Pogo does not seem to mind the petting but -does- bite the man, drawing a few drops of blood (if he had any?). Joanna puts the tray aside, giving the man a dark look, "Want to find out?" She knew that she -could- indeed turn humans to gold, but it was -very- hard to return them to normal states. Or so she guessed, as she had never actually -tried- it.

"I can turn anything to gold, to my knowledge." She folds her hands in her lap, "The larger the item, the longer it takes, the more energy it requires." she looks to him suddenly.

"Some people -would- kill for something like this so I prefer you keep you pretty little mouth firmly shut." her eyes narrow and she takes on a scary look again.

He reflexively drew his hand back when Pogo bit him and frowned at his bleeding finger. "Unfortunate." Was all that he had to declare before sticking his finger in his mouth and sucking on it. He simply shrugged at her when she asked him if he wanted to find out. The real question was is if it would even work on him. Since it was likely considered a polymorph effect - that is, the properties of one substance were changed to another property - his mortal body would probably succumb to it but return to normal over a period of time. Part of him wanted to try it just to see how it would work but since he wasn't sure how long it would take to recover - it could be days for all he knew - he didn't want to take the risk. Especially because he didn't know how well a turned-to-gold body could contain the soul of a Divine being. Being ejected out of his body would not be a good thing.

"Fascinating." He said a few seconds later, taking his finger out of his mouth. If she was observant enough, she might notice it wasn't bleeding anymore. "Have you not considered selling the gold you make for a life of... erm, luxury?" While the question was worded in a somewhat greedy way, his voice was sincere enough that hopefully she wouldn't assume he asked it out of greed, rather out of curiosity. It was, after all, human nature to take advantage of such situations. Even if she looked at her ability as a curse, surely she would have used it to her advantage first. He was rather curious as to why she sat here on the roof of a school with him rather than in a mansion.

However, this was also a being whose first thought when it came to having such an ability was, "how may I best help out others with this gift I have been given?".

Joanna eyes his finger, brow raising, "I did." She looks out over the land, her face twisting into a sorrowful grimace, "I tried, rather. But really, where would I go if I were not here? There is no countryside nor city where I can hide myself behind enough walls and cameras and guards to be safe. I would become paranoid and anxious. I would slip up, and then be seen as a monster, and animal. Animals get put down, you know." She reaches up to gently pet Pogo, frowning.

"I was not made for a life of luxury, or one of servitude. Rather, I am a watcher. I don't do things for others, just as they do nothing for me. The world is not altruistic, so why should I be?"

"The world doesn't deserve my help. Just as I don't deserve its."

He stayed silent for a few moments as he listened to her words. She wasn't the first - and likely not the last - person he had ever met that had shared the same logic. But there was a rather large flaw in her logic that he couldn't help but point out. "How is it you know what purpose you have in this world? Has the One who has created you told you Himself? Perhaps your purpose has just not yet been revealed to you." He crossed his arms and looked up as if in thought, then turned around and began pacing back and forth.

"Indeed, you so easily judge the world to be undeserving of your assistance. If you view it in such a way, then of course you are undeserving of its assistance. But does your line of thinking not promote an unending cycle? To enact revenge on those who have wronged you does nothing to help the world but create more pain. Pain cannot end pain." He stopped now, and turned to her. "Could you not be one to break the cycle?" Of course, he certainly didn't mean make things gold and let people sell them for money. There were so many flaws with that idea it was ridiculous. For one, the value of gold would go down.

"I'm waiting for a purpose. Until then, I'm here. I don't want a purpose, anyways. To have a purpose is to have more things to clog your mind. The more your mind gets clogged, the more you try to juggle it all. And if one happens to slip-- poof. Whatever you're holding, whatever you're doing turns to gold. And you won't get that window of opportunity back." she sounds more and more venomous as she speaks, and now she felt rather agitated.

"Life is an unending cycle. What could I do for the world? Give the poor money? Create a new currency? Destroy the foundation of this oh-so-glorious country we happen to inhabit?" She stops petting Pogo, fearing she might hurt him.

"No, I'd prefer to sit and watch these misfits try and do something with their lives. And try to solve the mystery lurking over my own." she stretches casually.

"You can do whatever it is you wish, m'lady. However, sometimes the small things make the biggest of differences. It is unlikely any more than 1% of the human population today will truly be remembered hundreds of years from now. But does that make their lives irrelevant? Would they have been better off not existing at all? Perhaps ones purpose in life does not in fact become revealed on its own. Perhaps said purpose must be found." He seemed to be rather enjoying himself, for whatever reason. The truth was he enjoyed talking about such philosophical things, and always welcomed new viewpoints on the subject.

He sat down and leaned against the barrier meant to keep people from falling over the edge of the roof. His stomach growled a bit and and he frowned, but other than that didn't seem to pay it much heed. He had just eaten a very large meal three hours ago and was already getting very hungry again. He knew it wouldn't be very long before people started recognizing him and wondering what he was doing that made him so hungry all the time. Then they would ask him questions and he would need to find excuses for it. How unfortunate.

"Well, up to this point, it seems I'm very bad at finding things." She glares at him from the side of her eyes, "And why are you so -peppy-? It's itching my last nerve."

Joanna smirks, "And it seems you're bad at finding things, too." she says as she hears the angry growl of a hungry stomach. She studies the back of his head with another deep frown, the lines on her face showing her discomfort.

"What makes you think everyone has a purpose? Are you one of those people who think there's good in everyone?" She crosses her arms, her nails tapping fast on her clothed arm. Pogo squeaks.

"Is there not a reason to be happy?" He looked up atPerhaps you should spend less time finding excuses for not carrying positive feelings, and more time finding reasons to not carry negative feelings, no? Those who believe there is no reason to be happy are the same ones who refuse to even look for a reason. I assure you, those reasons are much more plentiful than you imagine them to be. " He simply ignored her question about not being able to find food. He decided it would be rather troublesome to explain how often he needed to eat, and since she didn't seem interested in him in the first place he would rather not aggravate her more with details of his own self.

"Everyone indeed has good in them, friend. It is simply unfortunate that some choose to not seek it. Or perhaps they feel that the good in them is a weakness. Indeed, it is a folly of mankind to believe that their own power is the key to living a fulfilling life. But I ask you, if you truly use your own power to get through life, what is it you hug your family and friends with?" He smiled sincerely.
