuing the joke a bit further, and at least it made Huilu smile.

As Irso explained at what time he would be available Huilu nodded.
"I will remember that. I am personally not familiar with that particular program, I hope I won't disturb your watching experience too much."
Huilu had been more concentrated on watching musicals, both classics like Sound of Music and modern like Pitch Perfect. Both were very interesting in their own way, though Huilu had to admit she enjoyed Sound of Music more. Art nouveau films were also fascinating.
"As I work from my home you can call me at any time, if I do not answer I am most likely in my workshop. I tend to get very immersed in my work."

Irso laughed at Huliu's concern over him ruining his time watching television. The show, and others like it, were entertaining for him to play in the background as he worked but he wouldn't ever choose it over good conversation. Being immersed in work was also something he understood well. Whether it be grading papers or simply taking notes on something he spotted while out and about Irso's free time was usually filled with some type of intellectual stimulant.

"I can imagine it takes a great focus to make such things." he gestured to the sculpture " If something of great importance ever comes up then just visit the campus and i'll be sure to have you granted entry. My room and office hours are also on the card."

As the last words left his lips Irso felt a strange sensation filled him. His eyes immediately darted to the left where from a distance he noticed a few people staring at the two cats on his shoulders. It couldn't have been that strange for a person to have strangely colored cats on their body right? Regardless Irso looked to the two of them and lifted his hands where they each placed their respective items.

He pocketed the card into his wallet and held the small replica in his hand closely. "Until we meet again Huliu" Irso bowed his head and in unison, the two cats bowed as well, paws together like a praying cat. "I'm almost worried none of the other pieces will be as entertaining." there was truth to his statement but he could tell from what others his eyes glanced walking in that there was far more to discover.

With one last smile, Irso would nod farewell to Huliu and make his way to one of the pieces he saw her staring at when he walked up to her. A small gathering had already formed on the artist so he would have to muse from afar and not ask too many questions. His cats didn't go unnoticed but Irso paid the looks no mind as the artist continued answering a previous question.

All the while in the back of his mind he was already missing the blue-haired marvel and beauty that was Huliu Ehr'Sha.
