Private Finished Dead Eyes And Understanding

Tomomi nodded when John promised to tell him the rest later. It was good that he had gotten the most painful parts out.
"Ya better tell me, ya bloke."
Tomomi was a bit surprised when John took her shoulders and looked her straight into her eyes. She wasn't used to such intense and sudden contact but Tomomi fought back the urge to look away. She listened to John's words with a serious face and after he was done she smiled. Not her usual cocky smile but a soft, understanding one.
"Yeah, I got it. I'm glad you're my friend too, and I gotta say the same words back to ya. Though I'm gonna help ya even when ya don't ask. I'm a nuisance like that."
Tomomi gently bapped John's shoulder with her fist, and just a little bit of sorrow crept into her smile. But she hid it quickly.
"My shoulder is always open if ya need it."

It was still weird seeing John serious, it didn't suit him. Tomomi's eyes were now dry and she crossed her arms,implying she wasn't going to back down so easily.
"That bitch insulted me too John, me an' Tadashi. So it ain't just your bad blood. I don't mind if I get insulted, I ain't worth fighting for. But if my friend AN' brother get insulted then damn right I'm gonna do somethin' about it. Even if my ass gets burned."

Tomomi listened to John's words patiently and carefully, something she didn't usually do. She really was so goddamn lucky, to have her brother and now this idiot having her back. What she had done to deserve this? Abso-fuckin'-lutely nothing. Tomomi frowned and rubbed her nose when John booped her nose.
"Don't get all high an' mighty just 'cos ya can go poof. I can go poof too and bust out my monster mode. I ain't that easy to kill in that. 'Sides, I think ya forgot I'm basically 40 up here."
Tomomi tapped her head and smiled sneakily. The smile then turned back into the genuine and grateful one that looked weird on Tomomi's face
"Thanks John, for the help offer. I'm just the luckiest pesky alley cat, ain't I?"
Tomomi wasn't joking. She really meant those words. She truly was grateful, and she truly thought she was just a pesky alley cat.

Tomomi's head went blank for a second when John leaned close, too close, and said those words. And the next second she wanted to slap him.
In normal situation she would've done just that but Tomomi remembered the situation, remembered what John had just told her. The guy had been raised in a cult, for fucks sake, and then was experimented on. Obviously your common sense is whack under those circumstances. Tomomi got that. But despite that why the fuck were there fucking butterflies in her gut?
Tomomi frowned, put her palm on John's face and pushed it away from herself.
"Thanks dude, for sayin' that. But I recommend ya don't say I'm yours in any form, or I'll be forced to use my claws."
Tomomi was serious, and a little pissed now because the damn flutters wouldn't go away.
"John, you're a real piece of work. Ya know that right?"
Tomomi grinned a bit but it died down soon, and she scratched her head.
"But seriously, what ya just told me explains so fuckin' much. No wonder you're how ya are. Look, I'm gonna get pissed at ya, a lot. I'm gonna diss ya, an' we're gonna fight. But ya gotta remember that no matter what things I say I'm not gonna give up on ya. Ya got that?"

John's cat puns were just painful but Tomomi snickered at them anyway. She was trash like that. Then she punched John lightly on the arm, smiling lopsidedly.
"Ya oughta understand one thing about me. It's that I don' scare or run easy. Cult or no cult. Though I do think it's a pity ya can't just tell it to everyone. They might not dislike ya as much then."
Tomomi sighed. Of course she wanted others to see what she saw in John, that he was a good guy beneath the annoying, but she couldn't make them see that. It was all up to John. When he would stop getting arrested.
"An' stop with the painful cat puns! Or I'll seriously scratch ya!"
Tomomi reached her arm around John's neck and put him in a headlock. She grinned and noogied him. But after a second she got serious again.
"I won't leave ya to the dogs, even if everyone else does."

Tomo looked blandly after John. Thank you for your time? What was she, a psychologist? Tomo sighed and got up too. She was gonna take the scenery route down.
"Yeah, welcome again next time, dumbass."
Tomo said and turned into a cat. She jumped to the edge of the roof and disappeared over it. There was a ledge right under and a cat route down.
