It would be weird of Cairo to say that this was his first time being nice to someone. What he meant was being nice to people with no other motive than to be nice. It was odd for him, a foreign exchange that he was taking part of. He had met this man a few times beforehand, giving him gentle winks or subjective looks from time to time, but there was never any real spark. His number had been given to the man the last time they met, as a promise to take him out for some food if he ever called. It took a long period of time before a reply was heard, which was met with a mediocre 'okay sure'. Though it wasn't the answer he wanted to hear, it was enough to get a smile on his face. After telling Jericho of his news, he was treated to a few well placed kisses before heading out the door. It was nothing fancy, but he had asked him to go to a small diner around 4pm so that they could have a rather somber meal with one another, no strings attached.

Desmond was doing the usual. Dumpster diving and all other stuff hobos usually do before he had sent that text to that guy. Honestly he really didn't care for what this dude's motives were as he saw free food as free food and so here he was.
Actually Desmond arrived at most thirty minutes late. He sorta got high for a bit and then got lost and then found himself standing in front of the diner not even one hundred percent sure how he got there. In truth this was lowkey a test of patience for this guy. Desmond had to at least try to figure out somethings and maybe a reason for why this dude was being all nice to him....other than being a hobo.
Des walked around to look for the guy who was so kindly to take him out on this...date? It could technically be described as a date but kinda not really. He was only here because free food with little to no interest in knowing Cairo.
Nevertheless he put on his usual bright smile and waved to Cairo when he spotted him. "Suuuh Dude! Id like to say thank you in advance for the food." And where was the apology for being late? Nope none at all.
Desmond walked to the entrance and opened the door for Cairo and did somewhat of a mockingly bow. "After you my good sir~" There was slight sarcasm in his voice as he did this.

Right now he was thinking how long was this going to become a disaster.

Cairo felt all icky. He was waiting on someone that he didn't feel like he needed to. There was no feelings between them, nothing that they had in common either. it seemed that this was more so mutually agreed upon toleration. This was a bit outrageous though, that this man would go to the lengths of almost making Cairo feel like he was being stood up! He was late, and not a fashionably late that Cairo would have respected. He had offered him free food, but this was all that he was getting in return, a hurtful heart and way too many things to worry about.

This is what he got for being nice to just anyone, especially someone that didn't seem to want to have anything to do with him. The man felt stupid, like a waste of space and air. When they finally did made eye contact, the look in Cairo's was a rather spicy one, like he was a ghost pepper on the verge of burning someone's mouth. Not impressed. "Hi, sure." The man sighed out, trying to keep his cool as the steps beneath him became lazy. His smile was fabricated as they went into the diner, as un-gleeful that he had ever been while going on a date. "Reserved table for two, by the window as requested." He ushered Desmond in front of him, wanting to be polite and let the other man pick his spot at the 2 seated table. He sat, taking off his coat and placing it on his feet. "So, why'd you accept me so easily? The promise of food?"

Desmond walked in the place still keep that goof smile on his face as he entered. He took one of the seats at the tables. Desmond removed his hoodie and just grinned at Cairo. He could answer this in several ways but he went with the simplest one. "Of course it was the free food dude. I mean I don't really know you anyway" He gave a shrug and leaned back in his seat.

"So why me hm? I haven't done anything to actually gain a person's interest." Usually he would just pull out a blunt but he was low on weed and needed to conserve the goods. "Just being a good ol nice civilian helping the poor homeless guy out? Needed to a good deed for the week or something?" He slouched down in his seat as he then picked up a menu to examine the colorful pictures of the food. He was practically drooling as he looked at them before quickly snapping back to reality. His blue eyes then peered over the top of the menu to stare at Cairo for a brief moment before continuing to look at the menu. Yes there was some lowkey judging coming from them.

Desmond closed his menu and placed it down back on the table. "I mean I'm not really sure what you are trying to get out of this?"

"Mhm." It was the obvious answer. Of course Desmond wouldn't actually want to go out for any other reason than to get food. Who wouldn't though, considering the handsome man was paying for whatever the other man wanted. "I just, well yeah a bit. I want to be nicer and not get into everyone's pants. It's a problem of mine, if that wasn't obvious." His eyes closed for a second, thinking if he should have shared such information. Oh well, too late. "You seemed like you needed someone to extend a hand to you, rather than calling you gross and unwanted." He picked up the menu, looking at the appetizers, as he wasn't all that hungry. "I guess, I'm trying to see if helping people is worth it or not."

"Oh trying to be nicer?" He said with a grin. Well it wasn't like Desmond was doing the same thing it was he took a different approach on being nice. "So you are going to go around being nice to complete strangers huh?"

Yes, Desmond was becoming amused with this conversation. "Okay so you don't want to get in my pants. Alright well dude aren't you going to ask me questions like a proper date?" Well he was probably cheesing hard right now. Big smile and all. "The gross and unwanted doesn't bother me as much you know. I mean those are compliments compared to some of the other homeless people I know."

"So Cairo why are you trying to be nice? To prove someone wrong or do you want to do it because you realized you was not nice and probably terrible yourself?"

