June could barely remember the last time he went out by himself. The past few months had been terrible on him, his schedule too hectic for anything that doesn't involve club duties and his own academic responsibilities. He barely had time for his friends these days, nor even time to spend on his own. For once, he was actually glad he didn't have anything on him since he'd managed to cross out three things off his list of things to worry about.

Right now, however, was for him alone to waste how ever he wanted and the first thing he decided to do was drop by Club Gambit. God knows he'd be lying if he said he didn't miss the place because he did. He really couldn't remember when was the last time he was there but that was then and here was now. And now, he should have nothing to worry about he could kick back for a moment and relax, put his mind away from stress and just bask in the club's lights.

June stepped into the club, paid greetings to the few familiar faces he'd recognized, made small talk before he made a beeline to the bar, leaning over it as he waved for the bartender for a drink. As much as he missed the dance floor he didn't exactly need to rush; he had all night.

Ruari Dunn had always been a little bit of a show off.

He had to be sometimes - it kept people coming back to the bar and he still got his job done in a reasonable amount of time. Besides, it was fun to see just what he could do with the bottles without shattering them. That had happened his first week and it was safe to say he did not get his first paycheck for those bottles. But he got better -more so practicing and an older bartender teaching him than anything else. And as to be expected he was still a show off in terms of mixing drinks. It got tips and extra cash for the bar, and offered a bit more entertainment.

Ruari tended to work the later shifts, as he thrived in the darkness of the sky and the pulsing lights of the night life. And it gave him the chance to see the calmness of the mornings. Maybe that was why he didn't quite recognize the face sitting at the bar who was waving him over. Or maybe it was because every face seemed to blur together with only their most commonly ordered drinks acting as their names.

Passing another bartender, he reassured them that he had this side. It was a normal night but having extra hands never hurt. The nymph gave a smile to the new face. "Welcome to Gambit - what can I get you?"

Oh, wow, this was a bit of a surprise. June hid a tiny smile under his hand as the the bartender approached his side; he couldn't help it with how this on had caught his attention even before he'd even said anything. Normally he'd be familiar with names and faces, but he had to admit having been preoccupied with anything but his nightlife had him left out for a while.

June smiled to him, a giggle just hiding behind his words as he spoke. "A Tequilla Sunrise," he said, maintaining some sort of calm in his speech. It wasn't very difficult, to be fair. He'd always managed to look unfazed in front of anything like it was second nature to mask anything else that isn't the image of composure. He played with his hair in a rather cutesy gesture, eyeing the nymph over the bar. "And maybe your name, if you would?"

A tequila sunrise.

"Good choice. Coming right up." Ruari chirped as he gathered all of the different ingredients; Ice, tequila, orange juice, grenadine syrup. The nymph prepared this particular drink stirred instead of shaken, but he kept a smile and a little bit of flare as he poured everything into the class together. He seemed to be having a good time despite the pulsing beats of the club and the busy hour of the night - this was what he lived for. This was the life he loved.

As he finished up the stirring, he poured it over the ice and stirred it again. Sliding it over, the bartender gave them a wink. "Ruari Dunn. Here's your drink - got a name, Sunrise?" Until he could memorize names it was always nice to call people by the titles of their drink. Generally it ended well, or otherwise he just wrote it off of the excitement of the club wiping his memory. He always worked in the dark, so sometimes things could blur together in a mix of alcohol and pulsing hearts.

Real talk, June would be a hypocrite if he said he wasn't any remotely curious of him. It was a rare occurance for him to feel so drawn to people but he'd be damned if he tried denying any possibility of that happening. And right in front of him was the said possibility; more often than not he didn't pay any attention to baristas whenever he was out before -- he'd thrown a few remarks here and there but he was sure he wasn't ever distracted in anyway. June had to consciously look around him than be caught staring outright but he couldn't really help it.

As if he wasn't already caught by his smile, the wink certainly would have had his heart skip a beat. June couldn't wipe the smile off his face, though he was trying to stop himself from giggling uncontrollably. He was honestly wondering what was wrong with him tonight.

"Ruari, is it?", he echoed, trying out the name for himself. It wasn't a name he'd said before but it wasn't too unfamiliar to him; he probably won't be forgetting it for a while. Keeping track of names happened to be his sort of thing after all. On the other hand, gosh, the only nicknames he'd ever gotten from people were just variants of his name and they never had an effect on him but he couldn't follow why 'Sunrise' was giving him butterflies. "Name's June Orwell. Unless I can own Sunrise for myself, I wouldn't mind that too."

There was nothing that felt better for Ruari than seeing such a reaction. Whether it be with alcohol on a busy night or some chatter when things got slower around closing time, his favorite part of the job was helping people have a good time at the club. And judging by that smile and hand over their mouth? Sunrise was having a great time and they had not even interacted much yet.

