When Astraea mentioned the Rider Waite tarot cards deck, Natasha brightened visibly. Now that she knew about, and a lot. She used to read cards for everyone back in the days of Catherine the Great. Her original deck, the one she learned her craft with, was the Tarocco Siciliano.

"I can actually help you with that. I used to read tarot cards." Natasha said with a grin. "My first deck wasn't the Rider Waite, but I have used it, and in a way all decks are similar. You just need to hear, or even feel, what the cards have to say, and the symbolism in that deck is just amazing. It just takes patience and practice." she said looking at the young girl and her brother.

"Do you have the deck with you?" she asked curiously, wondering which version, year it was, and if it was one of the very rare original decks.

" I don't tend to carry it with me. I've never felt connected with it. I don't know why. "

Conal looked around the shop they were in. "This place might sell cards. Maybe you could find a deck you connect with better. I'm not suggesting getting rid of
Mom's cards, just that you might be able to read a different deck better."

Astraea nodded. "Maybe." She looked at Natasha, "Is that something you could help me with?"

When Astraea said she wasn't comfortable with her mother's cards, Natasha nodded in understanding. She knew exactly what the girl meant. Some decks felt wrong, or had a strange vibe, like they didn't want to be used by certain people. Some people, like Natasha, even believed decks chose their owners.

"I get that." she said with a tiny nod as she looked at Astraea, then smiled at her question, "Of course, I can. Did you have something in mind?" Natasha asked as she looked over towards the tarot section of the shop.

"How about you, Conal?" she asked him very suddenly, wondering if he had any interest in magic or the tarot deck.

Astraea shook her head. "I haven't really thought about it. I've never really looked at other decks, so I don't know what the options are."

Conal shook his head at the question directed his way. "I've never had interest in predicting the future."

Astraea gave her twin a look.

"I know it isn't really telling the future. That it's more complicated than that. But I don't want people to come to me thinking that I can tell them their futures. That just sounds like an unpleasant mess."

"That's okay, all tarot decks are basically the same." Natasha said as she lightly brushed a lock of hair out of her face, "The cards have the same meanings whether you use the Rider Waite or the Tarocco Siciliano, just the images or pictures change from deck to deck." Natasha explained understanding the girl's hesitation.

Natasha glanced at Astraea's brother as he talked and nodded, knowing exactly what he meant, "People often want answers to problems that are beyond their ability to control. It has always been that way, I'm afraid." she said thinking back to her days at the Catherine the Great's court and all the men and women who came to her after a night of fortune telling and fun readings to see if she could help them with their problems.

Astraea nodded and slowly began looking for the tarot section of the shop, hoping she wasn't being rude.

Conal nodded. "People also like being able to blame someone else when things go wrong in their lives, instead of owning up to their own mistakes. I don't really want people to come to me because they blame me for whatever problems may arise after getting a reading from me." After saying that he began following his sister, moving at her pace.

Natasha watched as Astraea started browsing the aisles. She understood the enchantment of the shop. It was definitely a place full of amazing things.

"Well, I can't ever say that I've had people blame me for a reading... since quite truthfully, people usually interpret their readings the best - or worst - way they want, "Natasha said with a shrug, not offended by his view of things.

Astraea wandered the shop until she found the tarot section. There she looked at the various decks, not really sure what she was looking for.

Conal followed behind his sister. He looked at Natasha and spoke softly, "I've seen people get upset with my sister over readings either because they didn't like what she said or because they didn't like whatever happened in their lives after they got their readings. She even told them that nothing is certain."

Astraea kept looking at the cards and thought to her twin, I can hear you. And why are you telling her that? You know they were upset because I had to rely on the book for the readings.

Natasha looked at Conal when he spoke and frowned a little, "Sometimes people take things a little too seriously. Tarot readings, like any form of fortune telling, depends on things not deviating, even slightly, from the course one's on at the time of the reading - which makes most reading uncertain and just a glimpse of what could happen," she said as they followed behind Astraea.

After hearing Astraea clarify the situation, Natasha now clearly understood what had happened, and how some people might think she wasn't giving them a proper reading. Which she knew wasn't necessarily the case.
