The library sounded like a welcome change from the frigid December air that waited outside. Wandering the halls, Ania had never gone to the library, and had gotten quite lost. She thought about trying to ask someone for directions, but chickened out the moment a body approached her. Bumping into dead ends and fruitless rooms, Ania had nearly given up when she saw the sign that pointed her in the right direction. Paying closer attention to her surroundings, Ania eventually made it to her destination. Taking a deep breath, her mind was overcome with the peace that surrounded a library. The only sounds she could catch were the rusting of pages and a faint cough every now and then. Losing herself in the aisles of the shelves, Ania ran her fingertips over the spines of the books, delighting in the different textures that each one possessed.

She stopped on a title that caught her eye, 'Dear Life,' it read. Picking it up, she thumbed through the pages before hugging it carefully to her chest. Browsing the rest of the selection absentmindedly, she had not noticed when a librarian had approached her. He asked her if she needed help finding anything, and her breath caught in surprise. Turning around quickly, Ania gave an embarrassed smile and watched with relief as he drifted away. Exhaling, she turned once more to the shelves, quickly picking out a couple more books to look at. Emerging from the safety of the wall of books, Ania saw that most tables were either full or half full. Not wanting to disturb them, Ania made herself comfortable, pressed into a corner against a shelf. Looking around, it didn't seem that anyone was heading for this particular section. Opening one of her books, Ania lost herself in the pages.

<div align=center>He should have studied, how could he have forgotten about this? How could he have ignored all the warnings he had been given. Don't forget to study, Hadrian! He had heard those words hundreds of times this week, they had gone in one ear and straight out the other. He seldom studied for History exams, he never had to, he would merely send himself back to watch things actually happen, but time travel was costly, if he went back then he would sleep for the next three days, time travel was physically draining, especially when you had to go back as far as Roman times, he couldn't help feeling irritated with himself, he would end up missing the exam if he time travelled today.

He had no choice but to study, at least it's interesting. Although Hadrian thought it would be much funner to watch lions eat Christians for real, or watch the gladiators dash each other to pieces, as grisly as that sounded, it would be more exciting than being cooped up in a stuffy room and forced to be quiet. Though someone caught his eye as he took the book he had been looking for from the shelf, a girl, shorter than himself and with an incredibly fair face, he hadn't seen her before.</div>

Her eyes had grown rather hot from staring at the page for so long. Her concentration was broken when she heard shuffling in her immediate vicinity. Blinking rapidly to clear her head, Ania took a quick glance upward and saw an unfamiliar person looking at her. Her head ducked back down quickly and she stared at the page without seeing anything. Why was he looking at her? Did she look funny? Was she not supposed to be in this spot? A million thoughts ran through her head and she snuck another peek at the person. It looked like he had blonde hair, and was a bit unkempt. On purpose maybe?

Holding her breath, Ania glanced back up to look at him more. He looked pretty tall, though that could just be her angle. He didn't look like the type to lurk in a library, most of the people in here just looked a bit nerdy. This looked like the type of person who hung out with elites. Her expression betrayed her interest as she stared with wide eyes. Almost automatically, her head began to invent possible scenarios of why he was in the library. Perhaps he was a rich prince who had been forced to attend. Or maybe he was the son of a wealthy businessman and was in search of sailing books so he could escape the tyranny of his father! A small smile slid onto her face as she imagined the possibilities. Tucking her hands under her chin, Ania let her hair fall over her face as she daydreamed about the adventures her mind had placed this stranger in. "Hmm..."

<div align=center>Hadrian wasn't a prince, but he certainly thought himself one. However, his family did have a fair amount of money, and his father was a businessman. Unfortunately, he wasn't in here for any reason as exciting as Ania was thinking up. The boy glanced to his book, it was old and heavy, he flicked through the pages, confirming that it would be useful to him. When he looked up again, the girl's eyes were upon him, and why wouldn't they be? He'd been looking at her in the first place, anyhow, he ran a hand through his hair, lazily pushing his fringe from his face. His eyes were a bright shade of green today, yesterday they had been grey, and blue the day before. It was a strange condition, pointless, but at least it gave his appearance some variety, Hadrian rather wished his eyes would just stay blue though, if anything, he looked best when they were blue.

He took a moment, looking around and realizing that there wasn't really anywhere to sit, except for the softer, bean bag chairs that were dotted in corners, and he was not going to sit in one of those, he refused to feel like a five-year-old. Hadrian refused to sit at a table with a bunch of people he didn't care for. He glanced up to look at Ania again, he wondered if she had the same problem, or if she was merely a little wary of the groups of people currently sitting around the tables. He stared at her for a moment, trying to work out the answer to his own pondering. Hadrian wasn't particularly bothered whether she caught him looking or not, shame was not something he experienced often.</div>

Ania's attention refocused in time to watch this stranger look around. It appeared that he was searching for a place to sit. Perhaps he didn't want to bother the people either? She wondered how effectively she could catch his attention in such a setting. Wasn't it a bad thing to talk in libraries? Coughing gently, Ania thought for a moment before she flailed her arms a little bit. "Um!" He was looking at her, wasn't he? Well, he was looking in her direction. Surely he could hear something.
"Do you ... Want to sit over here?" Her voice carried something of a forced whisper. Her cheeks heated up a bit when the thought struck her that she might get in trouble for talking. Glancing around with a guilty expression, Ania looked back up at the stranger with a silent question, unwilling to catch negative attention.

