The last few days had been good, really good. He'd spent time with Anna and Klef and had even made some new friends.

He'd considered finally asking Klef out, but decided not to. His emotions were still confusing him, he liked her a lot, but he still struggled understanding himself at times.

Either way, the day was ending and he was spending the evening with Anna who seemed to want to talk. He suspected she knew about his feelings for Klef. They sat in her dorm, he had a calm smile on his face.

After what she'd seen at the beach and with a few days to mull it over - not to mention the time it took for her to go back to the hospital and get her bones fully healed by a special doctor - Anna had decided to have a little chat with her friend James. Sure, they were still fairly new as friends went, but Anna tended to attach to people fairly quickly, and she'd certainly done that with James. He was a sweet boy. She was like a younger brother to him, and she wanted him to be happy.

"So," she started, sitting cross-legged on her bed. "I noticed the other day at the beach that you really seemed to like that Klef girl. You do, don't you?" She grinned at him. Nothing got past her. Well...okay, admittedly, there were several things she ended up being oblivious to or that went over her head, but she knew a blossoming romance when she saw one. And oh boy, did she love a good romance.

James blinked in surprise as she jumped right into the subject of him and Klef. He opened his mouth about to deny it, then closed it when he found no words. Again he opened his mouth but in the end he just sighed.

"It...gods is it that obvious?" he asked feeling his cheeks heat up as he blushed. He shifted in his seat nervously, only one other person knew about his crush on her, "thought I was doing an ok job hiding it."

The Shadow broke down laughing in the back of his mind, and commented on how he would have been able to tell even without seeing his thoughts.

Anna laughed at his reaction. "I've learned that you're not very good at hiding things, James," she chided gently. "Of course it's obvious. Or maybe I'm just observant. We might have known each other for only a short time, but I do consider you a close friend, and I learn my friends' behaviors pretty quickly." She grinned at him. Anna had a knack for seeing what some other people didn't see, even though it was right there, lurking just beneath the surface.

"She's really pretty," she continued. "Are you going to ask her out? You guys seem to know each other pretty well, I'm kind of surprised you haven't yet." She fiddled with a blanket on her bed before grabbing it and pulling it over her shoulders like a cape. "I'll even help you. Super Wingman Anna!" She loved to see two people get together when they clearly liked each other. Or, at least, she knew that James liked Klef. She hadn't been so sure if she liked him back, but what was not to like about James, anyway? He was a sweet boy.

He looked down a bit, he disliked the idea of being easy to read. At one point he'd been good at hiding his emotions, but things had been changing and it was getting harder to hide things.

"Yea...," he smiled, "she's great," he chuckled a bit. "She's fun to be around....makes things seem brighter," he blushed and shifted in place when he realized what he was saying.

He laughed a bit, and smiled as she offered to help, but that smile quickly faded. "Don't think she feels the same way," his thoughts went to the incident at the museum, "and.. you saw...my emotions just seen..messed up. Maybe she deserves someone better."

Anna smiled and nodded as he spoke fondly of the girl, but her smile faded as he second-guessed himself. Her brow furrowed. "I don't think there's anything wrong with you. You just need to have more confidence in yourself, is all. You're a great guy. Look at all the things you did for me while I was in the hospital," she waved an arm. "Any girl would be lucky to have you, silly."

"Anyways, Klef wasn't the only reason I brought you here. I want to show you something," she jumped up and grabbed his wrist, being careful not to transfer any strong emotions into him as she did so, other than the tingle of excitement she felt for what she was about to show him. Pulling him from his seat and dragging him along, Anna departed from her room and headed up the stairs to the building's roof. The sun was setting. There was a light breeze. Perfect for what she was about to do.

"Okay. Watch," she released James and stepped away. Her arms folded over her stomach a little as the sick feeling passed through her. The spaces between her shoulder blades tingled with heat as a pair of huge black wings blossomed from her back. She'd remembered to wear something that wouldn't get in the way of her wings; it was a good thing she had plenty of halter top and backless or loose-fitting shirts to avoid ripping more holes in her clothes. She flapped her wings a few times, getting out the last of the tingling feeling. They were at least twice her size in length. She looked up at James and grinned.

He couldn't help but blush at her saying any girl would be lucky to be with him. In tended to have low self-esteem. "Thanks Anna," he said genuinely.

Raising an eyebrow but followed her, he didn't know what she could want to show him. The came into the roof, the breeze blowing through his hair, he often came up here.

His eyes widened as the wings appeared on his back, "wow...there amazing." Stepping close he gently touched the black feathers, "there beautiful." He grinned, "must be amazing being able to fly."

Anna shuddered a little at the sensation of having someone touch her wings. It was strange. She could feel with them, like they were just another set of limbs, and she could control them just as easily as it would be to control her arms and legs. She still wasn't entirely used to them, but she'd been practicing, just like with her powers. Daily or nightly flights had become a common occurrence.

"It is," she nodded. "It's like...nothing I've ever felt before. And I wanted to share it with you," she turned her back to him, angling her head so she could see him. "Hold onto me," she told him with a smile. "We're gonna go for a ride." She stretched her wings out wide and felt the breeze rustle through her feathers. She'd never gone up with someone on her back before, but she figured it wouldn't be too bad. Her wings were big and strong. She could easily carry another person with her.

"Sounds so amazing," he looked at her, "I've never even flown in a plane, let alone with wings."He was always fascinated with powers and magic, things he'd never thought would be possible.

He tilted his head, not really understanding at first. Then it hit him and he smiled, stepping close he wrapped his arms around her, blushing a bit. "Ok, let's uh...let's fly."

James took a big breath preparing himself for what came next. He had no idea how this was going to go.

Once he was safe and secure on her back, Anna gave a few test flaps. "Just don't let go," she reminded him, and then with a great beating of her wings, she pulled them off of the ground and up into the air. They climbed for a bit before Anna evened out, putting her body parallel to the ground. She angled into the wind. The world seemed to slow down up here. It was so peaceful.

"You can see everything from up here," Anna told him, looking down on the school grounds below. She shifted course to dive a little closer. "I especially like to fly at night, when the town in the distance is all lit up. It's so pretty."
