Emotions have Wings

His eyes widened as they lifted into the air, the feeling was unlike anything he'd ever felt before. He looked down at the shrinking ground and then to the blue sky.

He gasped as he looked back down, "it's...it's beautiful." James had never been this high before, the highest he could ever get was the trees he'd climbed.

James held on tight as they flew, seeing the world below. "Thank you Anna." He'd been so grateful for everything she'd done for him.

Anna grinned, letting the thrill of flight fill her up, the joyful emotion flowing through her and into the boy on her back. She figured it wouldn't be as much of a shock to his feelings, since he was probably already feeling pretty good from the flight on his own. "Hang on tight," she warned him before gaining speed. She tucked in her wings and twisted her body, sending them into a barrel roll across the sky with a gleeful whoop.

Unfurling her wings, she shot upwards, her belly trembling with laughter as they climbed even higher before she dipped, like a roller coaster, and then did a few loops in the air before finally straightening out again, breathless and shaking with excitement. She couldn't keep the smile off of her face. She felt...full of life, and she shared that easily with her friend.

It was all beyond words, he'd never felt anything like it before. He smiled brightly as the joy flowed into him, mixing with the joy he was already feeling.

James found himself tightening his hold on Anna a bit in a hug, "thank you Anna," there weren't many people he was with giving physical affection.

He looked down at the world, marveling at how beautiful it all was. Then he caught sight of someone familiar, he smiled as as he saw the shine of those glowing eyes. Chuckling he waved at her, "Nyota!" he called our to her.

He laughed a bit and turned to Anna, "a friend of mine." He looked back toward Nyota, waiting to see her reaction to him flying.

Nyota sulked about as she made her way back to the dorms. Was it possible for summer to come sooner? She hated her remedial English class because it made her feel dumb and biology was leaving her anxious given that she totally flunked the last test. If her mom were to learn of this they would freak!

While she wasn't that sort of stereotypical asian parent, she knows that her grades would bring her bio-chemist mother into tears. And... what can she say to her? That she was screw up and that she wasn't as smart as her? She... she just needed to pass the class was all... so long as she can get an A or B on the final she has nothing to worry about... so... so why was she getting all antsy about it? She just... had to bank on aceing the final and continue doing mediocre in her homework and she would be set... right?

Nyota let out an annoyed gruff as she stomped her way as to the building when a familiar voice cried out to her. Naturally she looked around her but failed to find anyone. It was then she looked up and saw James... flying?

"What the hell? Since when could you fly!?" she cried out, she couldn't make out the figure of Anna carrying James and assumed that the dark wings were his.

She felt his arms tighten around her in a hug and she smiled. He was happy, and that made her happy, too. Anna liked to make her friends happy. She glanced down at the person walking along that James had called out to and started to circle the area, beating her wings against the wind to slow them down as they got closer to the ground.

"Okay. Landing is still a little tricky. It might be a bit rough," she told him as she aimed for the grass next to the sidewalk. She put on the brakes and dropped a couple of feet at a time, stopping their fall with her wings as best as she could. Once they were only about a foot from the ground, she tucked in her wings and let them drop all the way into the grass, bending her knees with the landing. "That wasn't too bad," she said, fairly satisfied with her work. She still had a lot of polishing to do, but she hadn't crashed and rolled like she'd done the first several times.

Anna smiled and waved to Nyota. "Hi, I'm Anna," she introduced herself brightly, her emotions still high from the flight. She was a little breathless, and her wings were trembling from the extra weight she'd had to carry with her. She let them droop onto the grass behind her while she caught her breath, trying to slow her pulse.

He chuckled as they landed, he gave Anna another hug before stepping back. He was a little disoriented from the flying, "that was amazing."

James turned to Nyota and gave his glowey eyed friend a wave, he was curious about how she was going to react. "Hi Nyota," he said laughing a bit.

He shifted his feet, readjusting to being on the ground again, "gods that was incredible," he laughed again and grinned. It was nice having a bit a fun to make his depression fade for a bit.

Nyota just stood there... dumbfounded. What she thought was Jame's wings were in fact the wings for some girl named Anna. Since when did these two become bestest pals? Were they dating? Since when did James start dating? What he heck was this girl even? Some fallen angel?

"Eerrr... Anna... right." spoke up Nyota, eyeing Anna with suspicion before looking back to James.

"Hey dork! Didn't expect to see you out here so late" she said in a far more friendly manner

"So... okey... what exactly is this suppose to be anyway? Are you a new friend of James that I don't know about or... are you two a thing?" pried Nyota, cocking an eyebrow to Anna "I mean... she's cute don't get me wrong its just... I am surprised by her sudden appearance is all. Not even sure what she is to be frank."

Anna's feathers ruffled and she furrowed her brow at the girl. She was certainly being...rude. James was so nice, she didn't expect that his friends would be anything but nice, too. She was still trying to catch her breath, but she put a hand on her hip. "Umm...she is standing right here and can hear you," she said, raising an eyebrow back at the other girl. Her face was flushed from being up in the air more than it was from her suggestion that she and James were dating.

"We're not...a thing. We're friends," she continued cautiously, and then added, "And I'm a siren. Are you normally this...curt?" It was clear that Anna was flustered with the way that Nyota was acting towards her. They'd just met, and already Anna wasn't sure if she liked the other girl very much.

James felt his face heat up as he blushed at Nyota's question, "no were not dating, she's a friend." He raised an eyebrow at Nyota, getting the sense that she was getting a little jealous. "We thought it'd be fun to go for a fly."

He looked between his two friends, "easy you two," the last few weeks had been a bit hard on his depression, the beach helped but he didn't want his friends fighting. "Uh...let's stay friendly."

He took a step forward making sure they both could see him. "Anyways, Anna this is Nyota a good friend of mine," most wouldn't guess it, bit James was actually really close to Nyota.

A siren? Didn't just have to tell off of those off things from facesucking James a couple weeks back or something on the beach? No wonder she looked gorgeous. James may have called her a friend but she couldn't help but be suspicious of her. After all, that angle put James in a sour mood when they broke up.

"Uh huh... well good to know your not deaf." quipped Nyota as she turned to face with Anna, hardly looking amused. She rested her right hand on her hip, unintentionally mimicking Anna, while her she rolled the left shoulder and what remained of her stump left arm. "And calm your tits... I was just asking because my friend here seems be some sort of chick magnet and I don't want to see him get hurt again by another girl is all. But hey... if you just friends then we are cool I guess."

After she gave her explanation, she narrowed her eyes to Anna. "And yes... I usually am this curt so either take it or leave it dork. Anyway, nice to meet you."