<div align=center>Hadrian lifted an eyebrow, though that was the only hint that he'd heard her. He pushed himself away from the shelf he'd been leaning against and slowly sidled over, she didn't seem so bad, he'd decided that she was in the same situation as himself, her whisper almost brought a smile to his face, she was trying so desperately not to get into trouble. Cute. He stopped when he was a short distance before her, and slipped the hand that wasn't carrying the book into his pocket, he'd almost forgotten why he'd come in here in the first place until he glanced at the front cover. Ah, yes. "Hi." He stated quietly, his voice low, soft, only just breaching a whisper. He hoped the librarian wasn't anywhere around here, Hadrian didn't take fright easily, but he was a scary sight to say the least, but only if you made him angry, which unfortunately for Hadie, he had a knack for.

He laughed very softly, "you know," he ran a hand through his sandy blonde hair, eyes flickering off somewhere to the left, "I don't think you're gonna get into any major trouble for whispering." For the first time in a long while, a small, ghost of a smile crossed his features, though it disappeared again soon enough, a smile made his face look nice, not that it didn't already, though.</div>

The strange person seemed to accept her offer when he began to draw closer. He breathed a response to her, a quiet greeting. A small smile curved her lips upward, and she repeated the word back. A small note of panic could be seen in her expression when he mentioned getting in trouble for whispering. "But, isn't it bad? To talk in libraries, I mean?" Another nervous glance around. "I don't want to get you in trouble, either ..!" Sitting up a bit straighter when he smiled, she wondered what was so amusing. Surely he didn't take speaking in libraries so lightly ! Then again, a smile didn't hurt his features any.

Ania felt like she was going to have a heart attack. A stranger had passed by the pair, browsing for a book. Only when the person passed did she let out a small sigh of relief. It had always been pressed upon her that talking in libraries was taboo, and she took that very literally. Oh, it was so difficult to communicate in a library.

<div align=center>"Only if you yell," Hadrian purred back, flicking his hair from his sea green eyes and staring down at her. "Whispering is okay, besides, the librarian's probably asleep." If there was one thing everyone knew about the creature that stalked the aisles of the library, it was that he liked to sleep. He could be found fast asleep more often than not. Hadie shrugged, he didn't mind getting into trouble, he was in it more often than not, he didn't really know why, since he never really thought he actually did anything wrong. "Calm down, you're fine." He reassured softly, his voice was gentle, but far from feminine.

Hadrian placed the book he was holding in front of him, and flicked open the pages. There were little illustrations of Roman soldiers all over the page, and a picture of a man armed with a spear pointing it at a lion. He ran a finger over the lion, tracing the line of it's back and down it's tail. Wonder who won. He asked himself, the lion no doubt. The Romans were cruel and violent, but the culture was fascinating, Hadrian almost forgot there was someone else there. He blinked, and looked up, "oh... I'm sorry... I'm Hadrian, by the way."</div>

Ania squinted at this stranger with ill-hidden mistrust. Sleeping? What if this librarian only wanted people to think that. Anyway, it was probably safer to not make any sudden movements or noises. And hey, she could always shove the blame on this person if it came to the worst. Or hide behind him, whichever came first. Slowly, Ania began to relax. He didn't seem too concerned about anything, and he seemed kind, in an odd way.

Glancing down at the book she had been reading moments before, she found herself more interested in this other person. Stretching up a bit taller, Ania gave a faux stretch to see what he was reading. She was able to catch a glimpse of tiny people around the page, and his finger traced another tiny figure. She couldn't see any words clearly, and quickly grew bored. Her eyes flickered up to his face as he introduced himself. Oh. Ania's face took on a light touch of pink when she realised that she hadn't introduced herself properly. "Oh! Um, I'm Ania. It's ... Nice to meet you." The object that attracted her before caught her attention once more, and she found herself scooting a bit closer. Glancing upwards into Hadrian's face, she pointed at the book he held. "What are you reading?"

<div align=center>"It's nice to meet you," Hadrian responded, nodding once. What are you reading? He glanced up at her as she spoke, a softer sort of look crossing his features, though it wasn't quite a smile, almost, but not quite. "Oh, uh, it's about the roman empire." He answered, he would skip out on the fact that he'd completely forgotten about his exam, that was embarrassing and well, Hadrian wasn't one to humiliate himself. He fished something from his pocket, and on closer inspection it was a little golden pocket watch, he flipped the top up and glanced at the time. Ah good. I've got a long while. The exam was tomorrow, but maybe... Hadrian shook his head, the idea going through his head was terrible, go back before the history exam so I can go back in time to roman times... He frowned, he'd probably end up creating a black hole or something stupid, that was not his best idea, he let it leave his head.

If there was anything Hadrian liked talking about, it was ancient history. Ancient history, and himself. His eyes flickered to her book, "what are you reading?" He asked her, tilting his head to the side, his hair falling in front of his face.</div>
