Anna's feathers ruffled and she frowned at Nyota. She'd been playing nice with James's friend, with the good faith that she would receive the same treatment in return, but Nyota was just rude. Anna clearly looked hurt as she backed away and stared at James.

"I'm...just gonna go," she said quietly, turning away in a futile attempt to hide her discomfort. She was clearly upset. Anna's wings unfurled from her back and stretched out wide. "I'll see you later, James." Exhausted and in a bad mood now, she was done for the evening. She couldn't handle being treated like this.​

"Wait Anna.... don't go," he looked toward Nyota. He'd been hoping for his friends to get along, they both meant a lot to him. His eyes flashed with sadness and frustration, his emotions had been slowly falling apart as it is.

"Nyota...," he said, not angry really, just depressed, which was normal for him, though he'd been failing at hiding it anymore. "I know you're looking out for me...and it means a lot to me, but Anna has been really kind to me."

He was hoping to smooth things out, they were two of his best friends. They were both like sisters to him, like family. "I care about both of you."

Nyota watched as Anna flew off like some dark angel of the night. Was she really that thin-skinned that she flutter off at a few provocative words and a snarky attitude? Boy was in need of a wake-up call.

"Shheeehhh... did she really get upset over that? If she is really that sensitive then I can't wait to see how high school will chew her out." remarked Nyota as she turned to look to James. As she looked at him, she couldn't help but feel a little. Just something about his dumb sad looking face made her feel guilty even if she knew that she really didn't do anything! How was it her fault that miss fancy wings got her feathered ruffled!

"I... ugh... look... you know I got your back. You know I have every right to be suspicious of any new girl that comes into your life with a flaky personality. I'm sure she is nice girl but so was that Lila chick and... she fucking broke your heart. Not cool. Besides, I wasn't actively being mean to her or anything, I was just being me. If she has an issue with that its her own damn fault really. Fricking cowardly to just leave in mid conversation but... I will try not to let that cloud my judgement of her since you seem to care for her."

Nyota shifts her body posture, awkwardly rubbing her stump limb with her right hand as she let out a sigh. "Probably for the best she flew off when she did... just tend to drive just about everyone away... we both know that. I have piss poor people skill."

Signing, he pinched the bridge of his nose in frustration, "damnit...we just talked about this crap, how people shouldn't immediately think a guy and a girl are dating just because they hang out," he said remembering their trip to the beach. "And she's in college, so she's already been through high school."

He tilted his head, "I don't have the best people skills either." Sighing again he walked over to her, "you're my best friend, I am grateful for everything you do."

James smiled a bit, "I've been trying to be more social, you know." He shrugged, "that's how I got to know Anna." He did wish that had gone better, "you guys are the closest thing to family I have."

"Well... with women just throwing themselves I just... I just wanted to make sure okey?!" retorted Nyota, raising her voice as she speaks. Still, he did have a point, it was hypocritical to make such baseless assumptions. "Ughh... just... just whatever okey? Lets forget all of that noise. I should have not of said anything. Its not like me to get into gossip."

"Best friend still? Hee... I don't know how you have the patience for me sometimes but... well... I guess you just get me so... ehh... thanks. For putting up with my shit at times." remarked Nyota, putting on the faintest of smiles on her face. "And family you say? Thats incredibly sappy of you!" laughed Nyota before her expression suddenly becomes serious.

"Err...you know... speaking of family, my parents are going coming over soon and... well... I know they would love meet you. I mean... I know now was probably not the best time to mention this but I speak so highly of you in every other conversation I have with them that... well... they would be honored to meet you."

"There coming?" he said surprised, "I'd love to meet them." He'd heard a lot about them, he'd always been interested in what it was like to have parents, to have a family. "It'll be nice."

He'd wished things had gone better with the two meeting, but perhaps he'd be able to smooth things out later. For now, he'd enjoy just having such amazing friends, and maybe Nyota was right, maybe he did like Anna. He rarely understand his emotions, the bad always trying to weight him down, and the good always vanishing quickly, as if they had wings, but maybe through his fiends, he'd find balance.