The nymph smiled at the others response, giving a laugh that would have been lost in the pulsing music if it was not for the close proximity. It was hearty, genuine - like he actually found the statement entertaining. It all matched the expression on his features, the area around his eyes crinkling at the edges as his features broke out into that grin of his. "Nice to meet cha, June. I'm sure you could own a sunrise with that million dollar smile of yours or maybe those stars in your eyes."

"Sorry 'bout the nickname, sometimes it's just easier to call people by their drinks since most don't want a conversation." Speaking of which. The horned bartender held up a finger as he was called over, giving a quick promise to return. He slid down the bar with ease, his hands wrapping around the bottles and tossing the ingredients up as he took a look at the person at the bar again. He moved so fluidly, so confident in his movements that it was hard to doubt his comfort in the area. But as soon as he was gone, Ruari returned to the red-head.

"So what's someone as pretty as yourself sitting here at the bar?"

This one sure was a charmer, wasn't he? June loved it though. There wasn't any use hiding his own growing smile with the way it reached up to his eyes when he did. It wasn't anything the bartender didn't notice at all either. Instead, June brought his hands down and rested them on the stem of the glass in front of him. Without his hands in the way, his smile was there for all to see, showing off his little fangs. "Is that so? Think these stars could outshine the morning sun?" he sang, batting his eyelashes for the effect.

June saved his response when Ruari turned to another, contenting himself with observing him under the beat of the club lights while he did his own thing. June could appreciate any presentation a bartender gave their costumers but having nothing else to steal his attention gave him the entire opportunity to admire Ruari. Well, he did allow himself a few quick glances if he could spot any familiar faces, inbetween a few sips of his drink.

Once Ruari turned back to him, he didn't even try to look like he wasn't watching at all. "Mm, just starting out the night. I always like a few drinks to start off, you know?" he almost purred. His grin was back, lighting up his even more features under the pulsing lights. "And you know, I'm not really most people; I like a conversation every now and then. So, might I ask, why are you behind the bar and not on the dance floor?"

Ruari just flashed his smile towards the other, giving a nod in the flashing lights of the bar. He saw the suns morning rays each time he got off shift, watching the sky fade from the endless void with small flecks of stars to the bright blue the islanders enjoyed. And yet he still told the other with confidence, "Definitely. Even the purest rays couldn't give those stars a run for their money." There was nothing against flirting with the customers of the club... Though he found this one to be intriguing. There was an energy to him that was unique enough to keep is interest.

If the Lampad had been aware of being watched, he did not care. While he basked in the attention of his showmanship, he knew he wanted to get his work done and needed to give attention to each of the customers who approached for one of the drinks.

"Havin' a drink is a good way to start off the night, get the ball rollin'." Ruari chuckled, having done it a few times himself - off duty, of course. He knew how much this place meant to the owner so he was adamant about not fucking up this opportunity for the and himself. The male crossed his ankles behind the bar, his arms resting on the lowered counter where they sliced their limes and lemons for each drinks.

"I can tell." He responded to their comment on how they weren't most people. Most asked for a drink, went to dance and came back for it later. Few stayed for a conversation, fewer kept the conversation going. "I'm behind the bar because I'm on duty, Sunrise. Can't go out and dance, I've gotta help attend to the patrons, ya know?"

June loved compliments, he really did, but not everyone gave him one that left a lasting impression on him, nor let him feel a little giddier than usual. That was only ever the case for a very few number of people and it seemed like he just found one of those few. Ruari had an air to him that simply drew June in, making him almost just barely aware of everything else in his surrounding than usual. That was a feat in itself, as June always prided himself to be very attentive to anything and everything.

A small hum went past his lips, drowned out by the music in the background, but the thoughtfulness in his expression was never muddled by the club's lights. "That's too bad," he said, tracing his fingers along the rim of the glass in front of him. June's eyes didn't seem to look away from the other; only for brief moments did he look elsewhere. "Would have been nice otherwise. Any chance I could catch you off duty sometime?"

Ruari could not help but smile. People flirting was not uncommon - it was one of his favorite things to watch at the bar. The differences between those who flirted sober and who flirted drunk, as well as how they did it... It was a nice form of entertainment during the long hours behind the bar. He found he learned a lot while watching them.

And what made him smile was not that he was being flirted with - but that the patron seemed completely sober, and meant it. "There is. But I don't get off until late, Sunrise - you'd be asleep by the time I got off." He mused. "At least, I'd hope ya are - beauty sleep for the beautiful doll here." He grinned, showing off his pearly whites.

"Though, I think I could arrange somethin' for ya. What in particular were you thinking?" Inquired the lampad, as he moved in order to grab a cup to start on the order that his companion behind the bar asked him to take care of.
