Distraction

Ariella wanted to be outside, playing in the snow or taking a walk, or atleast doing anything but work in the library. But, unfortunately, she'd put off doing this assignment until she couldn't anymore, since it was due tommorrow, and now she was sitting in the table in the corner, closest to the window, wishing she could be outside, but knowing she should've been concentrating on the stack of books in front of her.

She wasn't even sure if she was doing the work on the right thing, she knew she should be researching a War, though which one it was she had forgotten. Oh well, it was better than not doing the work at all. Ari flipped through the pages of the book, bored, and then snapped it shut and dropped her pen on the table.

Standing up, Ariella went to return the book to its shelf. She bit her lip and shoved the book into a random spot, unsure of where she had gotten it at first, then restlessly walked through the library. Finally, Ariella turned to walk back to her table, though hoping for something, or someone, to distract her from the work. And as she reached the table she'd been sitting at, she heard a voice.

"Hi!" Chadra said with a bright smile to the girl. "Were you sitting here? 'Cause if so, I can move." She had just propped her book, a biography on C.S Lewis, open in front of her, and taken out paper and a pencil to take notes.

Ariella quickly shook her head, "No! It's really okay!" she replied, dropping into the seat across from Chadra and picking up her pen, but not resuming her work on the paper. Instead she said in a conversational tone, "I'm Ariella, what's you name?" She hoped this girl had as much work as she did, because she really wanted some company.

After a moment, she went on to ask, "So what are you working on." Ariella glanced at the title of the book, it was a biography of CS Lewis. "CS Lewis huh?"

Chadra sighed. "I have to write a paper on him. I guess he had an interesting life, but still, I'd rather not do all the work." She nodded to the stack of books on the table. "What about you?"

Ariella glanced down at her paper, and it took her a second to remember what she was working on, "Oh some paper or something on some War, Im not seally sure which," she replied, with a laugh, even though she realized that sounded really stupid.

She looked outside, "I wish I could like play in the snow or something, but thats what I get for waiting till the last minute," she smiled, rolling her eyes and drumming her pen on the table, boredly. She opened a book on some civil war in a foreign country, and began scribbling a few lines from it.

Chadra laughed. "No joke...I'm just about finished, want some help?" She finished writing, and put her notebook away. Now she just needed to polish it up.
