The wind blew through his fur as he flew, his eyes looking at everything below him. Virgil's dragon form was unique to say the least, elements of a cat, a bat, a bird and a lizard thrown together, beautiful but intimidating in its own way. He could see the school roof coming up, pulling up a bit, he landed gracefully on it, seeing a girl out of the corner of his eye as he did.

Turning he looked down at her, he stood about seven feet tall, his eyes piercing and intense. A thoughtful hum came from him, his beaked nose filling with her scent, a human. "Yo," he said, a simple greeting. Focusing, he shifted down into his human form, with his short blood red hair and glowing emerald eyes.

His eyes looked her up and down quickly, she seemed around his age, maybe a little older. @Ashes

The worst thing about the island, she'd come to realize?
The people.
Ugh.
All of them had such flashy powers, like shifting and breathing fire and being all macho. There wasn't any appreciation for anything else, so long as you could burn a house down yourself. Not that R couldn't - no, she had, once - but that had been messy as all hell. Where was the appreciation for the dark things, the little things? The little people?
They'd see soon, of course. But for now, she'd try not to get arrested. Who had time to be arrested anyway?
She pulled one of the few cigarettes she had left from out of her coat pocket, and brought it to her lips, forgetting she had no lighter (damn her for forgetting it in her dorm!). It was still therapeutic to pretend, though. And plus, if people saw she was a smoker - well, they'd leave her alone.
Speak of the devil, apparently - because as soon as she thought that, she spotted a rather large, furry... lizard? Bird? ....Bat? Thing? - fly through the sky nearby, landing practically right next to her, around the corner. Wait for it... wait for -
Yep. He'd shifted back into a human, just as she'd expected. Half the damn people on this island could shift into something.
Nevertheless, those glowing green eyes - even thinking the phrase made her hold in a laugh - found her. Her honey-colored ones gave him a once over. Seven-foot-something. Bloodred hair. Piercing green eyes. Probably giving her own comparably tiny form a once-over as well. That was fine with R. He looked to be a bit younger in human form than she was. Maybe a high-school sophomore?
"Yo."
"Yo," she shot back coolly, giving him a sharp but somehow worldly glance. "Got a light?"

He tilted his head curiously, honey colored eyes, definitely had a different air about her than most of the humans he'd interacted with. Without saying a word he pulled a lighter from his pocket and let it, holding the flame out to her. The young man's returned her sharp look, intelligent, stunning and a little intense, "up here alone are we," he said, his English accent light and pleasant.

The young dragon was new to the island, having been born and raised in England he hadn't really visited. To busy either running around the streets of London finding trouble or visiting his mom's dig sites. "Virgil," he said, introducing himself to the mystery girl, she was officially the first person here he'd really met outside of his cousins.

His mind was already working, intelligent and advanced, he was always thinking of something. In this case her, she came of as intelligent despite not having said much, he could see it in her uniquely colored eyes. Yes, she could be interesting.

"No. There are a billion people here, obviously." She gestured to the empty, deserted space around them. A smirk, as she leaned back on the wall, fishing out her cigarette from her pocket. For once, she was thankful for the other person she'd met on the roof - Murphy's cigarettes, although a bit beat-up, were of good quality. Well, to her, anyway. R took the chance to light her cigarette off of the guy's lighter, and seemed to sit there, just contemplating the cool November evening.
After a few seconds - and a namedrop as to who the guy was - she turned her head lazily towards Virgil. "R," she greeted.
"There's a rest of the name, but if I told you, you'd probably end up on the front pages of the newspaper in a body bag."
A slick grin, as she analyzed his appearance some more. English accent - came from England proper, probably. No matter how light it was, there was that little hint that always told what accent a person had. The look he'd given her was intelligent (stunningly) and a little intense for maybe a three-second glance, but it was okay. Because she saw fire in those eyes. Either a rival or an ally... or a friend?
No, preposterous.
She could tell he was smart, though. Maybe not as smart as, say, Capone or Einstein or any other science person, but smart. She could almost see the cogs in his brain turning, thinking.
Yes, he could be interesting.

He returned the grin, though his was smaller more muted, "unlikely," he could kill her with his mind if he wanted to, literal psychic blasts. "Also it'd be easy to find it out if I wanted," he started, his eyes never losing their shine, "school documents, easy enough to get a peak at, plus there's always that one teacher who refuses to use nicknames," it wasn't a threat, not all, his voice was calm, he was merely stating facts.

