Delaney wasn't really feeling the party mood. She was happy when Hector invited her, but she agreed mostly because she didn't want to disappoint him. Yeah, that was a dumb thing to think but she was scared. Scared that if she let him down then maybe he won't like her as much. It was so dumb, and yet the feeling nagged her.
She sat in a chair on the beach, Georgette's head resting on her leg. The poodle could sense Dela's down-in-the-pits mood and was in full comfort mode. Delaney scratched between her ears. She decided that she's really going to talk to Hector this time about what's going on with her siblings. She tried before but chickened out at the last second. If she opened up then maybe she wouldn't have all these stupid thoughts.
It stung. It stung like wasp sting on a bad sunburn on a rash. She loved Clem and Maddie, how could they turn on her like this? Did she deserve it? Delaney sunk in her chair and now had second thoughts about telling Hector. Wasn't this peachy.