"If you want to call it that, I suppose." Cairo didn't see them as complete strangers, but he could understand why. It's not like they knew anything about one another, right? Cairo leaned his elbows on the table, eyeing up Desmond. What was his angle? Was this just utterly amusing to see someone as self centered as him trying to help others?

"I just assumed that you would be more interested in eating or thinking about eating but yeah, sure." He shrugged, thinking up a question. "Um, where do you like to go for your free time?" It wasn't his finest question, but it would do. "I guess, a bit of both?" Cairo thought of Jericho made him flush a bit, knowing that he was doing this for him mostly. "I know I need to, not be such a dick. Especially now that I have someone that I want to, see me in a good light?" Hopefully that made sense.

Hmm. Taking a bit too long to take our orders. You can't blame him for being impatient. He seriously didn't eat all day and was in dire need in food. Was he going to tell good ol Cairo here? Nope not at all. It was unneeded information to share at the moment. Desmond tapped his fingers repeatedly against the table as he listened to Cairo. "You are right!" he chuckled "I am definitely more interested in eating however I wouldn't mind talking." Well what he meant was Cairo does most of the talking and he'd sit there and listen and give a occasionally reply to make himself seem really engaged in the conversation.

Desmond glanced over Cairo when he asked him a question. "Spare time? I guess places where there are a lot of people are. I like sticking to the background and watching others really." It may sound boring to some people but for Desmond, watching people was like watching TV! "So for instance the rich couple waaaay to the right of us. " He said not pointing or even looking towards the direction. "I mean I can read lips and will repeat what they are saying."

Well he definitely knew how to read lips that was for sure. He looked over to the group of divas and began to talk in what would be a very bubbly feminine voice. "Like...oh my gawd Caitlin, did you see Jessica's purse? It was total fab~" he snickered a bit forgetting where he was for a moment.

He then vaguely gestured to some loner guy sitting in a both. "Other than lip reading I try to read a person body movements and figure out stuff about them? Like.." He eyed the loner guy and watched him for a few seconds. "He got stood up. He keeps looking at his phone every other second as if expecting something and he was here way before us and haven't even touched his drink. Plus he sent the waiter away three times." Desmond had a very smug and almost proud, amused like look on his face. "But enough about me...please continue on."

So Cairo explained things about why he was doing this and it was sorta what Desmond had assumed. "That's nice. Trying to change yourself for a lover or something and for yourself. So far you are doing a pretty good job on the nice guy thing then." Yes it was a compliment and not the usual sarcasm.

"Talking's fine, even if I'm blabbering on about whatever the fuck, it's fine." Cairo only smirked at Desmond, before sighing at how long his stomach grumbled. He wanted food, not this awkwardness. Oh, people watching, that was always fun indeed. "Oh, sure." He kept his eyes on Desmond, interested to see how this was going to play out. You could say that he took the man's lip reading as a bit too funny. He started off snickering too, before that turned into a hoot fit of laughter. He got many weird looks for the seconds that it lasted, before he was able to calm himself and retrain the will to cry out again.

The person that Desmond motioned to did seem to have been stood up. He looked to, weary; he knew that face. He had been the opposite of that so many times, as he had countlessly stood up people in the past. Poor guy. "That's cool though, I don't think I'm that good at such things. I do have to say that I'm good at body language when it deals with interest, at least sometimes." He finished, taking a sigh of relief that his work was at least paying off a bit. "Well, I just want to become better, not as much as what I have always been. I'm just glad you agreed." He smirked, looking to his left as their waiter finally showed up. 'Hello there! I'm Tracy, your waiter today. May I get you something to drink? Are you ready to order?'

He could have went on and on all day with this people watching and bad lip reading antics, heck that's what he does for entertainment since he can't really fit a good working tv into the van. If it wasn't noticeable by now, he had completely zoned out. It was just until Cairo said something he realized that he was in a resturaunt. "Yeah...." pretty much only caught the last of whatever he said. If anything Desmond can blame being high for zoning out.

"Mm. You can talk about whatever you want my dude.I'm totally a really good listener. Kinda have to be because muh job." Plus lowkey eavesdropping on random people on the street. There are some interesting and very funny things a person can hear on the street. "So go ahead gossip, talk, sing, or whatever you want. You have eighty five percent of my attention."

Desmond gave Cairo a look and then slowly tilted his head. "You can read body language hm?" He slowly sat up a bit but was still slouching. "So care to read mines? Tell me what you see!" Other than slouchy lazyness, Desmond wanted to know if Cairo could read anything else on him. Desmond was just generally curious.

Thank god for the waiter coming. He was not going to last much longer from this hunger. Desmond decided to let Cairo order first as it just felt right and he was very unsure of what he wanted. Now he could order a shit ton of food and just test how much he could get but, meh. Another time maybe. Once Cairo was done with his order Desmond was pretty much decided on what he wanted. "I'd like for my drink to be coke. What I want to eat is um....just a bunch of fries. Like a lot of fries I guess make them fully loaded if you guys do that here?" Yep a coke and some fries. Sounds like a good dinner to him.