"That said," he took a step to the side, his eyes locking with hers, "you don't need names to figure out a bit about a person." His head tilted to the other side, "you're intelligent, I can tell that much, you're eyes are a unique color, honey, never seen it before lovely." Yes, he was smart, "then there's the question of why you're up here, now me, I fly, I land and I take off from here, and occasionally come up here to get away from the noise," the cogs turned, gears moving the machine along, "but you don't fly, wouldn't have looked at my dragon form like you did if you could fly." Oh this was fun, "so, you're likely up here to get away from people."

Virgil stepped a bit closer, "cigarette up here, school property, shows you don't really care for rules." A delinquent he guessed, he'd often been drawn to trouble makers, "so we have someone who probably doesn't care for people and doesn't care for the rules they make."

"I didn't say that it wouldn't be easy - just that you'd end up in a body bag." R shot a toothy smirk at him. It'd been a long time since someone with a brain had talked to her. Well, and Murphy, but that was justifiable.
While he essentially psychoanalyzed her, she only sat there, contemplating and analyzing him as well. Obviously he was smart; the flattery and the subtle hint at a threat, plus the fact that he was literally analyzing her as she thought, proved that. Trying to be charming (the flattery) - and the context clues implied he must have been a hit back in... what was it? Somewhere in England, if the accent was anything to go by. And by the sound of it, he was really enjoying playing psychiatrist.
"Flattery will get you everywhere, I guess." She took a drag on her cigarette, the smoke filling the cool air of the evening. "Congratulations on passing the psych test."
Ah, sarcasm.
"You come up here to get away, don't you?" R asked casually.

"Flattery gets you some places, if it gets you everywhere, then those places are probably not worth getting to," oh yes, smart, intelligence beyond his age, "things worth having, places worth going, there very rarely easy to get." In truth he didn't have a lot of goals at the moment, no real ambition, but he knew what it all meant, what is should mean, the accomplishment of gaining what you want. He'd said it all with a bit of sarcasm, but they were smart words.

His glowing eyes looked her up and down again, yes she'd caught his interest, he wanted to see how long she could keep it. "What is that you want?" he asked flashing a grin, "surely something that takes more than just a bit of flattery."

The young dragon's nose twitched, so many scents in the air, from the people below, from the cigarette and from her, "sometimes yes, to get away from the noise usually." An unfortunate side affect of having such a powerful mind, waa chronic headaches and migraines, "when it gets to noisy for me, I come here, enjoy the quiet, and watch the people below." Internet and observant, not much got by him, especially important details.

"Might be true," she lamented, leaning back against the wall, "but people try. Why do you think flattery and money exist?" It was true, wasn't it? Money and flattery - the two tricks that helped get a guard down. Of course, there was also just outright threatening them, but damned if that worked.
"If you're so inclined as to ask what I want, then, sure. I want to become a banker. Or a mob boss. A businesswoman. Flattery might not take you all the way there, but it'll get you at least partway." Funny how that was, actually.
She could tell - she'd caught his interest, and he had caught hers. But she wasn't really concerned with people, really. Not even tall ones, or ones with green eyes. R rolled her eyes, and let out a bitter sound, somewhere between a laugh and a scoff. "You won't find true quiet anywhere. People as a whole are larger than life. They never shut up. Even here - you were expecting quiet, but you were handed trouble on a silver platter."
"Do you smoke?"

"Reaching high are we?" he said as she stated her goals, his dad was a businessman, something he'd personally has very little interest in. "Higher you climb, the more a fall will hurt," yes, he was enjoying this conversation, "you'll have more to lose, things others might want to gain," there would always be those who wanted the crown, who'd overthrow others for power.

"Odd, travel across the world and I'm still bumping into trouble," he said with a small chuckle, he'd found plenty of it on the streets of London, "always popping up, presenting itself, gotta to wonder why that is." Perhaps he was drawn to trouble, or maybe it was drawn to him, either way, here he was.

"Once in a while I'll have a smoke," it wasn't an addiction for him, or even a habit, the company he'd kept back home just often smoked, so he occasionally did with them.

"There's no 'we' in success," R commented simply, playing with the cigarette in her hands. "I don't intend to have anyone take that away from me." It was that simple, wasn't it?
Don't let anyone close, and no one will hurt you.
"Well, then, you must draw it like a magnet," she replied, giving Virgil a slight smirk. "Sometimes that's not a bad thing, hm? Good deeds can only take you so far. If you truly want to do anything, rules are your enemy."
Another quiet puff of her cigarette.
"You want one?"
